(Keeper whispered to Early Hutz): Inside the crate is a statue of a grotesquely fat woman holding a chinese style fan over her face. It's made of some kind of metal, but it's scarred and pitted so it appears very old (Early Hutz whispered to Keeper): D'oh! Now I see it! (Alexander St. James whispered to Keeper): Does the mouse seem similar to any rituals I might know of? (Early Hutz whispered to Keeper): "It's a statue of an old, fat woman. Wanna see?" [Allen Speight]: "A sacrifice sounds about right . . . barbaric brutes. I fear for your friend if this is the sort of men which have him." (William Hollis whispered to Keeper): "Um....no thanks...you can show it to Eric though" (Keeper whispered to Alexander St. James): You know of several occult rituals that involve rmoving the heart. You've never heard of it being practiced on mice, though (Early Hutz whispered to Keeper): Early closely examines the metal to try figure out what it is. [Allen Speight]: "We must try to find him immediately." [Sebastian Dark]: "Now the only question is was this left on purpose or did the man drop it by accident?" [Alexander St. James]: "Most likely on accident. He seemed surprised to be chased." (Keeper whispered to Early Hutz): Well, she's ugly. Really ugly. And naked. It's not a pretty statue. [Allen Speight]: "We have no way of answering that. Let's continue down this alley and see if we can discover where this man was running to." Sebastian Dark moves on down the alleyway cautiously (Early Hutz whispered to Keeper): How big is the statue? Alexander St. James heads down the alley [Allen Speight]: "Look to see if he dropped anything else." (Keeper whispered to Early Hutz): About three feet wide, just as tall (Early Hutz whispered to Keeper): "Nick would have loved this thing." *sniff* Allen Speight wraps up the mouse in some gauze and puts it in his medical bag (Early Hutz whispered to Keeper): "All right. (Early Hutz whispered to Keeper): "I opened the last crate. Your turn." [Alexander St. James]: "It's on fire" [Allen Speight]: Yes, I'm not suggesting we go there for dinner [Sebastian Dark]: "There's nothing left at the hotel." [Allen Speight]: I'm saying let's go back and look for your friend (William Hollis whispered to Keeper): William closes his eyes holds the box away from him and opens the box pointed toward Early [Sebastian Dark]: "Where are your other compatriots? (William Hollis whispered to Keeper): "neat, you can keep them Early...i'll just take a chunk of this altar as my souveneir" [Alexander St. James]: "Yes. The other hotel, at first." (Early Hutz whispered to Keeper): "You know, William, you owe me a dagger" [Sebastian Dark]: "You stayed at Grays Inn as well?" [Allen Speight]: "The *other* hotel?" You mean the other one that was burned? [Alexander St. James]: "Frankly, when I stay in two hotels in one night, and they both burn down, I get suspicious." [Allen Speight]: Dear God (Early Hutz whispered to Keeper): "I'll take it for myself, and we'll keep the robe and the vial." (William Hollis whispered to Keeper): "Early, be careful what you say, you just might get it" [Sebastian Dark]: "What are you, a walking target for arsonists?" (Early Hutz whispered to Keeper): "Let's get out of here, we've been here a while." [Alexander St. James]: "Which is why I think I'll try to track down the others and warn them. You're welcome to join me, if you like." (William Hollis whispered to Keeper): "i say we leave now before someone finds out we broke the alter" [Allen Speight]: I suppose someone needs to keep you out of trouble (Early Hutz whispered to Keeper): Early goes back up the stairs. [Sebastian Dark]: " I will. At least that way I'll know which hotels not to stay at." (William Hollis whispered to Keeper): William collects the books he chose and head up the steps [Allen Speight]: Which way then? [Alexander St. James]: "Okay then. According to plan, they were investigating the Penhew Foundation. We'll have to catch a taxi." (Keeper whispered to Early Hutz): Erics waiting at the top of the steps (Keeper whispered to William Hollis): Erics waiting at the top of the steps (Early