WebRPG Chat Log File [Sat Aug 12 11:03:35 PDT 2000] [Keeper]: Alright, the magazine has assigned you $2000 as your travel funds [Keeper]: Who's going to go buy the tickets [Nick Johnson]: I will [Keeper]: You've got to get passage for six people Nick Johnson wonders if he'll regret that... [Roland Windemeer]: any naked chicks at gencon? I was just watching something on DragonCon and they had a bunch of scantily clad ones, anyway. Eric Macaulay decides to go with Nick [Keeper]: It's now January 23 [William Hollis]: not where i was....didn't see any klingons either [Eric Macaulay]: ooc (hee hee that's close to my birthday) [Keeper]: You'll need a day to pack, so presumably you'll leave the next day [Eric Macaulay]: ooc switch off school girl laugh [Roland Windemeer]: we're playing now? [Keeper]: Yep [Nick Johnson]: ooc I thought we weren't going to campaign it today? Not that I mind... [Roland Windemeer]: ooc sorry, I'm half blind [Keeper]: Trust me [Nick Johnson]: ooc uhhh...forgive me but I have reservations trusting you ;-) [Nick Johnson]: So Eric and I are going to go get the tickets for 6 people [Eric Macaulay]: yup [Eric Macaulay]: "Nick, you've got a car right?" ( I can never remember these things) [William Hollis]: hmm....presumably we'll leave the next day? for some reason i don't like the sound of that.... (Roland Windemeer whispered to Keeper): okay, wanted to make sure this was working. Can we say that I don't know these guys very well, but that they called me up because they knew I was a cuckoo Egyptologist they had had dealings with before? (Keeper whispered to Roland Windemeer): That's how I was planning it. :) [Nick Johnson]: "yes I do" (Roland Windemeer whispered to Keeper): sounds good [Keeper]: That would involve heading to the harbormaster's office to determine what ships are leaving for your destination soon Eric Macaulay thinks we should leave now (Roland Windemeer whispered to Keeper): am I with them now? [Eric Macaulay]: "to the harbormaster that is Nick Johnson heads out to the car, gets in, waits for eric, drives to where the ticket seller is (Keeper whispered to Roland Windemeer): If you like, otherwise you've just been offered the trip and it's a chance for you to get to Egypt on someone else's dime... Eric Macaulay sits in the back, leaving shotgun for the presence of Early (Roland Windemeer whispered to Keeper): ok, then I'm on my way and you can stick me in whenever. [Nick Johnson]: "Yep, if Early were here now, he'd be sitting shotgun" [Keeper]: When you arrive at the harbormaster's your directed to a clerk in a dingy office Eric Macaulay looks around room Nick Johnson looks at the clerk [Keeper]: You can smell the stench of burnt fuel and the heavy salt nearby Eric Macaulay nudges Nick to talk to the clerk [Keeper]: Papers are scattered everywhere in the office and a slate has several ship names listed on it Roland Windemeer is studying his books on the train to New York. [Nick Johnson]: "Hello, We'd like to book passage to england" [Keeper]: "Which port?" [Nick Johnson]: "For 6" [Nick Johnson]: ooc London has water access, correct? [Keeper]: Thames river isn't large enough [Keeper]: "Where in England are you planning on going?" [Nick Johnson]: "What's the closest one to London?" [Nick Johnson]: [Keeper]: "You could go to South Hampton or you could go to Liverpool." [Keeper]: "London is a few hours train ride from both." [Nick Johnson]: "Is there a difference in travel time to either one?" [Nick Johnson]: "Or a difference in price?" [Keeper]: "The price difference depends on the ship. The travel time would roughly be the same." [Nick Johnson]: "Liverpool will do nicely then" [Keeper]: "How soon would you need to depart?" [Eric Macaulay]: "Tomorrow" [Nick Johnson]: ooc tommorrow correct? Nick Johnson nods [Roland Windemeer]: ooc I should be in NY by then [Nick Johnson]: "Or as soon as possible thereafter, if tomorrow is impossible" [Eric Macaulay]: ooc where is Roland now? [Roland Windemeer]: ooc assuming my train doesn't derail or get eaten... [Eric Macaulay]: ooc besides on the train, where is he coming from? [Roland Windemeer]: ooc on my way to join you guys [Keeper]: "Well, The Victoria will be leaving tonight..." Eric Macaulay checks watch [Keeper]: "...but it's more of a freighter. If you're in a rush it will do." [Nick Johnson]: "No good i'm afraid, our party won't be ready until tomorrow" [Roland Windemeer]: ooc Remember, you called and asked me to help you with the Egypt expedition? [Keeper]: "If you want to wait for tomorrow, there is a passenger steamer available." [Nick Johnson]: "When does it depart?" [Nick Johnson]: ooc when is Roland arriving? [Keeper]: "The Canary Circle leaves tomorrow at two pm." [Keeper]: He'll be arriving in just an hour [Roland Windemeer]: ooc not sure of the exact time. Keeper? Eric Macaulay wonders what the time is now [Keeper]: It's not that far from Arkham to New York [Nick Johnson]: "That sounds fine. I'd like to book passage for 6 on the Keeper" [Keeper]: It's late morning [Keeper]: 10:30, 11 am [Eric Macaulay]: ooc thanks : ) [Nick Johnson]: "Err Circle, Canary Circle that is" [Keeper]: "You'll need to make specific arrangements with the captain. The ship is at peir 22." [Eric Macaulay]: : chuckles [Nick Johnson]: "Thankyou" [Eric Macaulay]: "thanks" [Roland Windemeer]: ooc I thought Joel was going to give up piggy back rides... Nick Johnson heads towards Pier 22 and looks for the captain [Nick Johnson]: ooc keeper, circle, what's the difference ;-) Eric Macaulay walks out of office and follows Nick to Pier 22 [Keeper]: You pass the Victoria on your way to find the Canary Circle [Keeper]: It's a rusted wreck that barely looks like it can float [Eric Macaulay]: "Good thing we didn't take that boat [Nick Johnson]: "Uh, I'm glad we're not on that ship" [Keeper]: The Canary Circle however, looks brand new Eric Macaulay rubs his hand together, "Excellent" Nick Johnson looks for the captain, or for someone to ask where the captain is [Keeper]: It's a relatively large ship, though by no means huge [Keeper]: It looks like it could carry a few hundred people, though Eric Macaulay looks for the captain as well [Roland Windemeer]: ooc glad its not the titanic. I would hate to have to share a ship with DiCaprio [Keeper]: You're quickly directed to the captain's office and as you approach three men wearing trenchcoats and wide brimmed hats pulled low over their faces exit Nick Johnson examines the men in coats closely [Keeper]: Roll DICE for Nick Johnson: (1d100) : 1d100=27 = [ 27 ] Eric Macaulay looks at the captain (Keeper whispered to Nick Johnson): They really stink of fish Nick Johnson walks into the office [Keeper]: The captain is an older gentlemen who looks like he's spent more time at sea in his life than on land Eric Macaulay looks around office [Nick Johnson]: "Hello captain, I'm interested in booking passage for 6 to Liverpool" [Keeper]: He shakes both of your hands as you walk in [Nick Johnson]: "My name is Nick Johnson, and this is Eric Macaulay" [Keeper]: What class are you planning on travelling [Eric Macaulay]: "Hello sir" [Nick Johnson]: what are my options? [Keeper]: Well, we have first class accommodations available still [Keeper]: And we can squeeze a few more into steerage [Keeper]: But we can also arrange for private cabins for each if you like [Nick Johnson]: "How expensive would private cabins be?" [Keeper]: "Each private cabin would be $60 for the trip." [Keeper]: "If you are willing to double up occupents, then you only need three at $90 each." [Nick Johnson]: "How big are they?" [Keeper]: "We don't have that much room, but they're private and comfortable." [Nick Johnson]: "Eric, what do you say, 3 cabins and we can double up?" [Eric Macaulay]: "Yeah sounds cozy" [Keeper]: "There are two full sized bunks in each and a bit of storage [Nick Johnson]: "We'd like 3 private cabins then, doubling up in each" [Eric Macaulay]: "We aren't bringing all that much, I'm sure it will be fine" [Keeper]: "Then I'll need $270, please." Nick Johnson hands over the money [Keeper]: Now you need to dash over to pick Roland up from Grand Central Station. :) [Nick Johnson]: no problem, heh [Nick Johnson]: "Captain, thankyou for your time: [Keeper]: "Be here an hour early tomorrow, please." Eric Macaulay hopes we aren't keeping Roland waiting [Nick Johnson]: "What time are we departing?" Roland Windemeer is excited as the train rolls into NYC. [Keeper]: The ship departs at 2, but you do have to get there early [Eric Macaulay]: "Thank you Captain, we'll be here 1 pm tomorrow" [Nick Johnson]: "fine, goodbye" [Eric Macaulay]: "Goodbye" [Roland Windemeer]: ooc brb drink Nick Johnson heads to the car with Eric, gets in, drives to train station [Keeper]: Roll both of you [Nick Johnson]: "Boy, I hope William can get over his not being able to sleep in strange places" DICE for Nick Johnson: (1d100) : 1d100=85 = [ 85 ] DICE for Eric Macaulay: (1d100) : 1d100=78 = [ 78 ] [Keeper]: Okay thn [Eric Macaulay]: ooc ugh [Roland Windemeer]: ooc b [Nick Johnson]: ooc drat Eric Macaulay wonders if any of those cultists survived [Keeper]: Grand Central Station, as always, is packed solid with people rushing everwhere Nick Johnson thinks that they all probably did Eric Macaulay gets out his sign that says, "Roland Windemeer" Nick Johnson looks around for Roland [Eric Macaulay]: ooc ; ) (Keeper whispered to Roland Windemeer): If you want to introduce yourself to them... Roland Windemeer walks up to you. He is a handsome man of 5' 10", with brown hair and brown eyes. Eric Macaulay shakes Roland's hand, "Welcome to New York City [Roland Windemeer]: "Greetings gentlemen. I am Roland Windemeer." [Nick Johnson]: "Hello, I'm Nick Johnson" [Eric Macaulay]: "Eric Macaulay" Nick Johnson shakes Roland's hand when Eric is done Roland Windemeer shakes hand around [Roland Windemeer]: er, shakes all hands [Nick Johnson]: "Do you have all your stuff?" [Roland Windemeer]: I must say I am fascinated by your offer of a trip to Egypt. [Eric Macaulay]: "Well we aren't headed there right away" [Roland Windemeer]: Oh, yes, I have but one, albiet large, suitcase [Nick Johnson]: "Well, I'm sure it will be a rewarding trip" [Nick Johnson]: "Are you familiar with the Penhew foundation?" [Roland Windemeer]: Ah, well, perhaps you fellows could fill me in on the details of our trip as we walk? Nick Johnson beings walking to the car Eric Macaulay walks back to car (Roland Windemeer whispered to Keeper): I am, right? (Keeper whispered to Roland Windemeer): Absolutely Eric Macaulay walks back with Roland and Nick to car [Roland Windemeer]: Yes, I know of the Penhew Foundation. (Keeper whispered to Roland Windemeer): They fund a lot of expeditions Nick Johnson helps Roland put his bag in the trunk, gets in, drives them off [Nick Johnson]: "Well, we'll be going to London for a few days, and we'll be contacting them." (Keeper whispered to Roland Windemeer): They're the big mover and shaker in Egyptology [Nick Johnson]: "After that, its on to Cairo" [Roland Windemeer]: One of my fellow professors was sponsored by them in his last trip to Egypt. They rejected my proposal... (Keeper whispered to Roland Windemeer): Responsible for several major discoveries [Nick Johnson]: "Your proposal?" (Keeper whispered to Roland Windemeer): Founded by Sir August Penhew before he died with the Carlyle expedition as well. :) [Eric Macaulay]: "Which professor?" [Roland Windemeer]: I wanted to take some very precise measurements of the pyramids and other Egyptian momuments to compare them with some astronomical data I have come across. Unfortunately the Penhew foundation found my ideas to be lacking. [Nick Johnson]: "I take it your ideas are considered...radical in the field?" (Roland Windemeer whispered to Keeper): Wanna help with the professor? Or I can make someone up. (Keeper whispered to Roland Windemeer): Clive (Keeper whispered to Roland Windemeer): He's still there, too [Nick Johnson]: ooc where am I driving us, anyway? Eric Macaulay has no clue [Roland Windemeer]: Well, Nick, I must say that at some time all ideas are considered radical. Galileo was considered a heretic for calling the Earth round, and now we are sailing over to England. [Keeper]: How about someplace for him to sleep tonight guys before you all go on board the ship (Roland Windemeer whispered to Keeper): Clive is a last name? [Nick Johnson]: "Sure, I don't mean to ridicule you, but I can see where the Penhew foundation might reject something...non-conventional" (Keeper whispered to Roland Windemeer): Henry Clive is the full name [Nick Johnson]: he can sleep at my place [William Hollis]: ooc william is at the office if anyone was wondering :P [Eric Macaulay]: "I think we should head to the office first to tell the guys what time we are leaving" [Roland Windemeer]: Eric, the my colleague who was sponsored by the Penhew foundation is Dr. Henry Clive. (Keeper whispered to Roland Windemeer): He has a dig at Memphis Nick Johnson drives to the office [Roland Windemeer]: He led an expedition to dig at Memphis. [Nick Johnson]: "What did he go to Egypt for?" [Nick Johnson]: "Ahhhh" (Keeper whispered to Roland Windemeer): He's looking into the third dynasty [Eric Macaulay]: "interesting" [Roland Windemeer]: As far as my proposal is concerned, I'm confident that in the future the Penhew foundation will regret leaving me in the cold. [Nick Johnson]: "Well, perhaps now will be the time to prove it to them" [Eric Macaulay]: "I'm sure they will, your ideas, though a little complicated, sound promision" [Eric Macaulay]: "err promising" [Roland Windemeer]: Thank you, sir. It is refreashing to be in the company of men with open minds. [Keeper]: You've arrived back at the Exotic Oddities office by this point. [Eric Macaulay]: "When you are in our business, an open mind will bring good stories" Nick Johnson heads inside [Roland Windemeer]: Now, why were we talking about the Penhew Foundation? do you have dealings with them? Eric Macaulay walks inside the office [Nick Johnson]: "We'll explain in a second, Roland" Nick Johnson heads to William's office [Keeper]: William's got a desk, not an office :) Roland Windemeer takes a look around, then follows Nick. William Hollis willam doesn't have an office....he is in the back reading Eric Macaulay has a blank for a second, and would appreciate an explanation as well. : ) [Nick Johnson]: oh yeah ;) [Nick Johnson]: "William, come into Early's office with us" [Keeper]: The offices of Exotic Oddities are looking a bit worse for wear [Keeper]: Being broken into multiple times in the past week does that Eric Macaulay heads to Early's office (Roland Windemeer whispered to Keeper): is their place messy? I will make fun of them if so. [Nick Johnson]: ooc well, that's understandable ;) Eric Macaulay eyes the safe, and shudders William Hollis gets up and heads to Early's office (Keeper whispered to Roland Windemeer): A bit, but not too bad [Roland Windemeer]: It seems you men keep an open mind about cleaning as wel... Nick Johnson laughs Nick Johnson Waits for everyone to get in, and shuts the door Eric Macaulay doesn't think it's that funny (Keeper whispered to Roland Windemeer): You're dangerous. :) (Roland Windemeer whispered to Keeper): heh Eric Macaulay takes a seat William Hollis looks at Roland [Nick Johnson]: "Roland, this is William Hollis" [Eric Macaulay]: "William, Roland Windemeer" Roland Windemeer shakes William's hand [William Hollis]: "hello Roland, nice to meet you" William Hollis shakes hands with Roland [Nick Johnson]: "Ok, the boat leaves at 2 pm tomorrow" [Roland Windemeer]: Nice to meet you too, sir. [Keeper]: Early's gone to a meeting with Simon and Gerald to ensure that they can handle the trip [Nick Johnson]: "We have 3 private cabins reserved, well be bunking 2 in each of them" [Roland Windemeer]: Ah, so soon. Well, the sooner the better. [Nick Johnson]: "We will proceed to Liverpool, and then take a train to London" Roland Windemeer offers a condescending smile. [Keeper]: James and Early are going to be doubling up since they're going to be very seasick [Roland Windemeer]: I suppose I've had worse. In my undergraduate days. [Nick Johnson]: "There, we have business with the Penhew foundation, as well as a few other things to take care of, and then we'll head to Egypt" Eric Macaulay is glad he isn't bunking with James, or Early, he values his Sanity [Nick Johnson]: ooc talk about trouble... [Nick Johnson]: "We need to be at the docks no later than 1pm though." [Roland Windemeer]: Ah, so we are going to the Penhew Foundation's offices. [Eric Macaulay]: "Wiliam, you might want to bring some sort of trinket from home, so you can try and get some sleep [Roland Windemeer]: Perhaps I can look up someone there and try to get a second chance... [Nick Johnson]: "Yes. We need to get some information from them. Perhaps you can, Roland." [William Hollis]: "actually, i have some sleeping pills from my doctor" [Roland Windemeer]: No, this trip will provide me with all I need. [Eric Macaulay]: "excellent" [Roland Windemeer]: I'm better off without them and their snobbery. [Nick Johnson]: "We're going to be re-tracing the steps of a colleague of ours who was recently murdered." [Keeper]: Okay, to speed things up for this point [Roland Windemeer]: I hope you gentlemen own't mind if I take a little time of my own to perform some of my measurements. [Roland Windemeer]: Murdered?! [Nick Johnson]: "He was retracing the steps of the Carlyle expidition. Are Either of you familiar with it, Eric and Roland?" [Keeper]: We can assume that after this coversation all characters share the knowledge that was in the logs [Eric Macaulay]: ooc haven't I been with exotic oddities for a while? [Keeper]: Yes [Nick Johnson]: ok, good, I was hoping I wouldn't have to piece it all together... [Keeper]: So you've heard the office talk. :) [Eric Macaulay]: "ahh" [Nick Johnson]: office talk...like what those crazies William, Nick, and Early are up too? [Keeper]: "I heard they shoot up random old men..." Nick Johnson coughs Eric Macaulay laughs [Roland Windemeer]: The carlyle expedition. Yes, I remember that mentioned in your phone conversation. You have some news about it? I read that the matter had been finalized. [Nick Johnson]: surprise, Early's not here for this. [Nick Johnson]: "Well, apparently it had been hastely finalized" [Roland Windemeer]: I see. Other than visiting the Penhew Foundation, what is our agenda for England? [Nick Johnson]: "The demise of the expidition has been falsely reported, it seems. Our colleague spoke with Carlyle's right hand man a few months before, and found quite a bit of evidince that suggests the investigation was sloppy" [Nick Johnson]: "We'll do a little checking into what our friend, Jackson Elias, was up to over there." [Roland Windemeer]: So we are to track down what we can? [Eric Macaulay]: "yup" [Nick Johnson]: "He came to America after, but was killed before we could meet with him" [Keeper]: Don't forget about Mickey Mahooney at The Scoop either guys [Nick Johnson]: right [Eric Macaulay]: who? [Keeper]: He was Elias's contact in London [Eric Macaulay]: oh [Nick Johnson]: I had forgotten about him [Keeper]: A superbrief one line refrence a month ago [Eric Macaulay]: "we plan on visiting a man from The Scoop [Roland Windemeer]: An english newspaper? [Eric Macaulay]: "I suppose" [Nick Johnson]: "Yes." [Eric Macaulay]: checks watch [Roland Windemeer]: Well, this all sounds well and good. Where am I staying tonight? [Nick Johnson]: "Well, you can stay at my house" [Eric Macaulay]: "I think Nick volunteered" [Keeper]: It's a little after noon at this point [Roland Windemeer]: ooc okay, lets assume you guys filled me in, because I remember what I need to now [Keeper]: Okay, once you've got a place to stay for the evening we'll assume that everyone's packed and it's the next day. :) [Roland Windemeer]: Ah, well thank you Nick. I appreciate your hospitality. Eric Macaulay wonders where all the time went ;) [Nick Johnson]: "My pleasure, Roland" [Nick Johnson]: ooc Wow, we rarely get free nights ;-) [Roland Windemeer]: ok, I was going to wander in NY but its no biggie [Keeper]: You can do tthat this afternoon and we'll just say you did. :) [Eric Macaulay]: "we should really head to the Harbor now" ooc unless it's really early [Nick Johnson]: ooc is it ok to leave my car at the docs? [Keeper]: Get there early enough guys and you can get lunch on board the ship [Keeper]: Probably not [Nick Johnson]: "We'll taxi down to the docks then" [Roland Windemeer]: Nick, wouldn't it be better to take a taxi or a bus? [Keeper]: Either take a taxi, the subway or get someone who isn't going to drive [Eric Macaulay]: "Taxi it is" [Nick Johnson]: ooc I'd really hate to loose my car [Keeper]: Bernard has recovered just in time to see you off, but he's not willing to travel anywhere with Early... [Nick Johnson]: "Glad your feeling better Bernard" [Nick Johnson]: "We'll send a postcard" [Roland Windemeer]: By the way, who is accompanying us on this trip. You said 6 people were coming, but I count 4 at Myself, Nick, Eric, and William. Eric Macaulay laughs, and wishes Bernarnd good luck in New York [Nick Johnson]: James and Early [Eric Macaulay]: James and Early, they are here [Roland Windemeer]: I'll spring for the taxi fare [Keeper]: "It still hurts. They had to remove one of my kidneys." [Eric Macaulay]: "ouch" [Nick Johnson]: "Wow." [Keeper]: "Good luck guys." [Eric Macaulay]: "Take care Bernard, and get some rest" [Keeper]: "And *don't turn your back on Early*" [Roland Windemeer]: I'll keep that in mind. Thank you Bernard. [Keeper]: Everyone roll [Roland Windemeer]: and nice meeting you [Nick Johnson]: "When we get back...I'll tell you another good story about him" DICE for Eric Macaulay: (1d100) : 1d100=83 = [ 83 ] DICE for William Hollis: (1d100) : 1d100=93 = [ 93 ] DICE for Nick Johnson: (1d100) : 1d100=25 = [ 25 ] [Eric Macaulay]: ooc blah DICE for Roland Windemeer: (1d100) : 1d100=82 = [ 82 ] [Keeper]: As you arrive at the peir they're still loading some final supplies on board the ship (Keeper whispered to Nick Johnson): You think you spotted someone moving near the crates to be loaded. [Roland Windemeer]: I walk over to James and Early and introductions Nick Johnson walks over towards the crates to get a closer look Eric Macaulay follow Nick [Keeper]: Both of you roll DICE for Nick Johnson: (1d100) : 1d100=7 = [ 7 ] [Eric Macaulay]: ooc Nick always seems to be the one in the action ;) DICE for Eric Macaulay: (1d100) : 1d100=66 = [ 66 ] William Hollis examines the ship more closely (Keeper whispered to Nick Johnson): It must be for the kitchen because you can smell meat over there [Roland Windemeer]: After introductions, I head onto the ship. Nick Johnson frowns [Eric Macaulay]: "what is it?" [Keeper]: It's a coal powered steamship, new enough that a layer of soot hasn't settled on everything [Nick Johnson]: "Eric, I saw someone messing around in these crates" [Eric Macaulay]: "Messing around? what do you mean?" [Eric Macaulay]: "I didn't see anything" [Eric Macaulay]: ooc as usual : ( [Nick Johnson]: "Well, I think we might have a stowaway" [Nick Johnson]: "Do you smell that meat smell?" [Eric Macaulay]: "Should we check it out? should we tell the captain?" [Roland Windemeer]: ooc brb pee Eric Macaulay takes a deep sniff [Keeper]: Roland is shown to his cabin where he's going to be for a few minutes settling in William Hollis heads on board the ship and takes a walk around it [Keeper]: Roll one more time Eric DICE for Eric Macaulay: (1d100) : 1d100=55 = [ 55 ] [Nick Johnson]: "I doubt he'll be open to the notion of rifling through his cargo, since he would have to repack it, and we have to leave soon" (Keeper whispered to Eric Macaulay): You don't smell anything [Roland Windemeer]: ooc b [Eric Macaulay]: "Don't smell anything out of the ordinary [Nick Johnson]: "Oh well, its probably nothing" [Keeper]: There's only one deck that completely encircles the ship Nick Johnson walks back to get onto the boat, but glances back towards the crates one more time [Eric Macaulay]: "alright, I guess we should head inside [Roland Windemeer]: I get settled in and grab the bottom bunk [Keeper]: Being late January it's unlikely that it's going to get much attention [Keeper]: The bunks are split Eric Macaulay walks over to the entrance [Keeper]: One on each wall :) [Nick Johnson]: "Who am I bunking with, William?" [Keeper]: Both to the right and left as you enter [Keeper]: Take your pick [Roland Windemeer]: ok, then I don't care [Nick Johnson]: "William then" [Eric Macaulay]: "Roland it is then" [Eric Macaulay]: William Hollis heads to his room Eric Macaulay heads to his and Roland's room Nick Johnson heads to his room to talk to William [Keeper]: There's one head for that entire section of the ship [Roland Windemeer]: actually, if there's one with a window, I'll take it [Roland Windemeer]: more reading light [Keeper]: The people in the dozen cabins right there have to share it [Keeper]: They all have windows Eric Macaulay takes a gander out the window, to see what he can see [Roland Windemeer]: none of the private cabins are next to each other? Ok [Keeper]: Right now, you see New Jersey [Keeper]: Your cabins are all next to each other [Keeper]: It's on a long hallway with six cabins on each side [Eric Macaulay]: are we in the middle? [Keeper]: At the far end from the entrance is a door that leads to the bathroom [Roland Windemeer]: ok [Keeper]: You've got the three nearest the bathroom [Eric Macaulay]: "good" William Hollis looks at Nick "why do you say that?" [Keeper]: Nick and Eric, as you head to your cabin oyu see the three men who left the Captain's office before you yesterday [Keeper]: They're coming out of other cabins in the same hallway Eric Macaulay looks carfully at them Nick Johnson looks carefully at them [Keeper]: Roll Eric and Nick DICE for Eric Macaulay: (1d100) : 1d100=94 = [ 94 ] DICE for Nick Johnson: (1d100) : 1d100=66 = [ 66 ] [Keeper]: Roland and William see them too, but don't know them :) William Hollis nods to Nick, and makes sure there is a strong lock on the door to the room Nick Johnson continues to whisper with William as he heads into his room [Keeper]: Early's up on the deck, while James is off examining the ship [William Hollis]: "great....that's all we need....more smells..." [Nick Johnson]: [Eric Macaulay]: "I'll be right back in a second