[Sat Jul 08 11:07:06 PDT 2000] [Keeper]: Well, my clock is approaching noon, so lets get started [Early Hutz]: ok [Nick Johnson]: ok [Keeper]: Nick and William were at the importers finding somethings were wrong [Keeper]: Early was still at the hospital [Nick Johnson]: Silas was absent. [William Hollis]: i think you got that wrong......i had just built my time machine..... Nick Johnson laughs [Nick Johnson]: good point. [William Hollis]: and gone into the future to get some booberry cereal [Keeper]: If you want a time machine you should be aware that they have more nasty reprocussions in Cthulhu [Keeper]: than they do in most games Nick Johnson arches an eyebrow [William Hollis]: you mean it's possible...heh.... [William Hollis]: okay, lets move on.... [Keeper]: Right, so you're in the importer; there's three burly guys there, and a bullet hole in the door frame [Nick Johnson]: And they are closed, and no Silas. [Nick Johnson]: "Do you know when Silas will return?" [Keeper]: That's what they're saying [Keeper]: "He won't be back today." [William Hollis]: what is the attitude of the three burly guys, do they look threatening or aggressive? [Keeper]: Roll William DICE for William Hollis: (1d100) : 1d100=79 = [ 79 ] [Keeper]: They appear to be rather bored actually [Keeper]: They're leaning up against the wall appearing uninterested in you William Hollis points to the bullet hole in the doorframe "hey, what's that?" [Keeper]: "We had some trouble." [Nick Johnson]: "Trouble?" [William Hollis]: "ah....someone didn't find what they were looking for?" [Keeper]: "Trouble happens often in this neighborhood." [Keeper]: "He found what he needed." [Keeper]: Both of you roll [Keeper]: Twice DICE for Nick Johnson: (1d100) : 1d100=31 = [ 31 ] DICE for Nick Johnson: (1d100) : 1d100=86 = [ 86 ] DICE for William Hollis: (1d100) : 1d100=80 = [ 80 ] DICE for William Hollis: (1d100) : 1d100=29 = [ 29 ] (Keeper whispered to Nick Johnson): An oddly curved knife in a display case looks familiar to you Nick Johnson turning to William, he puts his hand on Williams shoulder and squeezes "I guess we will have to come back." [William Hollis]: "could i leave a note for what's his name....?" [Keeper]: "I'll make sure he gets it." [Nick Johnson]: ooc- what was the guy from the beginning's name, that we were supposed to meet? William Hollis writes the note and gives it to one of the men [Early Hutz]: Elias [Early Hutz]: Jackson Elias [Nick Johnson]: Thanks Early [Keeper]: As you hand over the note a huge african dressed as a dock worker enters the store Nick Johnson examines the dock worker [Keeper]: He glances at you and speaks a few words in a foreign language to one of the men William Hollis looks at the dock worker [Keeper]: He appears to be middle aged, but in excellent health [Nick Johnson]: does that language sound familiar? [William Hollis]: do i recognize the language? [Keeper]: Roll guys DICE for Nick Johnson: (1d100) : 1d100=6 = [ 6 ] DICE for William Hollis: (1d100) : 1d100=24 = [ 24 ] [Keeper]: It sounds just like what you heard the assailents speaking in the hotel room the previous night William Hollis looks at Nick [Nick Johnson]: "William, we'd better be going" Nick Johnson walks to the door [William Hollis]: "i agree, let's go" William Hollis heads for the door [Keeper]: Roll again guys as you head out DICE for William Hollis: (1d100) : 1d100=73 = [ 73 ] DICE for Nick Johnson: (1d100) : 1d100=7 = [ 7 ] (Keeper whispered to Nick Johnson): There's three guys watching you from an ally across the street Nick Johnson gets in the car and prepares to drive off [William Hollis]: "hey, wait for me!" William Hollis gets into the car (Keeper whispered to William Hollis): William, I need to know exactly what was in the note you wrote Nick Johnson was only preparing to drive off :) Nick Johnson starts car and begins to drive back to office. [Nick Johnson]: "William, did you notice the knife in the case?" (William Hollis whispered to Keeper): i just asked him to call me back because i wanted to talk with him about something and if he knows of that africas dark secrets book [William Hollis]: "what knife?" [Nick Johnson]: "there was a curved knife in the display case, and it looked exactly like the one our assailants from the hotel room had" [Nick Johnson]: "Also, there were 3 guys in the alley across the street watching us closely" [William Hollis]: "so, you think those are the guys that did it?" Nick Johnson frowns [Nick Johnson]: "definately, but they had a big advantage over us. I think we found our cult" [Nick Johnson]: "And I think something has happened to Early and Bernard" [Nick Johnson]: "They had to be involved in the bullet hole there." [William Hollis]: "where do you think they are?" (Keeper whispered to Early Hutz): When they get back to the office, that would be a good time to "call" them [Nick Johnson]: "Not a clue. We need to get back the office, and then we have a few options." [William Hollis]: "let's check back at the office to see if they are there or called" (Early Hutz whispered to Keeper): I was just getting ready to make a phone call ;-) [Nick Johnson]: "We can start calling hospitals. We can call the police to see if there was an incident reported down there." William Hollis nods [Nick Johnson]: "And, we need to decide if we want to tip the police off about the shop" Early Hutz asks the doctors if I can use a phone. (Keeper whispered to Early Hutz): Yep, you're all patched up [Nick Johnson]: "And if we do, do we do it anonimously?" (Keeper whispered to Early Hutz): Eight stitches [William Hollis]: "i think that would be the way to go" (Keeper whispered to Early Hutz): It'll probably leave a scar Early Hutz places a call to the office [Nick Johnson]: "If we call the police and give them the lead, they will want to know how we got it" (Early Hutz whispered to Keeper): chicks dig scars William Hollis nods [Nick Johnson]: "It might be possible to say Jackson had already mentioned the place, and that we went down to check it out because he wanted us too in a previous corespondance" [Nick Johnson]: "Then we can say we noticed the bullet hole, knife, etc, and we might get by like that" (Keeper whispered to Early Hutz): You can only get ahold of Gerald Mould, your boss [William Hollis]: "i don't think we should tell them who we are if we do call the police....too many questions if we do that" [Nick Johnson]: "I definately am not going to say we lifted evidence off the crime scene." (Early Hutz whispered to Keeper): I guess I'll whisper this, too. (Keeper whispered to Early Hutz): What do you want to share with him? [Nick Johnson]: "We'll decide on a course of action back at the office." (Early Hutz whispered to Keeper): Tell Nick and William to meet me at (whatever hospital I'm at). And STAY AWAY from the importer's office! [Nick Johnson]: "I am worried about Bernard and Early though. But we were grossly