Hutz whispered to Keeper): "Are we going to keep looking, or do we need to get out of here." [Sebastian Dark]: "We'll have to foot it over to a more main street." [Alexander St. James]: "It's a good think I had my wallet in my pocket while I slept." Alexander St. James heads back down the alley to the main street. (Keeper whispered to Early Hutz): Well, you were looking for anything suspicious (Keeper whispered to William Hollis): Well, you were looking for anything suspicious (Early Hutz whispered to Keeper): "Just some info on Gallagher" (or whatever his name is) (Keeper whispered to Early Hutz): You might have found it (Keeper whispered to William Hollis): You might have found it Sebastian Dark follows Alexander (William Hollis whispered to Keeper): yes, i would say that was quite suspicious Allen Speight follows along, asking for more information about the cult and the murders (Early Hutz whispered to Keeper): "I say we quit while we're ahead - or at least not too far behind." (William Hollis whispered to Keeper): "i agree, lets get out of here..." (Early Hutz whispered to Keeper): "We can just leave the maid. They're going to know we were here anyway." [Keeper]: You can see the emergency workers down the street working on your former hotel [Keeper]: The blaze is out but there's still a crowd [Allen Speight]: ooc afk for quick pee break, Allen will just follow along until I get back . . . Alexander St. James asks a bystander, "Have they figured out what happened?" [Keeper]: "I 'ear they figure it was burned down because they wouldn't pay off the right people." [Allen Speight]: ooc ok, back [Alexander St. James]: "Good heavens! This sort of thing just shouldn't happen here in London." (Keeper whispered to Early Hutz): So, are you guys offing her or what? (Keeper whispered to William Hollis): So, are you guys offing her or what? Sebastian Dark attempts to hail a taxi (Early Hutz whispered to Keeper): "Are we going to just leave her?" [Keeper]: That's easy enough. Every cabby in London seems eager to help these unfortunate souls get to new lodgings (for a nominal fee). (William Hollis whispered to Keeper): "what else can we do?" Alexander St. James gives him directions to the Penhew Foundation, having him actually stop in front of whatever hotel is nearest to it. (Early Hutz whispered to Keeper): "Let's put her in with the altar. Maybe when she wakes up she'll be so freaked out that she won't ever come back." [Allen Speight]: "Where to, St. James?" (William Hollis whispered to Keeper): "good idea" [Keeper]: You're half a block up the street from the foundation (William Hollis whispered to Keeper): William helps Early take the woman down the steps Alexander St. James pays the cabbie and gets out (Early Hutz whispered to Keeper): "Now let's get out of here." Sebastian Dark gets out [Keeper]: It's a very expensive hotel looking hotel here Allen Speight follows, looking around suspiciously (William Hollis whispered to Keeper): Willam nods and follows Early's lead Alexander St. James waits for the cabbie to drive off, then heads towards the foundation building. [Allen Speight]: "Can't say I'm much in the mood for another hotel right now . . . which one would you like to see destroyed?" (Early Hutz whispered to Keeper): Early goes out the way they came in. (Keeper whispered to Early Hutz): The gate in the yard is still open and you get back into the alley (Keeper whispered to William Hollis): The gate in the yard is still open and you get back into the alley Sebastian Dark follows Alexander [Keeper]: The building is dark and you don't see anything (Early Hutz whispered to Keeper): "Let's get back to the hotel." [Sebastian Dark]: "So, what is the Penhew Foundation for?" [Allen Speight]: "Why were your friends investigating this place?" (Early Hutz whispered to Keeper): Early looks around for anything suspicious. (William Hollis whispered to Keeper): "okay, let's find the others..." We think the director of the foundation may be involved." [Keeper]: The front of the building is blocked off by a high iron fence with spikes on top (Early Hutz whispered to Keeper): Early heads