Roland" Eric Macaulay walks out of his cabin, walks to Nick's and William's Nick Johnson examines his cabin closely [Keeper]: A horn lets out a long low blast signalling that the ship will be leaving in few minutes Eric Macaulay knocks [Nick Johnson]: "Enter" Eric Macaulay enters [Nick Johnson]: "Cozy, at least." [Eric Macaulay]: "You saw those men right? [Keeper]: There's a bunk on either side as you enter and a porthole [Roland Windemeer]: I'm going to walk around the ship and get an idea of where eveything is [Nick Johnson]: "Yes I did. Its probably coincidence." [Keeper]: Below your bunk is a small storage space for your things Eric Macaulay calls back to Roland, "alright, see you later" [Keeper]: All the surfaces are metal and the ceiling is quite low [Nick Johnson]: "However, I don't believe in coincidence anymore" [Eric Macaulay]: "probably" [Nick Johnson]: "We'll keep an eye on them for sure." [Eric Macaulay]: "Good philosophy" [Keeper]: Everyone roll [Roland Windemeer]: I'm looking to find the mess hall and get something to eat. [Eric Macaulay]: "you wanna rig up an EDS for us too? Eric Macaulay tries to steady himself Nick Johnson grabs onto his bunk [Eric Macaulay]: "Whoah, we seem to be heading off" Roland Windemeer hears his stomach rumble as the ship starts to move. [Nick Johnson]: "Early and James aren't going to take well to that" [Keeper]: Roland, you come across James who's getting some lunch [Roland Windemeer]: Hello James. Mind if I join you? [Nick Johnson]: "Anyway William, those guys we saw in the hall were in the Captains office just before us yesterday. I tried to get a good look at them, but couldn't" [Keeper]: He motions for you to sit [Roland Windemeer]: What's on the menu for today? [Nick Johnson]: "Probably nothing, but you never know." [William Hollis]: "do you think they're trouble?" [Keeper]: "I love the ocean. It's so peaceful." [Eric Macaulay]: "I just noticed them, didn't have much of an afterthough, until now" [Eric Macaulay]: "err afterthought" [Nick Johnson]: "I didn't think Silas would have been trouble." Nick Johnson shrugs Nick Johnson shudders [Roland Windemeer]: Its my first time on the open sea. I'm very excited. I've spent a large part of my life studying egypt without ever having seen her. [Keeper]: "Just sandwiches. I think they're hanging on to their real stuff until we're underway." [Nick Johnson]: ooc how long is this voyage going to take? [Keeper]: It should take four days [Roland Windemeer]: Ah, well, a sandwich it is then. Roland Windemeer gets some food and has a casual conversation with James. William Hollis nods to Nick [Keeper]: It's a peaceful start to the trip as New York fades into the distance behind you [Keeper]: Unfortunately... [Nick Johnson]: there's always an unfortunately [Roland Windemeer]: ooc heh [Keeper]: A few hours after dinner that evening the ship hits some foul weather. [Nick Johnson]: Perfect storm? [Keeper]: Not quite that bad, but it's getting tossed Roland Windemeer retired to his cabin and tries to spend some time with a book. [Keeper]: James, Early, and a good portion of the passengers are horribly ill Eric Macaulay hopes William's doctor sent some sea sickness pills along with the sleeping ones Nick Johnson thinks he'll stay in the cabin [Keeper]: Everyone roll DICE for Nick Johnson: (1d100) : 1d100=92 = [ 92 ] DICE for Eric Macaulay: (1d100) : 1d100=53 = [ 53 ] DICE for Roland Windemeer: (1d100) : 1d100=97 = [ 97 ] DICE for William Hollis: (1d100) : 1d100=91 = [ 91 ] [Nick Johnson]: ooc doh! [Keeper]: 90's guys? [Roland Windemeer]: ooc ouch. I'm hit with lughtning [Nick Johnson]: what, I puke up a lung? [Eric Macaulay]: ooc for once I got lower than everyone! (Keeper whispered to Roland Windemeer): As you head down you think you see a glint of white out on the ocean [Roland Windemeer]: ooc you can't lose SAN from being rained on, can you? Nick Johnson wonders how he'll function sans a lung (Roland Windemeer whispered to Keeper): I ignore it and go to my room. Nick Johnson races out into the hall to puke in front of someone else's cabin [Eric Macaulay]: "I'm sure Bernard will be willing to give his up :)" [Keeper]: The gentlemen you noticed earlier don't seem to be bothered by the storm [Keeper]: They continue to move easily about the ship while everyone else is tossed about [Roland Windemeer]: is Eric in the room with me? He's my roommate right? [Keeper]: Eric, did you go back to your cabin? [Eric Macaulay]: I guess [Eric Macaulay]: yes I'm your roomate William Hollis keeps an eye on those men Eric Macaulay suggests we do the same [Keeper]: Nick, I'm afraid the EDS won't work in this weather [Nick Johnson]: yah, I kinda figured that [Eric Macaulay]: ooc lol [Roland Windemeer]: Seems I saw something out on the water. I couldn't quite make it out. I didn't want to dally on the deck, though. [Nick Johnson]: Well, the EDS won't, but mayhap the mark II will! [Eric Macaulay]: "saw something? Like what? [Roland Windemeer]: ooc that was to Eric, btw... Nick Johnson heads back to his cabin [Nick Johnson]: "Ugh, I didn't know I would get this seasick, but then this is bad weather" [Roland Windemeer]: I'm not sure. Just a glint of white against the dark sea. It could have been a fish, I suppose. Eric Macaulay hands Nick some supplies so he can develop the mark II faster (William Hollis whispered to Keeper): i want to try to get into one of those guys rooms...pick the lock...but making sure nobody sees me, even nick and the gange [Nick Johnson]: "How you feeling Will?" [Keeper]: No Eric Macaulay stops and looks and listens closely (William Hollis whispered to Keeper): i'll just walk down the hallway then [Nick Johnson]: Can I tell whose door he is in front of? [Roland Windemeer]: I wait and listen. (Keeper whispered to Roland Windemeer): You hear someone walking away (Keeper whispered to Eric Macaulay): You hear someone walking away [Keeper]: Nick, you can't be certain what door he's in front of Eric Macaulay whispers, "I hear someone walking away Nick Johnson listens carefully (Keeper whispered to William Hollis): Roll one more time [Roland Windemeer]: "I believe whoever it was has left, probably just the scullery boy." [Eric Macaulay]: ooc should I have not opened the door? (Keeper whispered to William Hollis): You're grabbed from behind and knocked out [Keeper]: There's no one in the hallway now [William Hollis]: ooc-heh....nice knowing you guys :P Eric Macaulay walks back in and closes door, "well whoever it was is gone now" [Roland Windemeer]: ooc what is the date? [Keeper]: January 24 Nick Johnson walks into his room [Nick Johnson]: "Hey Will, I just saw someone skulking around in the hall, but they left" [Roland Windemeer]: "Probably just someone using the head. Nothing to be concerned with." [Keeper]: William's gone [Nick Johnson]: Where is he? [Keeper]: You've got no idea [Nick Johnson]: drat [Roland Windemeer]: where was he last? Nick Johnson goes and nocks on Erics and Rolands door [Roland Windemeer]: how do we know he's gone? [Eric Macaulay]: "I'm going to check on Nick and William Eric Macaulay opens door [Eric Macaulay]: "Oh Nick, I was just coming to see you guys" [Nick Johnson]: "Eric, how are you both doing?" Nick Johnson enters the cabin [Roland Windemeer]: "Ok, well, I will stay here. Let me know if anything interesting happens." [Eric Macaulay]: "Alright, I suppose, I heard someone outside, I went to look, but they left" Eric Macaulay closes door [William Hollis]: ooc- william is sleeping with the fishies and cthulhus....okay, well maybe not just yet [Nick Johnson]: "I saw someone skulking, but They disappeared" [Eric Macaulay]: "where were you? [Nick Johnson]: "I think William went to follow the guys we saw earlier (Keeper whispered to William Hollis): I'm not so arbitrary I'll just kill you for that. You are depending on them to save you in time, though [Roland Windemeer]: You men are so paranoid. Why not relax? Its just a storm. [Nick Johnson]: "Me? I was out in the hall finishing being sick." [Eric Macaulay]: "where was the man?" [Nick Johnson]: ooc I had forgotten that's where William went... [Nick Johnson]: "Down the hall, I couldn't tell where exactly" [Nick Johnson]: ooc where is there room in relation to William's and mine? [Keeper]: That's Early and James's [Nick Johnson]: ooc which end of the hall was this guy on? left or right from my cabin? [Keeper]: They need it the most. :) [Keeper]: Left [Eric Macaulay]: ooc so to the right is the bathroom, the left is the entrance [Keeper]: Away from the head Roland Windemeer writes "Jan 24, afternoon: I ate an awful sandwich for lunch, but it was counterbalanced by a pleasant conversation with James." [Keeper]: Right [Nick Johnson]: "He was down the hall, to the left of our rooms" [Nick Johnson]: "He must have saw me and left." [Eric Macaulay]: ooc so the order is James/early, William/Nick, Me/Roland? [Nick Johnson]: "What time is it, does anyone know?" Eric Macaulay checks watch [Keeper]: Yes [Keeper]: It's nearly midnight [Eric Macaulay]: ooc ok [Eric Macaulay]: "well it's nearly midnight Roland Windemeer continues, "Jan 24, evening: A storm has rolled in. [William Hollis]: ooc-midnight? ooh....great, nice time for sacrifices :P [Nick Johnson]: how is the storm doing outside? [Nick Johnson]: "Ok, I'm going back to my room." Nick Johnson goes back to his room [Keeper]: A porter comes climbs up the stairs [Keeper]: Hang on guys [Nick Johnson]: ok [Keeper]: and then steps into your hallway [Roland Windemeer]: ooc is there room under the bunks to hide? [Keeper]: "We believe we have a stowaway on board. The captain would like you to report if you see anyone mysterious" Eric Macaulay walks to Nick's room [Keeper]: No, because that's where you have to store your belongings [Roland Windemeer]: ooc ok [Nick Johnson]: "Will do. I saw someone skulking around the crates earlier when they were being loaded, but when I went to look I didn't see anything." [Nick Johnson]: "I didn't mention it because I figured it was a worker, but now I see I should have." Eric Macaulay knocks [Nick Johnson]: ooc I'm talking to the porter in the hall Eric ;) (Keeper whispered to William Hollis): I'm going to give them five more minutes Roland Windemeer goes into the hallway and says, "I saw something peculiar at sea earlier, but thought it was a fish of some kind. It may have been a boat." (Keeper whispered to William Hollis): Then a shot's going to be fired. Eric Macaulay whirls around, "weren't you in there?" pointing in all directions, obviously confused : ) Nick Johnson too the porter "Have you seen my friend William?" describes William to porter Eric Macaulay walks over to the porter and Nick [Roland Windemeer]: ooc you guys were still in the hallway, right? [Eric Macaulay]: "William's gone? [Nick Johnson]: ooc yes we are, I assume [Roland Windemeer]: ooc outside the caibns? [Nick Johnson]: "I told you, he went to look around" [Keeper]: "I'm afraid not. Someone spotted someone skulking below and I've been spending my time looking for them." [Keeper]: Nick was [Keeper]: I thought he was talking to you at your door. :) [Eric Macaulay]: "oh right" [Roland Windemeer]: "Any description of the stowaway?" [Nick Johnson]: ooc ok keeper, either way [Nick Johnson]: "Eric, I'm going to look for William" [Keeper]: "No sir. No one's gotten a good look at him." [Nick Johnson]: "Porter, we'll keep our eyes peeled" [Eric Macaulay]: "should I join you?" [Roland Windemeer]: Men, I have a suggestion. [Nick Johnson]: "If you want to, two's always nice." [Eric Macaulay]: "Porter, we'll keep a look out" [Nick Johnson]: ooc when the porter leaves...I grab my .38, some ammo, and a flashlight Eric Macaulay walks back to cabin, makes sure Roland is going to be fine, and then walks back to the hall [Roland Windemeer]: Since there may be some unpleasant element on board, I suggest we keep our cabin doors locked at all times and use a distinctive knock wehn visitng one another. Eric Macaulay while in the cabin, grabs his gun and some ammo, book kit, and flashlight Nick Johnson goes into Eric's room [Nick Johnson]: "Tell me the nock, I want to look for William now." Eric Macaulay follows Nick, from the hall : ) [Nick Johnson]: err knock that is [Eric Macaulay]: "the knock? William Hollis william is under the covers hiding [Keeper]: No [Nick Johnson]: sweet ;-) [Eric Macaulay]: "what did you hear? We should talk quietly, their door just opened" Roland Windemeer gives William his time alone. He sits in the other bunk and records what he has heard of the other's adventures. [Nick Johnson]: I'm entering my cabin now, then. Nick Johnson goes into his cabin, straps the .32 into an ankle holster [Eric Macaulay]: ooc weren't we already there? William Hollis gets out from under the covers and nods to Roland... "oh um hello...." [Nick Johnson]: ooc I was a little unclear, but I think we are now [Eric Macaulay]: ooc ok [Eric Macaulay]: "well what did you hear? William Hollis goes to the door, puts his ear against it and listens [Roland Windemeer]: "How are you man? I hear you had quite an experience!" Keeper kicks himself for forgetting to introduce part of this thread when Roland was on the train... [Nick Johnson]: "later, lets go talk to the captin