outnumbered at the shop. Its hearsay, but the dock worker spoke the same language as the thugs from the hotel." [William Hollis]: "drive a bit faster Nick, i want to get back to the office sometime today" [Nick Johnson]: "Given all the other evidence though, that had to be the cult. And I think he came in there on purpose." Nick Johnson drives a bit faster, but still keeps it within reason of traffic laws (Early Hutz whispered to Keeper): :hangs up, asks doctor about Bernard. [Keeper]: Well, you're back at the office now... [Nick Johnson]: to a secretary "Any messages?" [William Hollis]: "i think we should first find Early and Bernard, and then decide what to do (Keeper whispered to Early Hutz): "It was touch and go for a while, but he'll live. It's going to be at least a week before he's back on his feet. He still hasn't regained conciousness, yet." (Early Hutz whispered to Keeper): "Thanks, doc." [Nick Johnson]: "Agreed." [Keeper]: Early's been shot and Bernard's dead! [Nick Johnson]: "What?" (Early Hutz whispered to Keeper): lol [William Hollis]: "dead?" [Keeper]: "He's in Harlam Regional Hospital." Nick Johnson looks at William. [William Hollis]: "damn, lets get over there" [Keeper]: "You've got other messages, but they can wait..." Nick Johnson rushes to car, waits for William, motors over to the hospital. (Keeper whispered to Early Hutz): Good thing she related that vital information about keeping away from the importers too, huh? (Early Hutz whispered to Keeper): I'm gonna have her ass fired! [Keeper]: You manage to get all the way back over there and find Early waiting in the lobby for you [Nick Johnson]: "Early, what the hell happened?" [Early Hutz]: "Well, I think I found the cult." [Nick Johnson]: "I know you did. You'd be surprised what our research turned up." [William Hollis]: "at the shop?" [Early Hutz]: "Bernard and I took some bullets, but we'll both pull through." [Nick Johnson]: "Bernard isn't dead?" [William Hollis]: "the message said that Bernard was dead...." [Early Hutz]: "What? No. He's still unconscious, but the doctors say he'll be back on his feet within a week." [Early Hutz]: "I think the secretary's drinking again." Nick Johnson relaxes a little [William Hollis]: "well that's a relief" [Nick Johnson]: "It happens..." [Early Hutz]: "She at least told you to stay away from the importers, right?" [Nick Johnson]: "too little too late" [William Hollis]: "we just stopped by the shop looking for you two" [Nick Johnson]: "We went to the shop. We figured you ran into trouble." [Early Hutz]: "Did you have any troubles?" [Nick Johnson]: "Silas wasn't there. We found a bullet hole, and several other interesting things." [Nick Johnson]: "None." [Early Hutz]: "Yeah, not all of the bullets hit us." [Nick Johnson]: "I decided against mentioning you or Jackson after I saw the bullet hole in the door, and a familiar looking curved knife in a display case." [William Hollis]: "when did they start shooting at you?" [Early Hutz]: "Silas is not a good person. I used him as a shield to get out of there, but I couldn't keep him once we got to the hospital." [Early Hutz]: "The shooting pretty much started after I threatened Silas." [Nick Johnson]: "As for our reasearch, there have actually been 9 murders. All the exact same. There is evidence there is a cult in Harlam, which William and I figured might be at the importer." [Nick Johnson]: "you threatened Silas?" [Early Hutz]: "He clearly recognized Elias' name, but he was playing dumb." [Early Hutz]: "I told him he might be the next dead guy if he didn't tell us what he knew." [Nick Johnson]: "William, tell him what you discovered about the book." [Nick Johnson]: "Geez, Early. Way to exercise caution." [Nick Johnson]: ooc :-P [William Hollis]: ooc- remind me what i discovered about the book :) [Early Hutz]: "He's a frail old man. I didn't know he had goons backing him up!" [Nick Johnson]: ooc - I don't remember. It wasn't there, right? There was something else, though. [Keeper]: See, this is why it was so horrible that I lost power last week... The book mysteriously vanished from the Harvard Library leaving nothing but a foul stench [Nick Johnson]: Did we smell some wierd stuff at the shop? [William Hollis]: "the book Elias was looking for was stolen from the harvard library and there was a foul stench left behind" [Nick Johnson]: I cannot remember. [Early Hutz]: "This whole thing has a foul stench." [Keeper]: Just the usual weird smells in a place that has a lot of rotting antiques. [William Hollis]: "the book was called africas dark secrets" [Nick Johnson]: that's right...I must be thinking of the previous adventur. [Nick Johnson]: "Well, we have several options." Early Hutz tries to remember if he has that book in his personal book collection. . . . [William Hollis]: "i think we had some other messages at the office....i think we should check those first" [Nick Johnson]: "Do some more digging, though I am not sure what we will find. We might be able to find another copy of that book." [Keeper]: You definitely do not, Early [Nick Johnson]: "We will check those messages for sure. We also need to contact the police." [Early Hutz]: "There's nothing we can do here for Bernard, so let's head back." [William Hollis]: "okay, you can contact the police while i find out what those messages are" [Nick Johnson]: "Wait Early, we can call to check the messages." [Nick Johnson]: "Our dilemna was whether or not to anonymously contact the police." [Nick Johnson]: "Or whether to at all." [Keeper]: I have to point out the police will not take kindly to one of your group using a business owner as a human shield [Early Hutz]: "Well, Silas seemed very concerned when I mentioned the possibility of calling the police." William Hollis finds a phone and calls the office to check for messages [Keeper]: Or shooting at his employees [Early Hutz]: ooc - I never shot! [Keeper]: Bernard did [Early Hutz]: I know - just being difficult [Nick Johnson]: ooc - maybe your right. Given all the evidence down there, I fell we should but... [Nick Johnson]: "We could try to sneak down there. I noticed several fellows watching William and I from across the streer, with 4 more inside. From a man power standpoint, we can't force our way in." [Nick Johnson]: "And they will be ready." (Keeper whispered to William Hollis): Jonah Kensington called to inform you that Jackson's funeral will be tomorrow and he wants to turn over Jackson's nots to you. William Hollis writes down the messages, hangs up the phone and finds the others [Early Hutz]: "I get the feeling that even if we don't go back, Silas will eventually 'contact' us." (Keeper whispered to William Hollis): Also, Miriam Atwright called you back to let you know that everywhere else she contacted about Africa's Dark Secrets also mentioned that the book vanished from their collection [Early Hutz]: "He and I didn't get off on the