out to the street the way we came in. [Allen Speight]: "Well, unless you're a cat-burglar, how do you propose we get in?" [Keeper]: There's a narrow area to both sides of the building that is blocked off from there Alexander St. James circles the building, looking to see if he can spot how the others got in. (Keeper whispered to Early Hutz): You're on a side street now that's a short distance from the foundation (Keeper whispered to William Hollis): You're on a side street now that's a short distance from the foundation (Early Hutz whispered to Keeper): Early looks around. [Keeper]: You'd have to circle around for some distance to get behind it Sebastian Dark tries to climb the fence [Keeper]: At least up to the next street and down again [Allen Speight]: "I wouldn't if I were you" Alexander St. James checks to see if the front gate is locked [Allen Speight]: Those spikes look rather unfriendly [Keeper]: Sebastian can roll if he wants to climb it [Keeper]: The front door, which the fence leaves accessable, is locked Sebastian Dark stops, reconsiders the spikes, and decides not to. (Keeper whispered to Early Hutz): The street there is empty (Keeper whispered to William Hollis): The street there is empty [Sebastian Dark]: "if we can cover the spikes someone can possibly climb over." (Early Hutz whispered to Keeper): Can I see these guys attempting to get in, or were we on a different street? [Allen Speight]: Cover the spikes? (Keeper whispered to Early Hutz): Different. They're doing this in front of the foundation (Keeper whispered to William Hollis): Different. They're doing this in front of the foundation (Early Hutz whispered to Keeper): How wise. ;-) [Sebastian Dark]: "With some heavy cloth maybe." [Alexander St. James]: "We may have to circle the block to get behind the building." (Keeper whispered to Early Hutz): I'm giving them a few more minutes and then having the police show up (Keeper whispered to William Hollis): I'm giving them a few more minutes and then having the police show up [Allen Speight]: I say we try the rear, yes (Keeper whispered to Early Hutz): Darn (Keeper whispered to William Hollis): Darn [Sebastian Dark]: "Yes, let's check out the back." (Early Hutz whispered to Keeper): "Let's try to catch a cab back to our hotel, to which I'm sure nothing odd has happened." Sebastian Dark follows [Keeper]: You head down to a side street and as you turn the corner you almost walk right into Early, William, and Eric (William Hollis whispered to Keeper): "yes, i'm sure it hasn't burned down or anything like that" [Early Hutz]: "What the . . . Alexander?" [Alexander St. James]: "Damn, you gave me quite a start there." [Sebastian Dark]: (reaching into his coat) "Friends of yours?" [Keeper]: William is carrying a large stack of books and Early appears to be holding a bundle as well [Allen Speight]: "So which of you is being held for ransom?" (William Hollis whispered to Keeper): "hey, imagine meeting you guys here...." [Alexander St. James]: "Yes, these are the others I was telling you about." [Alexander St. James]: "Gentleman, I'm afraid I've got some very bad news." [Early Hutz]: "What's going on here? Take your hand out of your coat, you." [Alexander St. James]: "Our hotel burned down, and I think Roland has been kidnapped." Sebastian Dark removes his hand from his coat and smiles [Early Hutz]: "Who are these guys?" [William Hollis]: "yes, please introduce us...." [Sebastian Dark]: " Sebastian Dark at your service." (with a bow and flourish) [William Hollis]: "Early, how about that....the hotel burned down and you weren't even there...." [Alexander St. James]: "They were staying at the hotel as well, and they've been assisting me in trying to find Roland." [Allen Speight]: "I am Dr. Speight, if you must know -- and who are you to be coming out of buildings loaded down like common thieves?" [Early Hutz]: "We're common thieves." [Early Hutz]: "I want to get out of here." [William Hollis]: "oh, Alexander, we got a present for you" [Early Hutz]: "Can we find some place to lay low, because a lot of shit is going to hit the fan real soon." William Hollis tosses the