first. I'm not really sure what to make of it truth be told, but I think those people are aware of us in some way." [Eric Macaulay]: "alright, we should go to the Captain then." [William Hollis]: "i'm okay for now...yeah, one of many of my experiences....i knew i shouldn't have come along..." William Hollis keeps listening at the door Eric Macaulay wonders what the keeper forgot [Nick Johnson]: ooc whoops keeper... [Roland Windemeer]: "Well, if there's anything I can do to help, let me know. If you want to talk or anything..." [Keeper]: Ah, it was just a good oportunity for an early scare [Nick Johnson]: ooc I think it puts the comments into a little more perspective though, would I be correct there? [Keeper]: That would tie into this thread [Roland Windemeer]: brb pee [Eric Macaulay]: ahh [Nick Johnson]: ooc I think I know who they were talking about then... [Keeper]: It could, but it doesn't matter [Eric Macaulay]: Roland seems to be peeing a lot [Eric Macaulay]: lol [Keeper]: So, are you guys going to find the captain? [Eric Macaulay]: yeah [Nick Johnson]: "Ok, we're going to go talk to the captain. William, you and Roland take it easy. Remember the knock." [Eric Macaulay]: "William, is anyone outside? [Nick Johnson]: yes keeper [Roland Windemeer]: ooc b William Hollis shrugs [Eric Macaulay]: "Let's go then, carefully" Nick Johnson nods Nick Johnson opens the cabin door [Keeper]: The hallway is clear right now Eric Macaulay follows Nick outside cabin [Nick Johnson]: "To the captain" [Roland Windemeer]: "Okay, well I will stay here and wait for the other men to return." Nick Johnson heads to the bridge [Eric Macaulay]: "onward" Eric Macaulay follows William Hollis follows Nick [Nick Johnson]: "Feeling up to it then William?" [Keeper]: The captain is on the bridge right now. [William Hollis]: "yep" [Keeper]: However, a subordinate stops you at the door Eric Macaulay heads to the bridge [Eric Macaulay]: "Excuse me, we need to speak to the Captain [Nick Johnson]: "We need to speak to the captain concerning the stowaway" [Nick Johnson]: "And a dead Porter" [Keeper]: "I'm sorry sirs, we have an emergency and cannot allow anyone to go onto the bridge" [Keeper]: "A dead porter?" [Roland Windemeer]: "Well, in that case I will just go back to my own cabin." [Eric Macaulay]: ooc whoops, I think we just overwhelmed the subordinate [Keeper]: "Very well." [Nick Johnson]: "Yes" Roland Windemeer returns to his cabin and locks the door. Eric Macaulay walks to the captain [Keeper]: The captain looks like he was woken up very quickly. He's still a bit groggy and is drinking a mug of tea. Nick Johnson walks to the captain, assuming they were let onto the bridge [Nick Johnson]: "Sir, I think we found the stowaways" [William Hollis]: ooc- tea? yeah right :P [Keeper]: "That's nice, but we have larger problems than that right now." [Eric Macaulay]: "Would you mind elaborating?" [Nick Johnson]: "They killed one of your porters, and almost killed my friend." [Nick Johnson]: "Is something wrong with the engine?" [Keeper]: "A murder? What exactly happened?" Nick Johnson shrugs [Eric Macaulay]: "We aren't too sure" [Nick Johnson]: "I got there, my friend William was bound and gagged, and your Porter was a messy corpse on the floor. We shot the two people, though." [Keeper]: "Where was this?" [Nick Johnson]: "Cargo Hold." [William Hollis]: "there were some cultists that tried to kill me, and the porter ran into them and saved me [Eric Macaulay]: ooc I thought there was three, oh well, I guess I'm wrong [Keeper]: The captain sends someone down there to check on the story [Keeper]: Three shambling dead guys and two cultists [Eric Macaulay]: "I hope your man has a strong stomach" [Nick Johnson]: ooc I figured we shouldn't mention the shambling dead guys ;) [Eric Macaulay]: ooc oh thanks [Eric Macaulay]: ooc right the zombies [Keeper]: A few minutes later he returns. "It's apparently true, sir." He then describes the scene. [Nick Johnson]: "Sir, it was nasty. I have no idea what they were up to." William Hollis covers his ears [Keeper]: "Six dead bodies at a time like this." [Eric Macaulay]: "What is wrong with the engine Captain?" [Nick Johnson]: "So what exactly is going on?" [Nick Johnson]: "I wonder if perhaps our stowaways had something to do with the ships problems." [Keeper]: "We'll have to bury them at sea, but we'll avoid the legal entanglements if you don't mind." Nick Johnson nods [Nick Johnson]: "Fine by us." Eric Macaulay agrees [Keeper]: "We won't say a word of this if you don't." William Hollis nods [Nick Johnson]: "Trust me, we won't mention it." [Roland Windemeer]: ooc except in the story for the magazine... Eric Macaulay nods [Keeper]: "Now I must ask you to go below. Our engines have failed and we're adrift in this storm." [Eric Macaulay]: "Do you know why the engines failed?" [Keeper]: "It's unlikely we'll capsize, but it's certainly going to be rough for the next several hours." [Nick Johnson]: "Well, like I said I suspect sabotage. I don't know if that will help you fix the problem though." [Keeper]: "I haven't had anything reported to me yet, but we're working to repair it immediately." [Nick Johnson]: "Good luck fixing it, and I'm sorry about your man." [Eric Macaulay]: "As am I" [Nick Johnson]: "Gentlemen, shall we go then?" [Eric Macaulay]: "Yes, I think we are done here" Eric Macaulay heads back to cabin Nick Johnson heads back to the cabin [Keeper]: The captain sends someone to help you back to your cabin in the rough weather [Keeper]: When you get back to your cabins he says "Try to get some sleep. There's not much you can do about the situation." Nick Johnson nods [Keeper]: Then heads off [William Hollis]: ooc-bathroom break brb [Eric Macaulay]: "Thank you for your assistance" [Nick Johnson]: ooc this is some freaky stuff [Eric Macaulay]: "Do you want to tell me what you heard now Nick? [Nick Johnson]: ooc lets wait for William [Keeper]: They didn't include any shipboard adventures as part of the campaign so this is a filler one I provided to help bridge some points [Roland Windemeer]: ooc fill me in, guys [Nick Johnson]: Wow, so they were actually going to let the boat ride be uneventful? I've been dreading it for 3 sessions ;-) [Keeper]: Yep, but I cannot just let it pass Eric Macaulay notices that Roland isn't there, walks back to his cabin, knocks the knock, and tells roland to come over Roland Windemeer joins the rest of the men. Eric Macaulay walks back into the cabin [Nick Johnson]: "William is having an out of body experience, when he [Nick Johnson]: "he's done, we'll talk" [Roland Windemeer]: "So, how did your meeting with the captain go? Oh, and Nick, I did not need your gun, thankfully." Nick Johnson nods [Nick Johnson]: "I'm glad." Eric Macaulay checks his watch [Keeper]: Poor Nick got to hear the nastiest conversation yet.... [Eric Macaulay]: "We haven't slept in a while" [Nick Johnson]: stop that [Keeper]: It's about 1am [Nick Johnson]: I don't want to consider the diabolical implications [Keeper]: You guys have had an eventful hour. :) [Roland Windemeer]: ooc Aren't you glad I suggested listening at the door? [Nick Johnson]: ooc dunno yet ;) [Nick Johnson]: I'm exhausted. I thought we were going to loose William [Eric Macaulay]: ooc we'll have to see how everything turns out [Roland Windemeer]: ooc heh, at least I didn't have to hear it first hand [Keeper]: At least you have a better idea of the scope of the campaign at this point [Nick Johnson]: Who, me specifically? [Eric Macaulay]: and if William gets back, the rest of us will too [Keeper]: Yes Nick Johnson nods [William Hollis]: back...sorry [Nick Johnson]: heh [Nick Johnson]: "Ok, first off, there is something wrong with the engine, and we are adrift." [Roland Windemeer]: "hmm" [Nick Johnson]: "I suspect sabotage, but there is nothing we can do now." Eric Macaulay crosses arms and listens intently [Nick Johnson]: "The crew is hard at work to fix it says the captain." [Nick Johnson]: "As for next door..." [Roland Windemeer]: "Do any of us possess mechanical skills that might help them?" [Nick Johnson]: "doubtful." [Keeper]: Only if you worked as a sailor in the past Roland Windemeer does not. Eric Macaulay did not [Nick Johnson]: "I heard part of a conversation, mind you." [Eric Macaulay]: "go on" [Nick Johnson]: "I think they're here because of Roland." [Roland Windemeer]: ooc shit [Eric Macaulay]: "hmm" [Nick Johnson]: "I suspect one of your theories is onto something then, sir." [Roland Windemeer]: "Me? No one knew I would be here before yesterday, not even myself." [Nick Johnson]: "They mentioned something about stars aligning, and that you'd be helping their cause as much as ours." [Nick Johnson]: "Excuse me, they said specifically that "This will benefit our cause as much as his." " [Roland Windemeer]: "Interesting. My work is only in the preliminary stages, though. I've published a few papers indicating the direction of my research but I've yet to draw any hard conclusions." [Nick Johnson]: "And then they mentioned that the stars would be aligning soon, and that they'd be on the 'right' side for once." [Nick Johnson]: "As to who 'his' cause is, it might be you." [Roland Windemeer]: "Perhaps I should talk to these gentlemen." [Nick Johnson]: "They also mentioned something about 'could they be that obvious?' " [Nick Johnson]: "I suspect they were talking about the cultists, though." [Nick Johnson]: "I'm not sure contacting them would be wise." [Roland Windemeer]: "Nick, what sort of men did you take them for? Laborers, educated? [Nick Johnson]: "Probably educated. Possibly another cult." [Eric Macaulay]: "Nick, anything else?" Nick Johnson shakes his head Eric Macaulay ponders over what he just heard [Roland Windemeer]: "Well, there are six of us, and only three of them. If we try to speak to them politely they would probably be managable." [Nick Johnson]: "At first I thought they were talking about us, but I was thinking about this on the way to the captain and now I am not so sure." [Roland Windemeer]: ooc Early and James slept thru all this, I suppose? William Hollis wonders if thy have anything to do with that upside down ankh [Nick Johnson]: "My problem with that, Roland, is that I don't know if their intentions are good." Nick Johnson wonders that as well Eric Macaulay wonders upside down Ankh? [Keeper]: Yes, they're not available [Roland Windemeer]: "Well, how shall we find out if we don't speak to them?" [Nick Johnson]: "We met a monk once who worse the sign of an upside down ankh" William Hollis wonders if Eric can read people's minds [Nick Johnson]: ooc - wasn't there a picture of one in Elias's hotel room [Nick Johnson]: ooc or something? [Roland Windemeer]: You men seem comfortable with guns, and I am always up for some stimulating conversation." Eric Macaulay laughs, sends a message to William, yes I can : ) [Eric Macaulay]: ooc just kidding [William Hollis]: heh... :P Eric Macaulay wonders, but wasn't that just a costume? [Roland Windemeer]: "Hmm, upside down ankh." [Nick Johnson]: "Maybe we should. I feel that I should point out that the last time we tried to just talk Early almost got Bernard killed." Roland Windemeer looks to see if he can find any references to that symbol in his books. [Nick Johnson]: "Roland, do you know what it means?" [Keeper]: Roland, roll [Nick Johnson]: "Well, it was a costume party, but this guy turned out to be a little more than just a guest." DICE for Roland Windemeer: (1d100) : 1d100=21 = [ 21 ] [Eric Macaulay]: ooc whoops, this is all because I had a freak incident of reading minds ;) (Keeper whispered to Roland Windemeer): No book refrences, but it does sound familiar to you somehow Nick Johnson wonders if Eric has any other cool powers... [Roland Windemeer]: "The standard Anhk is a common symbol in Egyptian folklore. Eric Macaulay can walk through walls Nick Johnson nods [Eric Macaulay]: "That's right-side up though, isn't it?" William Hollis wonders who Eric is really working for [Roland Windemeer]: "It is a symbol of life. I can't find any particular reference to an upside down version of it." Eric Macaulay fingers the little x-men symbol in his pocket [William Hollis]: "yeah it means life or something like that right side up" [William Hollis]: "upside down i would assume means death" Nick Johnson nods Eric Macaulay agrees [Nick Johnson]: "Would that necessarily be a bad thing?" [Nick Johnson]: "the upside down ankh that is." [Roland Windemeer]: "The egyptians had different beliefs about Life and Death than Western man, though. Death was not necessarily a bad thing." [William Hollis]: "only if they are after us" Nick Johnson listens intently Eric Macaulay laughs [Nick Johnson]: "Will, everyone is after us to a degree..." [William Hollis]: "is there an egyptian symbol for death?" [Roland Windemeer]: "Death could also be part of the cycle of rebirth that the Egyptians experienced each year with the flooding of the Nile." [William Hollis]: "hmm....maybe instead of death, the upside down ankh means undead? [Roland Windemeer]: "There are many gods who deal with Death in Egypt. Symbols would be associated with those Gods. Osiris is the lord of the Underworld, and Anubis guards the gate of the dead. Seth