right foot." [Nick Johnson]: "I get that feeling too. I don't want to endanger anyone at the magazine either." [Keeper]: Okay guys, quick layout [Keeper]: The importers is on the waterfront [Keeper]: There is a dock behind it, but it is disused [Keeper]: A door for loading and unloading trucks is on one side of the building [Keeper]: The front door you know is right on the street [Keeper]: There's two doors in the storefront, the left on leading into the office. [Keeper]: That's it for what you know [Nick Johnson]: "William any interesting messages?" [Nick Johnson]: "Besides the obvious?" William Hollis shows the messages to Nick and Early Nick Johnson looks at messages Early Hutz also takes a gander. [Keeper]: Gee, thanks for making me type it over ;) [William Hollis]: welcome :) [Nick Johnson]: heh, I figured he'd just tell us :P [Keeper]: Jonah Kensington called to let you know Jackson's funeral is tomorrow and he wants to turn over his notes [William Hollis]: ooc- less work for me :) [Nick Johnson]: turn over the notes to us I presume? [Keeper]: Miriam Atwright called back because other libraries that had copies of Africa's Dark Secrets had their copies vanish as well [Keeper]: Yes, over to the staff [Nick Johnson]: We can order it on Amazon.com. Wait...doh! [William Hollis]: hey wait...i can use my time machine :D [William Hollis]: oh....never mind.... [Nick Johnson]: "Ok, lets head back and prepare for the funeral." [Early Hutz]: "Good idea. I could use some rest before heading back to the importer's office, anyway." [Nick Johnson]: "I don't think we should go tonight. We should get those notes first." [Early Hutz]: "Agreed." Nick Johnson drives he and William back to the office [William Hollis]: ooc- sorry about making you type that all out again joel...i was cleaning up some wax i spilled :P Early Hutz drives Bernard's car back to office. [Keeper]: It's alright. I just wish I could cut and past from the chat window [William Hollis]: i know...i was going to do that, but found it didn't work....anyway... [William Hollis]: "i could use some rest as well..." [Keeper]: I'm adding Grand Theft Auto to your list of crimes... ;-) [Nick Johnson]: lol! [Early Hutz]: He's not using it. [Keeper]: Well, back at the office... Early Hutz asks the secretary to take a damp cloth and clean out the backseat of Bernard's car. [Keeper]: She's grumbling about being a secretary not a maid, but she's doing it [Early Hutz]: ooc - it's her punishment for her message taking skills William Hollis wonders if Silas will call him back [Early Hutz]: will I regain hit points by sleeping? [William Hollis]: "oh and Nick i think your car could use a bit of cleaning as well...don't you ever clean out that thing?" [Keeper]: No, you got some back by being treated at the hospital, though. Nick Johnson gives William a wry look [Early Hutz]: All of them? I believe I lost 2. [Keeper]: 3, and yes, you got them all back William Hollis coughs Early Hutz looks at his watch. [Keeper]: Well it's 5pm, people are filtering out of the office. What are your plans for the evening guys (William Hollis whispered to Keeper): i'm going to go try calling silas [Nick Johnson]: "Being alone might be a bad idea again." [Early Hutz]: "I think we should group together. Let's get some grub." William Hollis goes off and finds a phone [Nick Johnson]: "Now that we've all visited the shop." [Nick Johnson]: "After William gets done with the phone, a bite to eat would be a good idea." (Keeper whispered to William Hollis): Someone answers the phone at the importers. "Mm... yes? Mm.." [Early Hutz]: "There's probably not much to do, so we can just wait out the night here. We can all head home to change before the funeral tomorrow." (William Hollis whispered to Keeper): yes, i am looking for a book (Keeper whispered to William Hollis): "Mm... we don't carry many books. Mm.." (William Hollis whispered to Keeper): well, i was hoping you might carry this one, or know someone who does (Keeper whispered to William Hollis): "Mm... I don't it." [Nick Johnson]: "ok" (William Hollis whispered to Keeper): "say again?" (Keeper whispered to William Hollis): "I doubt it." (William Hollis whispered to Keeper): well, the book is called Africa's dark secrets, have you heard of it? (Keeper whispered to William Hollis): "Mm... I've never heard of that one. Mm... Try a bookstore." (William Hollis whispered to Keeper): "i have, and they didn't have it" (William Hollis whispered to Keeper): (William Hollis whispered to Keeper): "do you carry any books on african cults? (Keeper whispered to William Hollis): "Mm... Well we do not. Good-bye." *click* (William Hollis whispered to Keeper): nevermind :P [Nick Johnson]: So we're sleeping at the office. (Keeper whispered to William Hollis): And just to point this out for in character knowledge, he never identified himself (William Hollis whispered to Keeper): yep, i know [Keeper]: Alrighty. (William Hollis whispered to Keeper): and i never told him who i was [Early Hutz]: "Is Mr. Paranoid going to booby trap it again?" William Hollis finds the others [William Hollis]: "so what's up guys?" [Nick Johnson]: "Ok Mr. One man is an army, enough of the comments." [Nick Johnson]: "We're sleeping here." [Nick Johnson]: "After grabbing a bite to eat." [William Hollis]: "again?" [Early Hutz]: "If Silas' goons come to visit, I'd rather be with a group than alone." [Nick Johnson]: "You think its wise to spend the night alone?" [Nick Johnson]: uhoh [William Hollis]: "you think he is going to come after us?" [Nick Johnson]: "A possibility. He might not know who we are, yet." [William Hollis]: "maybe it's not a good idea to leave Bernard alone in the hospital then..." [Early Hutz]: "I don't know, but if he does, it won't be for a game of bridge." [Nick Johnson]: "Should we stay at the hospital?" [Early Hutz]: "They won't let us. It's past visiting hours." [Nick Johnson]: "Then we have to hope. We cannot contact the police after all..." [Nick Johnson]: "William, what did you use the phone for?" [William Hollis]: "oh, i just had to call someone about that book, didn't find out anything though" [Nick Johnson]: "Ok, so its settled and we are sleeping here?" [William Hollis]: "i suppose so..." [Early Hutz]: "I think so." Early Hutz eats and sleeps. Nick Johnson eats and sleeps William Hollis eats but doesn't get much sleep [Keeper]: What no booby traps? [Nick Johnson]: No, everyone got mad at me last time :) [Keeper]: No buckets of acid over the door or anything? William Hollis puts a mouse trap by the door [Nick Johnson]: Haha. [Early Hutz]: What day is tomorrow? Nick Johnson is fresh out of acid [Keeper]: Tomorrow is January 17 [Early Hutz]: Saturday, Tuesday? [Keeper]: Hang on [Keeper]: Keeping track of dates is actually important for the campaign... [Keeper]: Tomorrow is a Saturday [Early Hutz]: I'm wondering if people will be in the office tomorrow [Nick Johnson]: Cause the booby traps might be a good idea if they aren't? [Early Hutz]: "Actually, Nick. Since tomorrow is a Saturday, you can probably set an alarm." [Keeper]: You'd think they'd have been nice and told you what date the 15th was in the book [Early Hutz]: "I wouldn't mock you tonight." Nick Johnson deploys the Early Detection System(tm) [Keeper]: Well, if everyone's set to try to get some sleep... [Keeper]: Roll everyone DICE for Nick Johnson: (1d100) : 1d100=2 = [ 2 ] DICE for Early Hutz: (1d100) : 1d100=91 = [ 91 ] William Hollis sits in the front office by the door and reads DICE for William Hollis: (1d100) : 1d100=88 = [ 88 ] [Keeper]: Stupid critical success [Nick Johnson]: ooc heh! [Early Hutz]: ooc - making up for last week, Nick? (Keeper whispered to Nick Johnson): You distinctly hear voices speaking in African outside of the office Nick Johnson gets up, grabs gun. (Keeper whispered to Nick Johnson): And they're coming inside Nick Johnson moves into a low crouch [Nick Johnson]: Am I alone in the office? [Nick Johnson]: Or the office I am in? [Keeper]: Early's asleep nearby William Hollis keeps reading his book [Keeper]: William's in the front area reading by the streetlight Nick Johnson moves quitely over to awake Early. Awakre early by putting hand on mouth and shaking. Nick Johnson whispers "They are here" [Early Hutz]: Assuming Nick successfully awakens me, I go for my gun. Early Hutz whispers, "Where?" [Keeper]: He's pretty forceful. I won't require a roll on that one (To Keeper) DICE for Keeper: (1d100) : 1d100=25 = [ 25 ] Nick Johnson whispers "Outside" [Nick Johnson]: Nick Johnson moves to williams office, motions for him to be silent [Early Hutz]: what floor are we on? [Keeper]: The second Nick Johnson whispers "Outside William. They are here" [William Hollis]: do i notice Nick? [Keeper]: He's trying to get your attention [Keeper]: If he was sneaking I would say no [Keeper]: But he's trying to William Hollis looks up from his book and notices Nick William Hollis glances out the window Nick Johnson moves deliberately over to William and whispers "They are here" [Keeper]: You don't see anyone out there William Nick Johnson looks for a clock William Hollis gets his gun and stays out of the path of any windows [Keeper]: It's nearly midnight [Nick Johnson]: What is the office layout exactly? [Keeper]: You've got the front reception area [Keeper]: Gerald's office is right off that William Hollis whispers to Nick "where did you see them at?" [Nick Johnson]: "whispers back "I heard voices speaking African" [Keeper]: Behind that is a small bullpen [Nick Johnson]: Do the stairs to the second floor open into the reception area, I take it? [Nick Johnson]: bullpen? William Hollis whispers "in what area were they coming from" [Keeper]: There's a handful of offices and store rooms off that including Early's, a photography darkroom, and a meeting room. [Nick Johnson]: so the stairs are the only way in, except for a fire escape? Where did I hear the voices? (To Keeper) DICE for Keeper: (1d100) : 1d100=91 = [ 91 ] [Keeper]: The bottle shatters [Nick Johnson]: where did the sound come from? William Hollis aims his gun at the door and looks to see who it is [Keeper]: They're a fireescape on the building, but not really accessable from the offices [Nick Johnson]: So they have to come via the stairs and the reception. [Keeper]: The door has not openned Nick Johnson also points gun his gun at the door and waits calmly, in a low crouch [Keeper]: Right, the offices face out the front of the building with no access to the ally Early Hutz tries to stay hidden and points gun in direction of bottle noise. (To Keeper) DICE for Keeper: (1d100) : 1d100=24 = [ 24 ] [Keeper]: Everyone roll DICE for Nick Johnson: (1d100) : 1d100=70 = [ 70 ] DICE for William Hollis: (1d100) : 1d100=94 = [ 94 ] DICE for Early Hutz: (1d100) : 1d100=16 = [ 16 ] [Nick Johnson]: ooc heh, all good things must come to an end. (Keeper whispered to Early Hutz): You think you hear them leaving Early Hutz whispers, "I think they're leaving." William Hollis wishes he could have gotten some sleep William Hollis looks out the window Nick Johnson stays focused on the door (Keeper whispered to William Hollis): You see two men dressed in black, one carrying a crowbar dashing across the empty street [William Hollis]: "there they are!" William Hollis points outside Nick Johnson whispers "where?" Nick Johnson looks carefully out a window [William Hollis]: "dashing across the street...two men dressed in black" [Early Hutz]: "I think your alarm might have scared them off, Nick. [Nick Johnson]: "If it weren't for the EDS(tm), we might be dead, or worse!" [Keeper]: You're going to have to keep beer bottles around just for that use from now on :) Nick Johnson sweeps up the broken glass, and replaces the bottle [Early Hutz]: ooc - the sacrifices we have to make. [Nick Johnson]: ooc - Indeed [Keeper]: Well, anyone else going to try to sleep tonight? William Hollis goes back to reading his book [Nick Johnson]: After re-arming the EDS(tm), I grab a book as well [Early Hutz]: "Now what, gentlemen?" [Nick Johnson]: "We can find a hotel to stay in for other nights: William Hollis shrugs [William Hollis]: "not much we can do right now" Early Hutz tries to go back to sleep, hoping the adreneline crash will help." [Nick Johnson]: Can I call the hospital and have them check on Bernard? [Keeper]: You can. Nick Johnson calls hospital, aks them to check on Bernard. (Keeper whispered to Nick Johnson): He's alright, but he hasn't regained conciousness yet [Nick Johnson]: "Bernard is still unconcious" [Keeper]: Well, Early gets a good night's sleep, but William and Nick do not [Nick Johnson]: ooc no rest for the weary :) [Early Hutz]: "Aaah! Refreshed!" Nick Johnson disarms the EDS(tm) [Keeper]: It's now about 7am, the sun's starting to come up. the funeral will be held at 10am so you only have a few hours Nick Johnson goes to shower and get a change of clothes [Nick Johnson]: and a shave :) [Early Hutz]: "I'm going to go home. I'll meet you guys at the funeral." [Keeper]: No rugged film noir look for Nick? [William Hollis]: "okay, i think i'll stop home as well" [Nick Johnson]: Nah :) [Nick Johnson]: "William, I'll give ya a ride if need be" [Keeper]: BTW, as you leave the office you see a rather deep gouge in the door frame next to the handle Nick Johnson examines the gouge [William Hollis]: "nah, it's not too far, i'd rather walk" [Keeper]: The wooden frame has been torn up there [Nick Johnson]: did a knife make it? [Keeper]: It's a broad strip of broken wood [Keeper]: About an inch and a half across [Nick Johnson]: "This is wierd." [William Hollis]: "oh....one of the guys had a crowbar....i think that's what made it" [Nick Johnson]: "Ahhhh" [Keeper]: Roll everyone DICE for Early Hutz: (1d100) : 1d100=97 = [ 97 ] DICE for Nick Johnson: (1d100) : 