chunk of the alter to Alex [Sebastian Dark]: "You didn't happen to run into any gentlemen of the Arabic persuasion, did you?" [William Hollis]: "I say we leave now, nice meeting you all...." [Allen Speight]: : harumphs [Alexander St. James]: "Well, why don't we try to find another hotel. [Keeper]: Alex just doesn't want his place to burn down... ;) [Early Hutz]: "Thanks for the advice." Early Hutz looks for a cab. [Keeper]: One cab won't hold everyone [Alexander St. James]: "Let's walk a couple blocks, then look for some cabs." [Early Hutz]: It'll hold me. ;-) William Hollis looks for a cab as well [Allen Speight]: "Very well, I can see I'm no longer needed here. I'll be off to the police now, to give a full report." [Sebastian Dark]: "There's a hotel just up the street" [Alexander St. James]: "I think it's out of our price range." [Early Hutz]: "Let's just go back to your flat for now, and we'll work things out later." [Alexander St. James]: "Allen, you saw what I did at the hotel, didn't you? The police officer pointed us out to the man in the alley." [Alexander St. James]: "I'm not sure we can trust the police." [Sebastian Dark]: ooc just how much money do we have? [Early Hutz]: "For God's sake, LET'S GO!" William Hollis keeps looking for a cab and glancing around to see if anyone is watching them [Keeper]: You're going to have more on you than the people who left their travel funds at the first hotel Early Hutz is clearly agitated and looking around alot. [Keeper]: I'd say if the original group pools their money they might have 200 pounds on them [Sebastian Dark]: "Was something following you?" Alexander St. James begins walking away from the foundation building. [Early Hutz]: "I'd rather not risk it." Early Hutz follows Alex. William Hollis follows Alex and Early Sebastian Dark follows after Alexander, now getting nervous and looking around too. [Allen Speight]: : reluctantly trails behind [Keeper]: There is one lone taxi on the street now that is starting to overtake you [Allen Speight]: bleh Allen Speight reluctantly trails behind [William Hollis]: "um...we kind of broke their alter, so we think they won't be too happy about that...." Early Hutz hails the cab. Sebastian Dark looks at the cab [Alexander St. James]: "Altar? Nevermind.. tell me when we get somewhere safe." [Keeper]: "Hey, didn't I pick those guys up just a little while ago?" [Early Hutz]: "Dunno. Who's going to Alex's flat?" [Alexander St. James]: "Yes, we ran into some friends of ours." [Alexander St. James]: "Does it have to be my flat?" [Early Hutz]: "Where else?" [William Hollis]: "yes, now let's go" [Alexander St. James]: "We'll need another cab." Early Hutz gets in the cab. "Squeeze in if you want, but I'm not hanging out here anymore." William Hollis gets in the cab Sebastian Dark calculates how many people can fit in one cab, including the driver [Keeper]: You can comfortably fit thee in back, one in front [Allen Speight]: "Well if you don't mind, I've had enough excitement for one evening. You'll find me in the hotel if you need a doctor. Now good night." Allen Speight walks toward the expensive hotel [Keeper]: The cabby spots something and begins to flash his headlights [Early Hutz]: "What a charming man." [Early Hutz]: "What's that for?" Alexander St. James gives them directions to his flat. "You three go first. We'll catch another cab and meet you there." Allen Speight mutters about Americans [William Hollis]: "seems like a typical doctor to me...." Sebastian Dark Looks at what the headlights are flashing at [Keeper]: Another taxi pulls up along side the one that's stopped [Early Hutz]: "Now can we go?" [Keeper]: "I've got too large of group; ya want some?" [Keeper]: "Sure thing..." Alexander St. James gets in the second cab. Sebastian Dark gets into second cab [Early Hutz]: "Follow that second cab." Alexander St. James gives directions to his flat. [Sebastian Dark]: "Hey doc, you sure you want to go off on your own. One of those thugs may have ID'd you" Alexander St. James shouts "Dr. Speight! You may wish to come with us! It's probably safer!" [Keeper]: Well, if that's it then... [Allen