is an evil god who killed Osiris." [Roland Windemeer]: "Give me a moment and I will see if I know of the symbols for these gods" Keeper is desperately searching through his refrence materials for a quote sure to turn all of your bowels into jelly. [Nick Johnson]: ooc doh! [William Hollis]: "but why would someone use the symbol of life upside down instead of just using a symbol of death?" (Keeper whispered to Roland Windemeer): You should know these off the top of your head as an Egyptologist. :) [Nick Johnson]: "The question is, are they as nasty as the other cult that wants to kill us. The answer? Probably" Nick Johnson sighs Eric Macaulay wonders if this conversation is actually relevant [Nick Johnson]: ooc ;-) [William Hollis]: cult=bad (Roland Windemeer whispered to Keeper): I know but irl I have to look them up. (Keeper whispered to Roland Windemeer): We're in the same boat. :) (Keeper whispered to Roland Windemeer): I try to keep as many refrence books handy as I can when I do this. :) [Nick Johnson]: actually, it might be relevant. [Nick Johnson]: We are heading to egypt after all ;) [Eric Macaulay]: right [William Hollis]: "well i think it would be nice to figure out what cults are after us and what their agenda might be (besides wanting us dead)" [Nick Johnson]: We did see the ankh somewhere else thoug, but I cannot remember where. [Roland Windemeer]: Many Gods are depicted as holding Anhks facing in the standard fashion. An upside down Anhk could imply the hand of a God held in the air before striking an enemy." [Nick Johnson]: The upside down ankh that is. [Nick Johnson]: "Wow. Heavinly wrath if you will." [William Hollis]: "so is that good or bad?" Nick Johnson looks at William and shrugs [Roland Windemeer]: "Heavenly wrath is bad when directed at you." [William Hollis]: "i suppose it depends on if you are the enemy or not...heh" William Hollis nods [Nick Johnson]: "Might they be opposing Silas and his toadies?" [Nick Johnson]: "Or is it much more complex?" Nick Johnson shrugs [Roland Windemeer]: "It seems that I don't know of a group that used an inverted Anhk as their symbol. I may have seen it before but with my limited materials on this boat its immposible to do a thourough enough search of the literature." Nick Johnson nods [Roland Windemeer]: "I'm still in favor of speaking to these men. They obviously know more than we do. I'd like to know what they know." [Nick Johnson]: "Maybe we should talk to them. For now, I advise caution though." Eric Macaulay nods [Roland Windemeer]: "Certianly you men should be armed if we do speak to them." [Nick Johnson]: "We've got minimum 3.5 days until England, perhaps we could watch them some more." [William Hollis]: "i agree with Nick" [Eric Macaulay]: "yes" Keeper wonders if now is a good time for something horrible to happen. [Roland Windemeer]: "Waiting will be fine with me. Do we want to set up a watch in the hallway to monitor their comings and goings?" [Nick Johnson]: "I just don't want to rush into things." [Nick Johnson]: ooc oh shit? William Hollis doesn't think now is a good time for that Nick Johnson thinks William has the right of it [Keeper]: No, but it scares you. ;-) [Nick Johnson]: I'm already pretty spooked, aren't I... William Hollis looks out the cabin window [Nick Johnson]: ooc is there a sink in the room? [Keeper]: Roll William [Keeper]: No DICE for William Hollis: (1d100) : 1d100=4 = [ 4 ] [Roland Windemeer]: "so, shall we watch?" [Keeper]: No plumbing in the rooms [Nick Johnson]: ooc that might be bad... [Keeper]: William roll again DICE for William Hollis: (1d100) : 1d100=23 = [ 23 ] [Nick Johnson]: ooc san roll... [William Hollis]: nod [Roland Windemeer]: ooc We're not over Rlyeh are we? [Nick Johnson]: ooc shhhhsh! Don't say that! Ever! ;-) (Keeper whispered to William Hollis): In a flash of lightning you spot something man sized and shaped, but grey and scaley swimming alongside the boat. [Keeper]: R'lyeh is in the pacific [Roland Windemeer]: ooc see, when I saw something at sea earlier, I ignored it and just told you guys about it... Eric Macaulay cowers in fear anyways [Nick Johnson]: ooc note to self: do not sail pacific ocean again, ever [William Hollis]: "uh guys....there is somehting grey and scaley swimming along side the boat" [Eric Macaulay]: "uh that's not good" [Nick Johnson]: "Grey and scaley?" [Roland Windemeer]: "a fish?" [Nick Johnson]: "A serpent?" [Eric Macaulay]: "Can you make out anything else? How big?" [Roland Windemeer]: "How big?" [William Hollis]: "it's man sized and shaped" [Nick Johnson]: "Shaped like...?" (Keeper whispered to William Hollis): You could see it had arms and legs [Roland Windemeer]: ooc we're not moving, though, right? We're stalled out... [William Hollis]: "it had arms and legs" [Keeper]: Well, you are moving [Keeper]: You're just adrift [Nick Johnson]: we're drifing [Eric Macaulay]: ooc we are drifting Nick Johnson sighs [Nick Johnson]: [Nick Johnson]: [Roland Windemeer]: ooc but not at full speed William Hollis keeps looking out the window Nick Johnson curses [Roland Windemeer]: "Should someone alert the captain?" [Nick Johnson]: "No rest for the weary." [Nick Johnson]: "I don't think the captain will take kindly for such a story." [Nick Johnson]: "He'd call us crazy, and ignore us." [Eric Macaulay]: "Neither do I, he's got enough on his hands already" [Roland Windemeer]: "William, Are there any ladders or ropes for it to climb into the ship?" William Hollis agrees with Eric [William Hollis]: ooc-are there? [Keeper]: Not that you saw before... [Roland Windemeer]: "We may be safe from it, then." [William Hollis]: "for now...." Eric Macaulay isn't so sure [Nick Johnson]: "It has to be related to the engine trouble." Nick Johnson grumbles [Eric Macaulay]: "I wonder if that squeeling we heard is related to engine trouble" [Roland Windemeer]: "maybe someone should sneak into the engine room and have a look." [Nick Johnson]: "There are a bunch of people down there now." [William Hollis]: "go right ahead Roland" [Nick Johnson]: ooc heh [Roland Windemeer]: "Well, not me." [Roland Windemeer]: "Not with slimy grey things about, anyway." Keeper wonders if there's anyway he can slip a Shogoth on board the ship... William Hollis remembers to have roland read that cypher when and if they get back to new york Nick Johnson thinks there isn't a way [Keeper]: It's only a sixty foot formless beast that crushes everything in it's path Eric Macaulay wants to make sure there isn't a way [Keeper]: I bet they had one hiding in the bilge. ;) [William Hollis]: it's probably stuffed in one of those crates Eric Macaulay doesn't want to go anywhere right now though [Nick Johnson]: "Well, those, uh, zombies, were definately stuffed in a crate I'd say." [Keeper]: At that moment [Keeper]: The lights go out [Roland Windemeer]: ooc "Dehydrated Shogoth(tm) - Just add Water!" [Nick Johnson]: ooc %#$@! Nick Johnson gets his flashlight and turns it on [Keeper]: The cabin is pitch black only illuminated by flashes of lightning through the porthole [Nick Johnson]: "Well, that can't be good." William Hollis gets out his flashlight as well Nick Johnson listens at the cabin door Roland Windemeer crouches and waits. [Keeper]: Someone's walking out in the hall Eric Macaulay takes out his flashlight Eric Macaulay moves his hand to his gun [Nick Johnson]: towards or away from the cabin, and can we tell? Nick Johnson draws his .38 Eric Macaulay draws as well William Hollis stays near the walls of the room and gets out his gun [Keeper]: Toward [Keeper]: The steps stop, and then turn away and fade into the distance Roland Windemeer moves to the back of the room behind all the guys with guns. Nick Johnson backs away from the door quietly Nick Johnson returns to sitting near the door, and makes sure its locked Roland Windemeer listens carefully. Eric Macaulay listens carefully [Keeper]: Roll Roland and Eric DICE for Roland Windemeer: (1d100) : 1d100=71 = [ 71 ] DICE for Keeper: (1d100) : 1d100=66 = [ 66 ] DICE for Eric Macaulay: (1d100) : 1d100=70 = [ 70 ] [Eric Macaulay]: ooc blah William Hollis looks out the window again [Keeper]: You hear more footsteps in the hall [Eric Macaulay]: "shh" Nick Johnson backs away from the door again, quietly [Keeper]: It's acompanied by very heavy breathing [Roland Windemeer]: he stays ready behind the others. Eric Macaulay whispers, "heavy breathing" Eric Macaulay points gun at the door Nick Johnson moves into a crouch near the read of the cabin Eric Macaulay moves slowly towards the back of the cabin, and crouches [Keeper]: There's a knock on a door in the hallway that isn't yours [Nick Johnson]: to the left or right? [Keeper]: left [Roland Windemeer]: not our knock or not our door? [Roland Windemeer]: oh [Keeper]: not your door or knock Nick Johnson whispers "That might be the trenchcoat gang" William Hollis stands against the wall next to the door [Eric Macaulay]: "or it could be sailors checking if people are ok" Nick Johnson nods [Nick Johnson]: "Could be..." [Keeper]: Suddenly you hear a strange voice, like that of a drowning man: "Ph'nglui mglw'nafh Cthulhu R'lyeh Wgah'nagl fhtan" [Eric Macaulay]: ooc great %^*@# [Roland Windemeer]: ooc SAN rolls? [William Hollis]: uh oh....that's not something you want to hear [Keeper]: Another door in the hallway opens and you hear someone else step out there [Eric Macaulay]: is it outside the door? [Keeper]: No san roll [Keeper]: You've got no clue what it means [Nick Johnson]: ooc translation: I'm cookoo for coco puffs? [Eric Macaulay]: ooc lol [Keeper]: This one is across the hall from you [Roland Windemeer]: ooc: that's the quote for the webpage [Eric Macaulay]: ooc or Cooooo-oooookie crisp [William Hollis]: i'm cthulhu for coco puffs [Keeper]: The same unearthly voice screeches [Keeper]: What web page? Eric Macaulay doesn't know what to do Nick Johnson whispers in a very low voice "what the hell" [Roland Windemeer]: ooc yours, Joel [Keeper]: I quoted that from "Call of Cthulhu" Eric Macaulay shrugs, and nods [Keeper]: Ack [Roland Windemeer]: ooc: No, Nick's translation [Keeper]: Well anyways you heard the screech [Nick Johnson]: like a wordless screech? William Hollis puts his ear against the wall and listens [Keeper]: Yes, at least no word you could identify [Roland Windemeer]: ooc I've got a lot of occult, but not Mythos. Does this ring any bells with me? [Keeper]: No [Roland Windemeer]: ooc ok [Keeper]: Only Cthulhu Mythos will help you translate this [William Hollis]: ooc-does it for me? [Nick Johnson]: ooc don't I have some of that...not that I want to know what it is... [Keeper]: Roll DICE for William Hollis: (1d100) : 1d100=73 = [ 73 ] [Keeper]: Not even close [Eric Macaulay]: ooc didn't a bunch of us have a little mythos? William Hollis shrugs [Keeper]: Yes, but you don't have experiance with this branch [Nick Johnson]: ooc I thought mine was the only carryover from the one shot [Nick Johnson]: ooc or am I mistaken on that? [Eric Macaulay]: ooc I don't know [Keeper]: It did. [William Hollis]: with this tentacle you mean :P [Keeper]: If you want to roll you can, but only a critical success will help [Nick Johnson]: ooc well, don't really know if I want to...heh William Hollis keeps listening Eric Macaulay doesn't want to [Keeper]: Some of you have Mythos knowledge that does apply in other areas that I'd give you a propper roll for, but the big C is not one of them... yet. [Nick Johnson]: ooc ahh, what the heck DICE for Nick Johnson: (1d100) : 1d100=43 = [ 43 ] Eric Macaulay sighs of relief Roland Windemeer waits to see what happens. [Nick Johnson]: ooc not even close [Keeper]: The footsteps in the hallway head down to the left and you hear a cabin door shut Roland Windemeer waits to see what happens. [Keeper]: Nothing is happening now [Nick Johnson]: "Well, perhaps our grey scaley thing got on board after all." Roland Windemeer is still waiting. Leg beginning to cramp... He gets up and sits on a bunk. Eric Macaulay whispers "should we go out and check?" Nick Johnson sighs Nick Johnson goes to the door Nick Johnson listens at door [Keeper]: Roll Nick DICE for Nick Johnson: (1d100) : 1d100=45 = [ 45 ] William Hollis goes to the window and shines the flashlight outside (Keeper whispered to William Hollis): No sound in the hallway (Keeper whispered to Nick Johnson): No sound in the hallway (Keeper whispered to William Hollis): sorry, you can't spot anyone outside. :) Nick Johnson whispers "Well, should I take a look?" Eric Macaulay nods William Hollis nods to Nick Eric Macaulay creeps up behind nick [Nick Johnson]: "boy, you are sure helpful people" Eric Macaulay readies flashlight and gun Nick Johnson undoes the lock Nick Johnson pulls the cabin door open carefully, gun in other hand Roland Windemeer prepares to hide. [Keeper]: The hallway is... [Keeper]: empty [Eric Macaulay]: ooc lol Eric Macaulay steps out into hallway Nick Johnson draws his flashlight and shines it up and down the hallway, looking at the floor specifically Eric Macaulay turns on flashlight [Keeper]: There are small puddles of water at the end of the hallway Nick Johnson frowns Eric Macaulay looks at water closely [Nick Johnson]: Any in front of the door to the trenchcoats? [Keeper]: It appears