1d100=24 = [ 24 ] DICE for William Hollis: (1d100) : 1d100=33 = [ 33 ] Early Hutz trips [Nick Johnson]: ooc lol! (Keeper whispered to Early Hutz): You're just happy they didn't break in to beat you to death with it in your sleep (Keeper whispered to Nick Johnson): You realize they didn't exactly choose the quietest method of breaking in (Keeper whispered to William Hollis): You realize they didn't exactly choose the quietest method of breaking in [Nick Johnson]: "This certainly would have made alot of noise breaking in." [William Hollis]: "i think maybe they wanted us to hear them" [Nick Johnson]: "I wonder why they chose a crowbar?" [Nick Johnson]: "I think you might be onto something. But why?" [William Hollis]: "or they didn't expect us to be here" [William Hollis]: "as a warning maybe?" [Nick Johnson]: "A warning perhaps. But you might be onto something about them not expecting us." [Nick Johnson]: "Ok, see everyone at the funeral" William Hollis nods Nick Johnson continues as planned. Checks his home for signs of a breakin when he arrives [Keeper]: It doesn't appear that anyone's broken in William Hollis walks to his apartment [Keeper]: Everyone gets home, get's cleaned up, and makes it to the funeral [Keeper]: It's a small service, Elias was a world traveller and didn't know many people in New York [Early Hutz]: Who's there that we know? [William Hollis]: and is there anyone suspicious there? Nick Johnson eyes the crowd warily [Keeper]: Gerald Mould and a few other staff members. Jonah Kensington from Prospero House and one of his writers. There's three other people that you don't know Nick Johnson examines the 3 strangers [Keeper]: No one who stands out to you as a possible cult member [Keeper]: Two of them bear a striking resemblance to Jackson Elias, the other one is a young woman [Keeper]: After the ceremony is over, Kensington pulls Early aside (Keeper whispered to Early Hutz): He pushes a paper wrapped bundle into your hands (Keeper whispered to Early Hutz): "He was already concerned for his life. I want no part of this business now..." (Keeper whispered to Early Hutz): "I knew one of those cults would catch up with him some day." (Early Hutz whispered to Keeper): I'll keep you out of it. But did he tell you anything?" (Keeper whispered to Early Hutz): "Everything he told me is there. Now I'm leaving directly on holiday. Don't ask me where, I want to be certain no one can find me." (Early Hutz whispered to Keeper): Goodbye. (Keeper whispered to Early Hutz): He turns away and leaves... Nick Johnson goes to offer condolences to what looks like Elias' family. (Keeper whispered to Nick Johnson): They're cousins who didn't know him particularly well William Hollis does the same (Keeper whispered to Nick Johnson): The woman is Phillip Elias's wife... Early Hutz follows Nick and William. [Keeper]: The family members a cousins who didn't know Jackson very well [Keeper]: He was always off world travelling and didn't have much time for them [Keeper]: The woman with them is the wife of one of the cousins Early Hutz whispers to William and Nick, "Let's get back to the office." Nick Johnson nods William Hollis nods to Early Nick Johnson drives back to the office Early Hutz returns to office. [Keeper]: Guys, I need a short break here [Removed break chatter] [Keeper]: If everyone's set you're back at the offices [William Hollis]: i'm back [Early Hutz]: "Kensington gave me this package." Early Hutz opens package. Nick Johnson looks at the contents [Keeper]: Inside the package are several bundled reams of notes [Early Hutz]: "Hmmm. Everyone take a ream and start reading, I guess." [Keeper]: Close to five hundred page's worth [Nick Johnson]: "Good lord" [Keeper]: At the top is one letter that's apparently the beginning [Keeper]: (Yes, and I had to type it all in. ;) [Early Hutz]: "But first, I'll read this letter!" Nick Johnson reads the letter [William Hollis]: "man, he sure did take a lot of notes" [Nick Johnson]: [Keeper]: That's the cover letter [Nick Johnson]: "Wow, that is big news." [Keeper]: Beneith that are seven sets of bundled notes all labeled Nairobi [Early Hutz]: "Shall we start reading?" [William Hollis]: "i guess maybe we should skim the notes for anything interesting" [Nick Johnson]: "I guess we need to start going through bundles." [Keeper]: Below that is a bundle labelled "Cairo" and below that one labelled "Shanghai" [Keeper]: The bottom and most recent are labelled "London" [Nick Johnson]: "I'll start at the beginning." [Early Hutz]: "The Nairobi notes are probably key, but the London notes are the most recent, so they may be important, too." [Nick Johnson]: Right. [Nick Johnson]: "Right" (Keeper whispered to Nick Johnson): The top Nairobi notes is Elias's investigation into the official story (Keeper whispered to Nick Johnson): Several interviews with government and police officials feeding the standard line that everyone knows already (Keeper whispered to Nick Johnson): Elias obviously discounts it. [Nick Johnson]: "My guess is that Cairo and Shanghi might be interesting because they come after Narobi" [Keeper]: FWIW, those who want to know, all but the London and the cover letter are summerized only [Nick Johnson]: Ok [Early Hutz]: ok [Early Hutz]: Are the notes dated? [Keeper]: You can ask specific questions and I'll tell you if they're covered in the notes from the summery [Keeper]: No dates except for the cover letter [Nick Johnson]: Do Cairo and Shanghi come after Narobi? [Keeper]: They're lowing in the stack in that order [Keeper]: lower [Nick Johnson]: From the writing does it look like he followed a trail from Nairobi to there? [Early Hutz]: Is Silas mentioned anywhere? [Nick Johnson]: "Maybe we should look at the London and then scan the rest" [Keeper]: That's going to take an extensive look if you want to find out Nick Johnson begins looking at the london notes [William Hollis]: anything about the africa's dark secrets book? [Early Hutz]: How long to read all of the notes? [Keeper]: It's going to take the rest of the day [Keeper]: The London notes are now on the side bar for those who want to try to decypher them [Early Hutz]: "I say we read everything. It may take all day, but it's the best info we have." [Nick Johnson]: "This is. . . bizzare to say the least." [Nick Johnson]: "We'll need to contact Gavigan and Mahoney" [Nick Johnson]: "And pay a visit to Carlyle's estate, possibly" [Early Hutz]: "Dr. Huston is probably the psychoanalyst referred to. We'll need to look for his files." [Nick Johnson]: "Huston, he was on the expidition?" [Early Hutz]: "Yes" [Nick Johnson]: "Clearly, our cult has chased Elias here" [Nick Johnson]: "But why? To what end?" [Nick Johnson]: "We really need to get into that safe." [William Hollis]: "what did he find out?" [Early Hutz]: "If I had to guess, the end was Elias' end." [Nick Johnson]: "I don't know, but from the looks of it, it left him half-mad" [Early Hutz]: "We need to try to read all of these notes." [William Hollis]: "yeah, i think that is a good idea" [Nick Johnson]: From the summary, can we tell where the Carlyle expidition went? [Keeper]: The known info is in the news clipping I sent around last week. [Nick Johnson]: I mean, after it dissappeared? [Nick Johnson]: Since is seems that Elias tracked them down, somehow. [Early Hutz]: They went to the Great Rift Valley, Northwest of Nairobi. [Nick Johnson]: Does the summary reveal what Elias thinks happened to them? Are some or all of them still alive (allegedly)? [Keeper]: Well, there are no mention of anyone save Jack Brody by name [Early Hutz]: Do we recognize the name? [Nick Johnson]: Do we know what the Penhew foundation is? [Keeper]: The Penhew foundation is a society of egyptologists in London [Keeper]: Jack Brody was Roger Carlyle's bodyguard and travelling companion [Nick Johnson]: What does it say about Brody? [Early Hutz]: I just saw "Jack Brady" in the notes. I'm guessing that's Jack Brody. [Keeper]: Brady, excuse me [Keeper]: My slip [Early Hutz]: np - I just couldn't find it when I did a search, so I had to ask. [Nick Johnson]: Will it be possible to call Gavigan? [Keeper]: No transatlantic phone lines [Nick Johnson]: Didn't think so. [Keeper]: You can send a wire, though [Nick Johnson]: Can we arrange for a wire to be sent, informing him of Elias' death and asking if Elias has contacted? [Nick Johnson]: Or I should say had tried to contact him? [Keeper]: So you guys can have it perminantly, I entered the summeries in a note [Nick Johnson]: How to we get it permanently? [Keeper]: You should be able to right click on any notes and choose save. You won't be able to modify them, but you can save them as text on your PC [Nick Johnson]: And we'd like to arrange for a wire snet to Gavigan, to get the Cairo Itinerary [Keeper]: Okay, compose the telegram for me. [Nick Johnson]: To: Edward Gavigan [Keeper]: It's $1.25 a word so you'll want to keep it short [Nick Johnson]: Hold a second...would they have the "Itinerary" at the Penhew foundation? [Keeper]: They could, they were involved with the expedition [Nick Johnson]: Sir we are requesting a copy of the Cairo Itinerary for the Carlyle Expidition STOP [Nick Johnson]: Hold, I am going to pare that down. [Keeper]: William, I turned off access to the "Save" button on the form so that no one could accidently change it. If you want to keep it right click on the item on the bench and choose save there. [William Hollis]: "do we really have to keep it short...we do have resources and won't the mag spring for some of the cost? [William Hollis]: ah....okay [Keeper]: Some, but $1.25 is a good deal of money in the 20's. [Keeper]: Think of it as $5 a word. :) [Nick Johnson]: Request copy Cairo Intinerary of Carlyle Expdition STOP [Nick Johnson]: heh, not too bad :) [Nick Johnson]: does our return address automatically go on the wire? [Early Hutz]: "It'll take forever for them to get us a copy." [Keeper]: Yes, but they'll have to mail it back [Nick Johnson]: "Yeah, but I am wondering if we want them to mail it here or not" [Early Hutz]: "Just ask for a brief summary in a reply wire." [Nick Johnson]: "Good idea" [Nick Johnson]: Is it possible to have them wire enough useful information? [Keeper]: No [Nick Johnson]: We'll hold off on the telegraph, for now. [Keeper]: Transatlantic communications at the time are extremely slow and expensive [William Hollis]: it probably costs the same for them Early Hutz waits for FedEx to start business. [Keeper]: Remember there's only one wire that everyone has to share running across the ocean [Nick Johnson]: nod [Keeper]: There are no speedy transpacific or even transcontinental communications in Asia or Africa, BTW [Keeper]: If you wanted to send a wire to Africa you'd have to send it to London first and then get it passed along the chain [Nick Johnson]: That might be something to consider for the future :) [Nick Johnson]: I suppose that he was calling Mahoney to break the story about the Carlyle expidtion? Nick Johnson goes to a phone and calls mike Mahoney [Keeper]: Well guys, you've been through the notes and there's other threads to follow already [Keeper]: Mahony is in London as well [ shipwreck left the game ] [Nick Johnson]: Oh, drat :) [Keeper]: We lost him [Nick Johnson]: yah [Early Hutz]: His connection was spiking bad. [Nick Johnson]: Realy bad [Keeper]: Something funky happened [Keeper]: Just to talk with you two then, you've got enough threads to follow for months [Keeper]: Any ideas where you want to start [Nick Johnson]: I am no longer sure we need to visit the shop. [Nick Johnson]: Though it might not be a bad idea. [Early Hutz]: It might also get us killed. [Nick Johnson]: Right. [Nick Johnson]: Though what I am considering might as well. [Nick Johnson]: Simon would flip for this, though. [Early Hutz]: One advantage of waiting and doing research is that it allows Bernard time to heal. [Nick Johnson]: right. [Nick Johnson]: But I sense an ocean cruise in our future. [Keeper]: You've got a half dozen things to dig into in the New York area anyways [Nick Johnson]: True. [Nick Johnson]: Like visiting Carlyle's estate. [Nick Johnson]: And, we have to find a way to get those notes of Dr Huston [Nick Johnson]: We won't investigate the Estate until we have everyone together. [Early Hutz]: Carlyle has the "books" in his safe, so we could try there. [Keeper]: I'm trying to see what happens in 1925 that I can throw into the story as well. [Nick Johnson]: Its definately stop #1 [Nick Johnson]: I am not sure how we are going to track down Huston's notes, though. [Early Hutz]: Is Huston US based or London based? [Early Hutz]: Regardless, the notes referred to may be ones he made during the expedition. [Nick Johnson]: Right, thus making the point moot, at least for now. [Keeper]: Huston left from New York with the Carlyle Expedition [Nick Johnson]: Might he have been arranging for notes to be mailed back to the US? [Nick Johnson]: It appears that he might not have died when people thought he did, after all. [ shipwreck joined the game ] [Nick Johnson]: Ouch William, welcome back. [Keeper]: Welcome back [William Hollis]: ooc--sorry, my computer decided to hate me [Keeper]: It's okay, we figured something bad happened at your end... [William Hollis]: okay....well, what did i miss? [Early Hutz]: I thought you just hated us and left ;-) [Nick Johnson]: We are plotting the future course of events. [Keeper]: Just some chatting about possible directions to take [Nick Johnson]: Like visiting Carlyle's to check the safe out. [William Hollis]: i don't hate you yet, maybe when you get me killed i will :) [Nick Johnson]: That could be tricky, though. [Keeper]: It's after 5pm now and the winter sun is starting to set [Early Hutz]: Then it's too late to matter! :P [William Hollis]: i was going