to be ordinary water Roland Windemeer whispers "What's going on? Is there anyone there?" William Hollis looks at the doors in the hallway [Keeper]: Just the first one William Hollis tries one of them to see if it will open Eric Macaulay walks back to others [Keeper]: The door is locked, William Roland Windemeer carefully moves to the doorway and peeks out in both directions, then pulls his head back. [Eric Macaulay]: "seems to be ordinary water" Eric Macaulay tries to locate the origin of the water [Eric Macaulay]: are the puddles in some sort of pattern? [William Hollis]: which way do the puddles come from? [Keeper]: There don't appear to be any leaks or any source that you can see [Keeper]: They lead to the end of the hallway and up the stairs there Roland Windemeer sees the corridor is empty. He goes to a puddle and tries to determine whether it is fresh or salt water. [Keeper]: You can only do that by tasting it; still want to? [Roland Windemeer]: ooc hmm William Hollis slowly heads up the stairs with gun drawn [Eric Macaulay]: do they look like footsteps from someone who was wet? Nick Johnson follows William [Roland Windemeer]: no Roland Windemeer I'll give it a sniff and leave it at that. [Keeper]: They could be, but they're indistinct so you can't be absolutely certain [Keeper]: Well, roll Roland DICE for Roland Windemeer: (1d100) : 1d100=28 = [ 28 ] [Keeper]: William the footsteps continue up to the first class section where there are puddles in the carpet and then up again [Roland Windemeer]: ooc I have 50 bio skill if that helps. (Keeper whispered to Roland Windemeer): It does smell salty. Nick Johnson looks at William [Nick Johnson]: "Up again?" William Hollis continues to follow the puddles, making sure Nick is still with him Eric Macaulay looks around, makes sure the hallway is empty, and follows Nick, who is following William (Keeper whispered to Roland Windemeer): Well, it's not urine so I don't know how much that would help. :) Roland Windemeer catches up with the guys Nick Johnson follows William with Gun drawn [Keeper]: They lead up onto deck, but there it's all washed out with the rain Nick Johnson nods Eric Macaulay follows Nick and William, with gun drawn William Hollis sighs Nick Johnson puts gun away, heads back to cabin [Roland Windemeer]: "I think that water was sea water. Something must have been soaked to track it all the way in here from the ocean. [Eric Macaulay]: "nothing?" Nick Johnson nods [Eric Macaulay]: "Perhaps it was the grey thing" William Hollis takes a look around the deck [Nick Johnson]: "nothing" [Keeper]: The deck is vacant [Roland Windemeer]: "Could be. Worth checking, though." William Hollis heads back down Roland Windemeer follows william. [William Hollis]: the puddles ended at a door right? [Keeper]: As far as you can tell [Keeper]: Just before the door there's a lot of water from the weather Eric Macaulay heads back down [Roland Windemeer]: do we know who occupies that room? William Hollis goes to the door the puddles ended at, and puts his ear against the door [Keeper]: It was one of the trenchcoated men [Roland Windemeer]: ok [Keeper]: Roll William Nick Johnson examines the door closely DICE for William Hollis: (1d100) : 1d100=97 = [ 97 ] [William Hollis]: ooc-uh oh [William Hollis]: ooc willam falls through the door onto a dinner table (Keeper whispered to William Hollis): Hear the sound of running water [Eric Macaulay]: ooc lol [William Hollis]: "i hear running water" [Eric Macaulay]: "there is no plumbing, strange..." Nick Johnson whispers "lets just go back to the cabin" William Hollis keeps listening Eric Macaulay nods [Keeper]: You don't hear anything new Nick Johnson waits for William William Hollis goes back to his room Eric Macaulay heads back to cabin Eric Macaulay goes inside Roland Windemeer goes to his cabin [Eric Macaulay]: ooc Keeper are the lights still out? William Hollis makes sure to lock the door [Keeper]: Yes Roland Windemeer also locks his door once Eric is inside. [Keeper]: It's now nearly 2am guys [Keeper]: Got any other plans for the evening? [Nick Johnson]: "Lets go to sleep, or try to." [Roland Windemeer]: "Well, Eric, we may as well try to sleep." [Nick Johnson]: not dying comes to mind [Eric Macaulay]: "yeah, I'm getting kind of tired" [Roland Windemeer]: "Do you have anything that may serve as a doorstop?" Eric Macaulay gets himself ready for bed" [Eric Macaulay]: "other than my suitcase? no" [Roland Windemeer]: "I do not. except for a few books which probably wouldn't work so well." [Keeper]: Good idea, Roland. The cabin doors do open inward if you want to baracade them [Roland Windemeer]: "Well, lets stack our suitcases iun front of the door to be safe." [Eric Macaulay]: "we could try to pile up...my thoughts exactly Eric Macaulay puts his suitcase infront of the door Nick Johnson goes into his cabin, waits for william, shuts door and locks it Nick Johnson puts his suitcase in front of door as well Eric Macaulay hopes Nick and William do the same Eric Macaulay smiles to himself Nick Johnson says to William "You know, I was going to bring something for this but I forgot" Roland Windemeer puts his suitcase on Eric's. William Hollis pushes his bed against the door [Keeper]: Can't do that [Eric Macaulay]: ooc lol [Nick Johnson]: "But a good EDS is all about adaptation and improvisiation" [William Hollis]: dang [Keeper]: These are bunks mounted into the wall William Hollis P Nick Johnson stacks he and William's suitcases against the door Roland Windemeer tries to get some sleep. [Eric Macaulay]: "Good night roland" [Nick Johnson]: "Good night William, I'm sorry you almost died." [Roland Windemeer]: "Good night." [Keeper]: It's difficult to sleep during the storm but you all do eventually manage to drift off [William Hollis]: "uh....yeah" [Nick Johnson]: "But I'm glad you didn't" Eric Macaulay gets into bed, rolls around for a bit, and finally sleeps [Keeper]: Come morning the storm is still going on, but it's severity has lessened. [Eric Macaulay]: ooc I'm guess we are awake now? [Keeper]: The ship no longer shakes as violently as it did last night [Roland Windemeer]: ooc I like to sleep late. [Keeper]: Well, unless you want to try to catch some extra sleep Eric Macaulay gets out of bed Roland Windemeer tries to catch some extra sleep. Nick Johnson gets out of bed, tells william to sleep a little longer Eric Macaulay sees Roland and quietly moves suitcases and goes to Nick and William's cabin door Nick Johnson moves suitcases and goes out into the hall, locking cabin door behind him Eric Macaulay knocks quietly, but firmly [Nick Johnson]: "Mornin" [Keeper]: The lighting is still out, and there's barely enough light to see by in the cabins [Eric Macaulay]: ooc hits Nick on the nose with his knock : ) [Keeper]: The hallway is rather dark still Eric Macaulay goes back to cabin, grabs his flashlight Nick Johnson readies his flashlight and shines it around Eric Macaulay turns on flashlight, and greets Nick [Eric Macaulay]: "Good morning, sleep well?" [Nick Johnson]: "as well as can be expected" [Eric Macaulay]: "Roland is still trying to sleep" Nick Johnson rolls his eyes [Nick Johnson]: "Same for William." Roland Windemeer snores and rolls over. [Eric Macaulay]: "sleepy heads" [Nick Johnson]: "Lets go get some breakfast" [Eric Macaulay]: "I agree" [Nick Johnson]: "See if we can learn the current status" Eric Macaulay nods Nick Johnson heads to the mess hall, or whever there is food Eric Macaulay follows Nick [Keeper]: The dining hall is on the top deck Nick Johnson heads to the top deck [Keeper]: With the power still out breakfast is whatever was accessable in the ship's stores Eric Macaulay goes to the top deck [Roland Windemeer]: ooc is there a poop deck on this ship? [Roland Windemeer]: ooc sorry... that was immature. Eric Macaulay grabs some fruit and eats it [Keeper]: Well, breakfast is consisting of fruit and cold water mainly [Eric Macaulay]: ooc if there is fruit Nick Johnson does likewise [Nick Johnson]: Is there anyone to talk to? [Eric Macaulay]: ooc ah good fruit [Keeper]: There's some cold bacon as well [Nick Johnson]: Cooked I Assume? [Keeper]: Several passangers are gathered up there and there are members of the crew answering questions about the status of the ship [Keeper]: roll guys Eric Macaulay decides against eating the cold bacon DICE for Nick Johnson: (1d100) : 1d100=4 = [ 4 ] DICE for Eric Macaulay: (1d100) : 1d100=19 = [ 19 ] [Keeper]: Yes, cooked [Nick Johnson]: "Pork, its the other white meat" Eric Macaulay reconsiders and takes some bacon Nick Johnson takes a few strips of bacon to go with his fruit [Keeper]: You both notice that two of the trenchcoated men are sitting here having an intense discussion Nick Johnson listens to what the crewmen are saying Eric Macaulay walks over to one of the less busy crewmen Nick Johnson tries to listen to the Trenchcoat men whithout appearing to do so Eric Macaulay listens to the crewmen [Nick Johnson]: natural like, if you know what I mean (Keeper whispered to Nick Johnson): You notice their odd features that they both share but wear their hats low to conceal Eric Macaulay tries to eaves drop on the trenchcoat men, stealthly (Keeper whispered to Nick Johnson): Huge bulging eyes, a pallad almost grey complexion (Keeper whispered to Nick Johnson): A nose that almost looks smashed in it's so flat (Nick Johnson whispered to Keeper): What language are they speaking in (Keeper whispered to Nick Johnson): From the snippits you catch it's English [Keeper]: Eric, roll William Hollis wakes up and gets dressed and everything wondering where Nick went off to (Nick Johnson whispered to Keeper): Can I make out anything that they are saying? DICE for Eric Macaulay: (1d100) : 1d100=3 = [ 3 ] [Eric Macaulay]: ooc woo [Nick Johnson]: ooc go eric [Keeper]: The crewmen are informing everyone that the problem is external to the ship and they will deal with it as soon as it's safe to send a man into the water William Hollis opens the door and looks into the hallway [Keeper]: There will be a delay of only a few days on the trip [Keeper]: The hallway is clear (Keeper whispered to Eric Macaulay): "At least it stopped him." (Keeper whispered to Eric Macaulay): "The sign will hold but I fear they'll try a more desperate action next time." William Hollis goes over to the door that had the puddle by it and listens at it (Keeper whispered to Eric Macaulay): "They're going to kill us." (Keeper whispered to Eric Macaulay): "No, we'll make it on shore." [Eric Macaulay]: ooc how many trenchcoat men were there? (Keeper whispered to Eric Macaulay): "To an island. They'll find us! Maybe we should give it back." [Nick Johnson]: ooc 3 [Keeper]: William doesn't hear anything at the door (Nick Johnson whispered to Keeper): so I assume I can't make out what they are saying at all... William Hollis shrugs and heads on up to find Nick (Keeper whispered to Eric Macaulay): "They'll still kill us anyways. For better or worse we've thrown our lot in with him." [Keeper]: The trenchcoat men get up and walk out at this point Nick Johnson goes over to Eric (Keeper whispered to Nick Johnson): No. I'm not repeating that whole conversation. :) (Nick Johnson whispered to Keeper): no problem, I don't think I wanted to here it anyway ;-) Eric Macaulay whispers to Nick, "you saw them right?" Nick Johnson nods Eric Macaulay whispers "I heard a little of their conversation [Nick Johnson]: "Saw them? They don't look to good." [Nick Johnson]: "What did they say?" (Keeper whispered to William Hollis): You pass the two trenchcoated men on the way up and now's a good time for you to enter. Eric Macaulay whispers "that at least IT stopped him, The sign would hold but they fear others will try a more desperate action next time" William Hollis enters the dining hall [Nick Johnson]: "Must have been talking about the you know what" Nick Johnson motions for William to come over Eric Macaulay continues "they were worried about being killed, but the other said they would make it to shore. The other remarked to an island, they would be found, and that the should give it back" Roland Windemeer wakes up, groggily. William Hollis goes over to Nick "what's going on?" Eric Macaulay continues "They would still kill them anyways. They've thrown their lot in with him... That's it, they left after that" Roland Windemeer heads to the bathroom to shave and get cleaned up. [Nick Johnson]: "eric over heard a bizzare conversation with the trenchcoats" [Eric Macaulay]: "Does that click with what you heard before?'' [Nick Johnson]: ooc scroll up and read it, and save us the trouble ;-) [Nick Johnson]: "Maybe" William Hollis listens to Nick and Eric Eric Macaulay offers William some breakfast [Nick Johnson]: "What sign I wonder. We need to look at that door." William Hollis looks at what Eric is offering him [Nick Johnson]: "I got a good look at our friends william...they don't look to good." Roland Windemeer returns to his cabin. [Eric Macaulay]: "You're right, they said a lot of strange things [Roland Windemeer]: [William Hollis]: "in what way don't they look good?" [Nick Johnson]: "Very large and bulging eyes, Super flat noses, very grey complextion" Eric Macaulay offers