to ask where carlyle's estate was [Keeper]: It's on Long Island [Nick Johnson]: "Well, what does everyone think?" [William Hollis]: how long would it take to get there? [Keeper]: Close enough to the city that Roger Carlyle was part of the social scene in Manhattan, but far enough out that they have an estate. :) [William Hollis]: "i say we head on over there..." [Early Hutz]: "Let's take to Roger's sister, Erica. She may be willing to help us if we tell her that Roger may be alive." [Early Hutz]: replace "take" with "talk" [Nick Johnson]: "Ok" [Keeper]: Well, the estate is about half an hour's drive out of the city [Nick Johnson]: "We should call 1st, yes?" [Keeper]: That's a good idea [Nick Johnson]: Just showing up would be a little wierd. [William Hollis]: "let's call then..." [Keeper]: Who's calling? [Nick Johnson]: brb [Early Hutz]: I guess I'll call. (Keeper whispered to Early Hutz): A man answers the phone when you call. "Carlyle residence. How may I help you?" [Nick Johnson]: sorry Nick Johnson waits patiently for Early to call (Early Hutz whispered to Keeper): May I speak with Erica? [Nick Johnson]: "William, we might want to store all of this stuff in a safe place. After all, our 'friends' in the cult might return." (Keeper whispered to Early Hutz): "Miss Carlyle is unavailable at the moment. May I inquire as to the purpose your call?" [William Hollis]: "yes, but maybe not here....somewhere they wouldn't expect" [Nick Johnson]: "Exaclty! The question, however, is where?" [Nick Johnson]: (Early Hutz whispered to Keeper): "Yes. This is regarding her brother's expedition." [William Hollis]: "does the police station have lockers?" [Nick Johnson]: Good question, does it? :) [William Hollis]: public lockers that is (Keeper whispered to Early Hutz): "Inquiries into that should be handled through her press office." [Keeper]: No public ones there [Nick Johnson]: "If not we might try the lockers at a train station. I bet we could rent one." [Nick Johnson]: "don't know how safe it is, though." [Nick Johnson]: "And what about Simon?" (Early Hutz whispered to Keeper): "Sir. We have some important information that Roger may still be alive. It's urgent that I speak with Ms. Carlyle." [Nick Johnson]: "He might have a good place we could stash this stuff." [William Hollis]: "hmm....maybe we could have them sent somewhere" (Keeper whispered to Early Hutz): "Who is calling?" (Early Hutz whispered to Keeper): "My name is Earl Hutz. I'm a friend of Jackson Elias." [William Hollis]: "yeah, i think simon might know of a place" (Keeper whispered to Early Hutz): Give a roll, Early... DICE for Early Hutz: (1d100) : 1d100=14 = [ 14 ] [Nick Johnson]: "Why don't you call him and ask him, then?" William Hollis heads for a phone to call simon (Keeper whispered to Early Hutz): "Miss Carlyle will be attending a function this evening. An interview can perhaps be granted tomorrow afternoon."] (Early Hutz whispered to Keeper): "I would appreciate that. Should I meet her at the estate?" (Keeper whispered to Early Hutz): Yes. Please wait a moment while arrangements are made. (Keeper whispered to Early Hutz): There's a delay of several minutes. Then the man comes back. "She'll meet with you at 2pm tomorrow." (Early Hutz whispered to Keeper): "Thank you. Have a good night." (Keeper whispered to Early Hutz): "Good evening, sir." *click* Early Hutz hangs up phone. William Hollis calls simon [Nick Johnson]: "Early, how did it go?" (Keeper whispered to William Hollis): Simon's out for the night [Early Hutz]: "Guys, we've gota an appointment with Erica Carlyle at 2:00 tomorrow afternoone at the estate." William Hollis hangs up [Nick Johnson]: "Excellent work." [William Hollis]: "Nick, Simon is out for the night" Nick Johnson nods [Keeper]: It is Saturday evening, after all. :) [Nick Johnson]: "We'll call him in the morning. As for the stuff, we'll just take it with us." [Nick Johnson]: heh, good point. I don't see Simon missing out on anything that sounds entertaining. [William Hollis]: "i'm thinking we really shouldn't waste time, if they are still alive every minute could count" [Keeper]: Just to point something out here, they've hung on for six years [Nick Johnson]: "As for tonight, maybe we should go stay at a hotel" [Nick Johnson]: "William, consider that Simon's London notes are from quite a while ago. He had to cross the sea by boat just to get here." [William Hollis]: yeah, but still [Nick Johnson]: "A few days are not going to matter. There really isn't anything we can do, anyway." [William Hollis]: i suppose.... [Early Hutz]: "Hotel party!" [William Hollis]: "okay, lets go find a hotel then" [Nick Johnson]: "I understand your discomfort, but we don't have many options until we talk to Erica." Nick Johnson begins to pack up the notes and such. [Early Hutz]: "Actually, let's get the number to Dr. Huston's office. We won't be able to call until Monday, but at least we'll be prepared." [Nick Johnson]: "Good call Early" [Early Hutz]: "Come to think of it, his office probably closed in the last six years without him." William Hollis nods [Nick Johnson]: "What if he wasn't a solo practicioner?" [Nick Johnson]: "We need to investigate what happened to his practice, 1st. Then move from there." [William Hollis]: "lets find out" [Keeper]: That kind of files you won't have handy here. [Nick Johnson]: That will require phone calls, I presume. [Early Hutz]: We'll have to start digging on Monday, probably." [William Hollis]: "let's hold off on that until monday as well then" [Keeper]: You either need a set of newspaper files (so you can locate background info on Dr. Huston) or examine the medical board's records about him [Nick Johnson]: Or both :) [Nick Johnson]: "Agreed, Monday we will begin looking into Dr Huston." Nick Johnson moves all of Elias' notes to the backseat of his car [Early Hutz]: "Let's hit the hotel. And bring some beer bottles we can empty for an alarm!" [Keeper]: Roll Nick DICE for Nick Johnson: (1d100) : 1d100=96 = [ 96 ] William Hollis gets in the car and falls asleep [Nick Johnson]: ooc great, did I just run myself over? (Keeper whispered to Nick Johnson): You think you spot some potential cultists up the street from you [Nick Johnson]: are we all outside at this point, or just me? [Keeper]: I guess everyone is [Keeper]: Since William headed out to your car [Nick Johnson]: "Lets all ride together" [Early Hutz]: Everyone would be if we were going together, which I think we were. [Nick Johnson]: right [Nick Johnson]: "Everyone get in" [Early Hutz]: "Shotgun!" William Hollis is already inside sleeping [Keeper]: That's what you get for staying up all night [Keeper]: :) Nick Johnson begins to drive to a hotel [Nick Johnson]: I want to make sure we aren't being followed Early Hutz watches for cars following. [Nick Johnson]: Using my detective veteran savy [Keeper]: Early roll DICE for Early Hutz: (1d100) : 1d100=53 = [ 53 ] [Keeper]: And nick DICE for Nick Johnson: (1d100) : 1d100=32 = [ 32 ] William Hollis drools all over the seat :) [Nick Johnson]: and he says my car is messy :) [Keeper]: There's no one following you [Early Hutz]: "I don't see anyone following us." [Nick Johnson]: Still, I apply the diagonal rule and take a zig zag route to a hotel far from the office. [William Hollis]: am i having any dreams or anything? [Nick Johnson]: ooc - can't be too careful :) (To Keeper) DICE for Keeper: (1d100) : 1d100=43 = [ 43 ] [Keeper]: Nothing memorable. Just the same one about walking into a room full of cultists naked [Nick Johnson]: lol! [William Hollis]: and killing them all with a railgun [Nick Johnson]: What about a flamethrower? [Early Hutz]: ooc - how much longer are we going to go? [William Hollis]: and a flamethrower [Nick Johnson]: When we get to the hotel, we check in. [Keeper]: Okay. You've got a room on the third floor [Nick Johnson]: "bed!" [William Hollis]: this wouldn't happen to be the same hotel elias was killed in would it... [Nick Johnson]: We get a room with 2 queens, fyi [Keeper]: No [William Hollis]: good [Early Hutz]: "Bed!" [Nick Johnson]: Jeez, do I look like that bad of a driver :) [Nick Johnson]: Oh, and we move the notes to the room William Hollis isn't going to get any sleep, so he picks up a stack of the notes to read [Nick Johnson]: "William, having trouble sleeping?" [Keeper]: Are you kidding? [William Hollis]: "just a bit" [Keeper]: Roll William [William Hollis]: nope DICE for William Hollis: (1d100) : 1d100=11 = [ 11 ] [Nick Johnson]: "Maybe you should have a drink or 5" [Keeper]: Okay, you can stay up, but you're exhausted William Hollis makes sure he has a lot of caffein near by [Keeper]: You haven't been sleeping and any roll you make tomorrow is at -25% [William Hollis]: yep, i know [Keeper]: Okay [William Hollis]: "i can only sleep at my apartment" [Nick Johnson]: good lord man :) [Nick Johnson]: "Ok" [Keeper]: He's going to literally pass out eventually... Nick Johnson prepares the EDS for the hotel room, and goes to sleep [Nick Johnson]: oops, that's EDS(tm) [William Hollis]: well....i kinda passed out in the car already :) [Early Hutz]: ooc - is this good breaking point? I've got some RL errands to run this afternoon. [Keeper]: Sure [Nick Johnson]: Ok, sounds like a good one. [Keeper]: We've got the Carlyle estate to hit [William Hollis]: okay [Keeper]: More city wide investigations [Nick Johnson]: I think the visit with Mrs Carlyle will be a big event. [Early Hutz]: Joel, was that a persuasion roll you had me do on the phone call? [Keeper]: I've got a couple of balls moving in the background you haven't noticed yet (assuming you don't throw a monkey wrench) [Keeper]: Credit Rating [Early Hutz]: Interesting. Can you tell me why, or does it ruin something? [Nick Johnson]: :*hates* balls moving in the background [Keeper]: Because it's exclusive [William Hollis]: i hope you guys will let william sleep in his apartment soon :) [Keeper]: Nobody but the uppercrust is allowed near Miss Carlyle [Early Hutz]: I'm uppercrust! [Nick Johnson]: Jeez, its not our fault you have a wierd sleeping thing :) [Nick Johnson]: Am I uppercrust? [Keeper]: Get used to it. I doubt that you'll be returning there anytime soon [William Hollis]: well, i'll have to see what happens next time... [Nick Johnson]: Yeah, I bet there are cultists waiting in every closet :) [Keeper]: He had a -50% modifier on the roll and he still made it. :) Nick Johnson years to be uppercrust [Nick Johnson]: I think its impossible for detectives, though [Nick Johnson]: Its in the constitution or something Nick Johnson shrugs [William Hollis]: i think it's a conspiracy Nick Johnson nods in agreement [William Hollis]: oh, sorry....wrong game... [Nick Johnson]: I am not a communist? [Computer]: Are you happy citizen? [Nick Johnson]: absolutely [William Hollis]: uh oh....i feel paranoid [Nick Johnson]: heh [Early Hutz]: Paranoia is Nick's game. [William Hollis]: i can't find those books anywhere [Nick Johnson]: Hey, the EDS(tm) saved our lives! [Keeper]: I've got almost all of them [Early Hutz]: It doesn't change the fact that you're a nut-job! [William Hollis]: they are what, like 20 uears old [William Hollis]: years [Nick Johnson]: Hah, you started a friggin war! [Keeper]: Well, the first edition is 1983, IIRC [Early Hutz]: And emerged (relatively) unscathed! [Nick Johnson]: Jeez, I figured you would go down to the shop and just see what it was like. [William Hollis]: yep [William Hollis]: [Nick Johnson]: :P [Keeper]: Oh my god I've been gaming THAT long! [Nick Johnson]: Damn, you are pretty old :) [William Hollis]: i found a few sourcebooks, but not anything really good [William Hollis]: i have a few leads online though [Keeper]: I've got a gaming store nearby that has an excellent backstock for most things [Early Hutz]: I've gotta run. Are we playing next week? [Keeper]: Definitely for me [Nick Johnson]: I can [Nick Johnson]: See ya Early [William Hollis]: it's kind of surprizing we don't have any good game stores here, with gencon and all [William Hollis]: i'll be here [Early Hutz]: Later [William Hollis]: bye [ ImLawBoy left the game ] [Keeper]: So, looking ahead, what other games would you guys want to play? [Nick Johnson]: Ok, I have a few errands to run myself. [Keeper]: Oh, alright then [Nick Johnson]: Me, I'd be up for most anything. [William Hollis]: earthdawn, shadowrun, any white wolf, or paranoia [Nick Johnson]: This has been fun, and open to anything new [William Hollis]: hmm....or even aliens [Nick Johnson]: Err, I am open to anything new :) [Keeper]: I've been thinking GURPS crossed with George R. R. Martin's A Game of Thrones series [Nick Johnson]: Aliens as in the movies? [William Hollis]: yep [Keeper]: No, silly, Teenagers From Outer Space [Nick Johnson]: A game of thrones? Should I read the books? Nick Johnson cackles [Keeper]: Really excellent fantasy novels [William Hollis]: i'll have to check those out [Keeper]: Kind of a retelling of the War of the Roses Nick Johnson jots down George RR Martin's name [Keeper]: I think everyone knows my high demands on writing and I think it's pretty good [Keeper]: So that's really saying something [Nick Johnson]: Yeah, it does. [Nick Johnson]: Anyway, I would be open to that. [Nick Johnson]: Would it be a good idea to buy some sort of Gurps book if we did do it? [Keeper]: Every player would be a noble caught up in the war [William Hollis]: i'm going to head on out....it's been fun! [Keeper]: So long [William Hollis]: bye... [Nick Johnson]: Bye, Shipwreck, next week! [ shipwreck left the game ] [Keeper]: The basic rule book would help, but just like with Cthulhu I'd make sure you didn't need it [Nick Johnson]: Ok, I might look into it anyway. [Keeper]: Anyways, I'm outa here myself then. At least I got the log this time. :) [Nick Johnson]: ok, next week!