William, either a banana or an apple, and a few strips of cold bacon [William Hollis]: "ah....in that sort of way" [Roland Windemeer]: ooc they're aliens? Is this the X-Files now? kidding.. Nick Johnson reminds William Pork is the other white meat William Hollis takes the apple and bacon and thanks Eric Eric Macaulay nods, and eats his banana [Keeper]: Hey. Pop culture stole the Greys from HP Lovecraft. ;) Roland Windemeer begins taking notes on the events of last night. He specifically notes the upside down anhk and mentions in his notes that he should research it further. [Nick Johnson]: "I think they were referring to whatever that was last night, but maybe I am wrong." [Eric Macaulay]: "I wonder who they were talking about, they seemed pretty scared for their lives" [Nick Johnson]: "Still, I don't know if we can fully trust them. Not sure what to think." Eric Macaulay shrugs and finishes his banana [William Hollis]: [Nick Johnson]: "Oh and William, the crew claim that the problem is *external*, and that they'll get someone to fix it when the storm abates." Eric Macaulay looks to William, who seems like he's about to say something William Hollis whispers to Nick "they wouldn't happen to have been scaley would they?" [Nick Johnson]: "Maybe we should talk to them, except I don't know how they'd take it." Nick Johnson shakes his head at William Eric Macaulay is sad that William decided not to share with him Eric Macaulay frowns [Eric Macaulay]: ooc ; ) [Nick Johnson]: "A definate grey complexion, but no scales that I could see" William Hollis whispers the same thing to eric :P Eric Macaulay is happy now [Nick Johnson]: "I think they are different from what you saw in the water, and that what you saw came on board and tried to enter a cabin, but something stopped it." Eric Macaulay smiles [Nick Johnson]: "But what?" [William Hollis]: "i think we should try and talk to those guys before it is too late" [Nick Johnson]: "They mentioned a sign. What sign?" [Nick Johnson]: "I think maybe you are right." Roland Windemeer finishes writing and takes a closer look at the hallway. He looks to see if the water is still there or anything else unusual. [Keeper]: There is no more water in the hallway Eric Macaulay nods [Nick Johnson]: "Lets go back to the cabin then." [Roland Windemeer]: ok, I head up to find some grub William Hollis finishes eating and goes back down to the cabin Eric Macaulay heads back to cabin, but stops to get some food for Roland Nick Johnson gets some fruit to bring Roland, and another piece of bacon to nibble on Eric Macaulay grabs some food for himself as well [Keeper]: You both meet halfway [Eric Macaulay]: "Morning" Nick Johnson gives Roland some fruit and bacon [Roland Windemeer]: "I'm going to get some brunch." [Nick Johnson]: "Hungry? we bought some food." Eric Macaulay was about to offer Roland some fruit, but now decides to keep it for himself ; ) [Roland Windemeer]: "Oh, Thanks. I'm pretty hungry, though. Is this all they had?" Nick Johnson nods Eric Macaulay nods [Nick Johnson]: "Fruit and Bacon" [Roland Windemeer]: "Hmm. Well, considering how things are going, I think I may make my own stash. I'll go grab some food and meet you back in a few minutes." Nick Johnson nods Eric Macaulay heads back to cabin Roland Windemeer procedes to the dining hall keeping an eye out for anything unusual. Nick Johnson goes and examines the door that the puddble was in front of very closely [Keeper]: Roll Nick DICE for Nick Johnson: (1d100) : 1d100=70 = [ 70 ] Eric Macaulay goes to examine the door of one of the trenchcoat men [Keeper]: And Eric Nick Johnson moves on to examine each of the next two doors DICE for Eric Macaulay: (1d100) : 1d100=83 = [ 83 ] William Hollis goes by nick "see anything?" (Keeper whispered to Nick Johnson): You can't spot anything exotic about the door Nick Johnson shakes his head [Keeper]: Roll one more time Nick DICE for Nick Johnson: (1d100) : 1d100=75 = [ 75 ] Eric Macaulay continues on with the next few doors Eric Macaulay or 2 (Keeper whispered to Nick Johnson): The doors appear exactly the same as every other door on the ship [Nick Johnson]: "Nothing" [Keeper]: Eric roll one more time then as well DICE for Eric Macaulay: (1d100) : 1d100=25 = [ 25 ] [William Hollis]: "want to see if anyone is home? or should we wait?" [Nick Johnson]: "Wait" [Eric Macaulay]: ooc uh which door am I in front of right now? : ) [Roland Windemeer]: Is there anyone left in the dining hall? [Nick Johnson]: " Just a little" (Keeper whispered to Eric Macaulay): The first door has a dent and scratch near the handle [Keeper]: There are a few people [Eric Macaulay]: "Guys look at this" motions for Nick and William to come over [Keeper]: The storm is still going on and there isn't power so not many people are heading there Nick Johnson goes over to ERic and looks at what he's pointing at. William Hollis goes over by Eric "what is it?" [Eric Macaulay]: "see there is a dent and scratch near the handle Nick Johnson examines the dent and scratch [Roland Windemeer]: I'd like to sit with someone who looks amiable and casually question them on last night. LIke, "how'd you sleep, hear anything funny?" [Nick Johnson]: Is the dent and scratch in some sort of pattern? (Keeper whispered to Roland Windemeer): You meet Ms. Betty Cockrell who's going to explore Europe before starting college. She's travelling steerage and didn't hear anything last night except the storm and engine problems [Keeper]: Not really it's just a spot on the door in a nearly straight line [Nick Johnson]: Horizontal or vertical? [Eric Macaulay]: can we determine what made the dent and the scratch? (Roland Windemeer whispered to Keeper): I make smalltalk with her for a few minutes and then tell her if she'd like to talk again she can see me in my cabin. [Keeper]: More horizontal than vertical [Nick Johnson]: Sort of a diagonal then... [Eric Macaulay]: how big is the dent? Nick Johnson checks to see if there is a similar mark on the other two doors [Keeper]: Very small. It doesn't go deep and it's about three inches long [Keeper]: The other doors are not marked like this [Eric Macaulay]: ok [Nick Johnson]: "dunno what to make of it" Eric Macaulay shrugs [William Hollis]: "i'm going to talk to these guys and see what is going on..." William Hollis heads over to the door that had the puddle in front of it [Nick Johnson]: "Ok, but do you want to wait on Roland?" Eric Macaulay can't think of anything else to do Roland Windemeer tries to surreptisiouly grab a bunch of food and then go back to the cabins. [William Hollis]: "okay, well wait a few minutes for roland" [Nick Johnson]: "ok" Eric Macaulay nods William Hollis checks his watch [Eric Macaulay]: ooc where is the door that had the puddle in front of it, in relation to the marked door? [Keeper]: It's not quite 10am yet [Keeper]: That is the door Roland Windemeer get to the hallway and sees everyone standing around. [Eric Macaulay]: ooc oh : ) [Roland Windemeer]: "Find something interesing?" [Eric Macaulay]: "yes actually, we found some markings on this door" [Roland Windemeer]: Hmm. Is it some kind of writing? [Eric Macaulay]: "Not that I can tell, just some scratches and a dent" [Roland Windemeer]: Oh. Well give me a moment to drop off this food and I'll join you. [William Hollis]: "i'm going to try now" Nick Johnson nods [Eric Macaulay]: "go ahead" William Hollis knocks on the door Roland Windemeer goes into his cabin, puts the food down in a safe place, and comes back out. Roland Windemeer joins the others at the door. [Keeper]: Which door are you knocking on? [William Hollis]: the one that the puddle was in front of [Keeper]: There is no answer [Roland Windemeer]: "So we're going to talk to the fellows in the coats? William Hollis puts his ear to the door and listens [Keeper]: Roll DICE for William Hollis: (1d100) : 1d100=80 = [ 80 ] (Keeper whispered to William Hollis): You don't hear anything behind the door William Hollis knocks again [Keeper]: There is no response [Roland Windemeer]: "Perhaps they are meeting in one of the other rooms." [Eric Macaulay]: "let's try another" [William Hollis]: "well, what should we do, shall i try another door?" [Nick Johnson]: "Sure" [William Hollis]: i really want to get into that room though [Eric Macaulay]: "you could try to pick the lock" (Keeper whispered to William Hollis): Remember what happened last time you tried to pick the lock ;-) [William Hollis]: "yeah, but maybe we should try talking first [Eric Macaulay]: "I agree" William Hollis goes to the next door and knocks Eric Macaulay follows William [Keeper]: There's a voice from inside the cabin: "Leave us. We do not wish to talk with anyone." [William Hollis]: "ah....someone is home" Nick Johnson raises his eyebrows [Roland Windemeer]: from the second cabin? [Keeper]: Right. the one you're at now [William Hollis]: "I just wanted to ask you if you heard anything strange last night" [Nick Johnson]: "Or have seen anything strange" Roland Windemeer calls through the door, "Sirs, we may have something in common to speak about." [Keeper]: "No. There was nothing." [William Hollis]: "now what?" William Hollis get's out his lock picks and looks at them Nick Johnson in a low voice "I suspect if we could talk to them at all we'd have to be more...open about what went on. But I don't know if admitting we know something strange went on is a good idea or not." [Roland Windemeer]: "I'm sure that a conversation between us would be mutually beneficial. You see, I am a professor at Miskatonic university, studying Egypt and the pyramids. Somehow I feel that theat very topic has become crucial to understanding what is happening on this ship." William Hollis starts to edge over to the door that the puddle was in front of [Keeper]: "We have no interest in your studies. Leave." Eric Macaulay motions to William to proceed Eric Macaulay whispers "try to keep them busy" William Hollis whispers "keep them busy" [William Hollis]: :) Roland Windemeer whispers to the guys, "I'm about to mention the grey fish from last night, okay?" Nick Johnson stares at William and Eric and rolls his eyes William Hollis tries to pick the lock on the door Roland Windemeer whispers, oh ok Eric Macaulay just chuckles to himself [Keeper]: Roll William DICE for William Hollis: (1d100) : 1d100=39 = [ 39 ] [Roland Windemeer]: "But sirs, I have reason to believe you would be very interested..." [Keeper]: The door catches and you can turn the handle Eric Macaulay heads over to William, with flashlight ready [Roland Windemeer]: "I was walking in the hallway last night and thought I heard you mention Egypt." William Hollis cautiously turns the handle, pushes the door open and stands to the side of the door William Hollis waits and then peeks inside the room [Roland Windemeer]: "None of my companions is knowledgable in the field and I had so hoped to speak with someone on the subject, especially now that our voyage has been lenghtened." [Keeper]: The room is windowless, but on the floor in chalk is a stylized pentagram with some kind of eye in the middle of it [Nick Johnson]: "Hmmmpf. By a few days at least." [Eric Macaulay]: examines pentagram Eric Macaulay examines pentagram [William Hollis]: ooc-do i know the meaning of the pentagram/eye? [Keeper]: "We have no interest in Egypt. We merely wish to be left alone." [Eric Macaulay]: ooc or do I? [Keeper]: No, you've never encountered it before William Hollis shines the flashlight around the room [Keeper]: There's blood smeared on the back wall Eric Macaulay takes out a notebook and copies the pentagram down to his best abilities [Keeper]: It's a simple patern and you can copy it quite easily William Hollis looks for any documents or interesting items [Roland Windemeer]: "Is astronomy more your field? I also dabble in the study of stars and planets. In fact, I have some rather interesting theories on the connection between astronomy and egyptology." Eric Macaulay shines flashlight around the room [Eric Macaulay]: ooc how is the room like, like are there drawers or anything? [Keeper]: "Your astronomy will not be of use to us." [Keeper]: No, other than the lack of window it's identical to yours [Keeper]: Two bunks on either side with storage space underneith them Eric Macaulay checks under the bed for luggage or anything else [Keeper]: Eric roll DICE for Eric Macaulay: (1d100) : 1d100=94 = [ 94 ] [William Hollis]: do i find anything? DICE for Keeper: (1d6) : 1d6=3 = [ 3 ] Roland Windemeer goes back to the other door [Eric Macaulay]: ooc uh oh [William Hollis]: sanity time Eric Macaulay nods Eric Macaulay frowns [Keeper]: Eric, you lose 2 points of SAN and scream when you find the mangled body of the third trenchcoated man under the bed [Roland Windemeer]: "Well, I'm sorry that I have wasted your time." [Keeper]: The door opens [William Hollis]: uh oh...i think we are going to get busted [Keeper]: "What are you doing?" [Eric Macaulay]: ooc oh great, my necrophobia comes back to haunt m Roland Windemeer tries to block them [Nick Johnson]: "Me? I'm standing here with my friend." [Eric Macaulay]: err e DICE for Keeper: (1d100) : 1d100=73 = [ 73 ] [Roland Windemeer]: ooc persuade. [Eric Macaulay]: err me [Eric Macaulay]: brb [Roland Windemeer]: "I think my friend had a stumble..." [Keeper]: He easily knocks Roland over as he goes out the door and finds Eric and William in the other cabin Nick Johnson nods [Nick Johnson]: ooc ok, maybe not William Hollis readies his gun [Keeper]: Roland you do spot an indentical pentegram on the floor in that cabin [Roland Windemeer]: is there anyone else in there? Roland Windemeer if not I do a quick searc while he's in the other room [Keeper]: There is the other trenchcoated man in there [Roland Windemeer]: never mind then William Hollis shines the flashlight in the guys face [Keeper]: "I am willing to overlook this if you leave now and speak of none of this." [William Hollis]: "what's going on here?" Roland Windemeer follows the man whoe left the cabin and tries to make peace with him. [Keeper]: "Should you say anything, remember that it is a small ship and I can kill you quite easily before anyone can stop me." Nick Johnson stands ready to see what the other trenchcoat does [Nick Johnson]: ooc did I hear him say that? [Keeper]: He picks Eric up and throws him out of the cabin. Literally [Keeper]: Everyone heard him say that William Hollis looks to eric [Nick Johnson]: ooc I was out in the hall, wanted to be sure [William Hollis]: "think you could answer some questions for me before i leave?" [Keeper]: He slams the door on that cabin [Roland Windemeer]: I see if I remember anything about the symbol. [Eric Macaulay]: back sorry [Keeper]: You hear him inside "Do not interfere or you will have to be killed." [Roland Windemeer]: I mean, if I know anything about it. [Keeper]: Roll, roland [William Hollis]: "interfere with what?" DICE for Roland Windemeer: (1d100) : 1d100=1 = [ 1 ] [Roland Windemeer]: ooc Yeehaw! [Eric Macaulay]: ooc nice (Keeper whispered to Roland Windemeer): Well, you remember that pentegrams are usually protective symbols, but you've never seen one formed like that Eric Macaulay slams face first into the deck Nick Johnson grabs Eric "You ok?" [Keeper]: Eric's stunned, but not hurt [Roland Windemeer]: "Guys, that pentagram is some kind of protective symbol. Did anyone note what it was drawn in? We should put them in our cabins as well. Eric Macaulay tries to get up groggly, but falls, both from the sight of the dead body, and being thrown [William Hollis]: ooc-wait a min....where exactly is everyone right now? [Keeper]: In the hall [Roland Windemeer]: hallway [Eric Macaulay]: ooc well I'm lying in the hallway [William Hollis]: okay [Nick Johnson]: Where is William? Eric Macaulay finally gathers himself together, and gets up [William Hollis]: yeah, where am i? [Keeper]: William was standing outside the door of the cabin when the trouble starte [Keeper]: So he's still in the hall [Nick Johnson]: Ahhh [William Hollis]: ah...okay [Nick Johnson]: "So much for that" Eric Macaulay hands Roland his notebook opened to the page of the copy he made [Keeper]: You're last comment was that you were shining the light inside :) [William Hollis]: it wasn't though....but anyway :P [Eric Macaulay]: "Good enough?" [Roland Windemeer]: "Eric, before you forget, try to list the dimensions of the actual symbol and any other important information. [Roland Windemeer]: "This may save us from that creature if it comes back, but only if we get it right." [Eric Macaulay]: "I copied it exactly to the best I could, it was a simple shape, so it should all be there." [Eric Macaulay]: "William do you recall any dimensions? [William Hollis]: ooc-i was looking for any docs or items inside the room....that's why i got confused [Nick Johnson]: "I don't know if the creature is here for us or not, though." [Roland Windemeer]: "Was it small enough to fit in actual size on the paper?" [Eric Macaulay]: ooc was it? [Keeper]: No [Keeper]: The sign on the floor was a few feet across Eric Macaulay shakes his head, and hangs it down [Eric Macaulay]: ooc do I remember any more specific dimensions? [Nick Johnson]: "William, you could try talking to the guy across the hall but I doubt that will yield anything." [William Hollis]: do we know what the symbol was drawn with? [Keeper]: YEs [Eric Macaulay]: "Chalk as I recall" [Keeper]: You saw it recently enough [William Hollis]: ah---okay [Eric Macaulay]: ooc the yes was to... Roland Windemeer jots down any pertinent information we may need on recreating the symbol. William Hollis whispers to Roland "if the symbol was meant to protect, how come there was a dead body in that room?" [Keeper]: Specific dimensions [Nick Johnson]: "Perhaps he didn't have the symbol to protect him?" [Eric Macaulay]: ooc ok, so I could reproduce it, if we wanted to? [Keeper]: Yes [Nick Johnson]: "You could look into the third room, not sure what you'd find though." [Roland Windemeer]: Maybe he was killed above decks and the others brought him to the room [Eric Macaulay]: "I think we should try to get into the third room, no one should be in there, he is dead remember?" shudders [William Hollis]: "that could be it Roland..." [Nick Johnson]: "Perhaps we should stop picking locks for now" [Eric Macaulay]: ooc lol [Keeper]: Just a brief point here guys [Roland Windemeer]: "I don't think it could hurt to try it for ourselves, because the symbol is almost definitely protective, even if it isn't 100% effective." [Keeper]: If you can hear them in the hall.... [Nick Johnson]: They can hear us [Eric Macaulay]: ooc D'oh! Eric Macaulay heads back to his cabin, motions for everyone to follow William Hollis whispers "i think we should just all go back to our rooms and get started on those symbols" [Roland Windemeer]: ooc I was about to suggest moving into our cabins.. Roland Windemeer follows eric. William Hollis calls out behind him "sorry to bother you gentlemen" [Eric Macaulay]: "Are you two coming?" Nick Johnson smirks Nick Johnson enters his cabin [Eric Macaulay]: ooc D'oh William Hollis ducks back into his cabin, closes and locks the door [Roland Windemeer]: ooc nick, follow eric [Nick Johnson]: "Well, I suppose that could have gone worse..." [Roland Windemeer]: ooc lets assume we're all in one cabin... [Eric Macaulay]: ooc can we? [William Hollis]: ooc-okay we are all in one cabin [Keeper]: I thought you were each going to your own [Nick Johnson]: ooc sure, but this time you have to know the password [Keeper]: If you're going to the same, then you are [Nick Johnson]: ;-) [Eric Macaulay]: what is the password? [Roland Windemeer]: ooc its ku ku kathulu Nick Johnson opens the door and lets the others in, shuts and locks it [Eric Macaulay]: : ) [Nick Johnson]: ooc hah! [Eric Macaulay]: lol [Eric Macaulay]: "Does anyone have anything I can write on the floor with? [Nick Johnson]: ooc either that or klatu barata nictu [Nick Johnson]: "We might be able to get something from the ships stores..." [Eric Macaulay]: "I think we should take a look" [Roland Windemeer]: "Or we could steal some chalk from the third room. [Nick Johnson]: "I don't think that's a good idea..." Eric Macaulay shakes his head, "too dangerous right now" [Roland Windemeer]: "Somebody should listen to see if those guys come or go.": Nick Johnson goes and listens at the door [Roland Windemeer]: "Anybody got an especially good ear." [Roland Windemeer]: ? Roland Windemeer sees Nick has volunteered. [Nick Johnson]: "For now I think its ok to say they don't mean us any harm" [Eric Macaulay]: ooc Keeper, what is the floor made of? [Roland Windemeer]: "Unless they decide they do." [Keeper]: Metal [Keeper]: It's painted, naturally [Eric Macaulay]: ooc ok [Roland Windemeer]: "We should try to stay in their good graces." [Nick Johnson]: "He could have killed Eric if he wanted, methinks" [Eric Macaulay]: ooc can I use my knife to scratch away the paint and draw the symbol? Eric Macaulay thanks his lucky stars [Keeper]: If you like Roland Windemeer grabs his notebook and copies the figure from Eri'cs notes along with other pertinent information. [Nick Johnson]: "Maybe we should wait" [Roland Windemeer]: was the paint removed in the other room? [Keeper]: No Eric Macaulay looks around at others, and hears Nick's comment ; ) [Roland Windemeer]: no need to do it here, then [Nick Johnson]: "I don't think the thing will come back until night, and maybe we can find something better to write with." [Eric Macaulay]: "But it is the only way of inscribing the symbol with what we have right now" [Eric Macaulay]: "I agree, we'll wait" [Nick Johnson]: "Well, we can look for more, and if we don't find anything, we'll do that." [Nick Johnson]: "but like I said, I'm not sure that creature is here for us" [Roland Windemeer]: "Sounds good." Nick Johnson motions towards the trench coat cabins "I think its for them" [Roland Windemeer]: "Its better safe than sorry." [Eric Macaulay]: "One can never be too safe" Nick Johnson nods [Roland Windemeer]: "Do we want to split up and look for chalk?" [Nick Johnson]: "Except that playing with this stuff is dangerous, though I trust Roland when he says its protectice" [Nick Johnson]: err protective [Eric Macaulay]: "So do I" [Nick Johnson]: "He's the expert on this, not me" [Eric Macaulay]: ooc for some strange unearthly reason ; ) [Eric Macaulay]: "He seemed to recognize it right away, hopefully he's not wrong" [Roland Windemeer]: Keeper: Do I know if these types of symbols usually require anything other than being drawn to work, like an incantation? [Eric Macaulay]: "Anything else you can recognize from the symbol that would give us a clue who these grey fellowed ones are?" [Keeper]: No, you don't know [Eric Macaulay]: "And as to what that grey scaley thing is?" [Roland Windemeer]: "I don't know its origin. Its probably not Egyptian, though, or I would have reconized it immediately. Anything else I can't say." [Nick Johnson]: "I'd guess its from the ocean" Nick Johnson shrugs Eric Macaulay goes to Nick, "weren't there three zombie fellows down in the cargo hold that we didn't take care of?" [Eric Macaulay]: "I wonder what happened to them?" [Roland Windemeer]: keeper: Does my occult knowledge include any gray guys, scaly or otherwise? [Nick Johnson]: "They fell to pieces when we killed the cultists that were controlling them." [Keeper]: Nothing beyond the idea of sea monsters [Eric Macaulay]: "oh" smiles [Nick Johnson]: "Remember, the guy reported 6 bodies" [Eric Macaulay]: "right" [Nick Johnson]: " Porter, 2 cultists, and 3 unidentifiable...which were shambling corpses" [Nick Johnson]: "Hungry ones at that" [Roland Windemeer]: "They're overboard by now." Nick Johnson nods [Keeper]: Guys, I think we're going to have to call for a stop soon Eric Macaulay nods and shuddered [Keeper]: I'm overrunning my time [Keeper]: For once [Nick Johnson]: ok, [Eric Macaulay]: I can tell [Nick Johnson]: I'm getting hungry myself [Roland Windemeer]: ooc ok. Do you have to schedule these with webRPG? Eric Macaulay nods in agreement [Keeper]: No, but I do some things in the late afternoon on Saturday [Roland Windemeer]: ok [Keeper]: We've been at this nearly six hours Nick Johnson does the still alive and sane ritual dance Eric Macaulay is able to at least do the still alive dance! [Roland Windemeer]: Seems like so little time... though my butt is starting to hurt from sitting here too long. [Keeper]: So, everyone enjoying the filler adventure? [Roland Windemeer]: Being a wimp the worst thing that happened to me this time was getting knocked over by an ET Eric Macaulay does the sharpshooter dance, and starts twirling his gun around [Nick Johnson]: Easily the most intense session yet. [Nick Johnson]: Filler....hmmmpf [Roland Windemeer]: I totally dug it Eric Macaulay keeps the safety on so he doesn't shoot anyone [Roland Windemeer]: Being a player is fun! [Eric Macaulay]: "as long as there are safeties [Nick Johnson]: I think there are safties... [Keeper]: I tried to tie this one more closely into the main story [Nick Johnson]: It was an excellent adventure though... [Nick Johnson]: I can tell that... [Eric Macaulay]: yeah [Keeper]: I kind of wish you hadn't found the zombis and cultists so fast, though [Nick Johnson]: ok guys, see ya later Nick Johnson grins evilly [Roland Windemeer]: heh [William Hollis]: heh....sorry about that [Keeper]: They would have been after you for the whole adventure throwing things off William Hollis P [Nick Johnson]: William to the rescue...sort of [Roland Windemeer]: and one great roll knocked them out [Eric Macaulay]: how did you get caught William? [Nick Johnson]: Heh, two birds with one stone [William Hollis]: well, i'm glad we took care of them [William Hollis]: how? [Roland Windemeer]: I'm glad I stayed in bed [Eric Macaulay]: yeah, you were bound and gagged and stuff [William Hollis]: well...i was trying to pick the lock on that one door, and when i couldn't i got blindsided and knocked out [Eric Macaulay]: oh I see, ouch [Eric Macaulay]: who were you following again? [Nick Johnson]: good rule: if someone is gone longer than 5 minutes go look for them... [William Hollis]: that's what i get for picking the locks [Nick Johnson]: Anyway, bye [Keeper]: So long guys. [Eric Macaulay]: with all that practice you are getting, you should get better [William Hollis]: see you all next week [Eric Macaulay]: bye [ Grandy left the game ] [Eric Macaulay]: next week