Speight]: "I don't know what any of you are talking about. Cults and Arabs and robbers and altars, pshaw. I am going to bed, and I'll decide what to do in the morning." [Alexander St. James]: "Very well, then." To cabbie: "Drive" [Sebastian Dark]: "Just think about the stories you'll be able to tell your grandkids." [Keeper]: The taxi's drive off heading toward Alex's place and a whole lot of exposition Allen Speight goes into the hotel and pays for a room (Keeper whispered to Allen Speight): While they're trying to puzzle out the tons of data they've got we're going to skip ahead with you (Alexander St. James whispered to Keeper): I would assume my flat is a small, sparse place. As a traveller, I try to make sure I don't own more than can fit in a suitcase and a steamer trunk. (Keeper whispered to Allen Speight): To whisper you click the little button next to the chat and choose who you want to talk to (Allen Speight whispered to Keeper): alrighty -- think i'll be going to the police come morning . .. Sebastian Dark mutters under his breath "Damn fool." (Keeper whispered to Alexander St. James): Sounds fine (Keeper whispered to Alexander St. James): You guys are going to chat in the open while I talk with Allen [Alexander St. James]: "Well, come on up. I think we all have some talking to do." Early Hutz goes upstairs. "You got any Scotch in here?" William Hollis makes sure nobody is following them and heads upstairs Sebastian Dark goes up to the flat. (Keeper whispered to Allen Speight): You get a pleasent room and finally get some sleep [Alexander St. James]: "I've got half a bottle of rum, I think, but that's it." (Allen Speight whispered to Keeper): I lock the door before bed (Keeper whispered to Allen Speight): Okay [Early Hutz]: "I'll take some of that. I've got quite the headache, here." [William Hollis]: "i'll take the rum please...need to get that image of that stature out of my head" (Keeper whispered to Allen Speight): And you said you had your doctor's bag and some small luggage [Sebastian Dark]: "Now whats this about an altar?" (Allen Speight whispered to Keeper): yes Alexander St. James unlocks the room and enters. (Allen Speight whispered to Keeper): I take another look at the mouse (Allen Speight whispered to Keeper): just out of curiousity [Early Hutz]: "I'm sorry, but I don't know you." [Alexander St. James]: "It's not much, I'm afraid. Just a place to stay while I'm in London." (Keeper whispered to Allen Speight): Roll again then DICE for Allen Speight: (1d100) : 1d100=10 = [ 10 ] [William Hollis]: "Where is Roland?" (Keeper whispered to Allen Speight): It wasn't the heart that was removed. It was the lungs. You never did discect one in college and got a bit confused Early Hutz takes Alexander aside. [Alexander St. James]: "He was taken at the hotel. Three thugs grabbed him. They looked Arabic." (Early Hutz whispered to Keeper): "Who is this guy? Can we trust him?" (Allen Speight whispered to Keeper): a bit defensive then, I decide to do a complete dissection to be thorough and make no more mistakes [Sebastian Dark]: " And there was a green flame that seemed alive." William Hollis takes a drink of the rum "Ah....i see, that's not good" (Keeper whispered to Allen Speight): Okay, the blood has pooled only a little so it was done earlier this evening (Keeper whispered to Allen Speight): You think you've identified all the major internal organs and the lungs are the only thing missing (Early Hutz whispered to Keeper): "Unless he was a plant. Let's be careful." (Allen Speight whispered to Keeper): the lungs . . . and that St. James fellow couldn't breathe . . . I fall asleep thinking about this . . . [William Hollis]: "anyone want to take a look at these books for me?" [Early Hutz]: "Tell us about yourself, Sebastian? How did you end up at the hotel?" (Keeper whispered to Allen Speight): You're having a nightmare about an egyptian pharoah and pyramid that is mishapen by having it's point off center (Keeper whispered to Allen Speight): The pharoah wants something from you, but you can't be certain what and he's threatening to hurt you if you don't comply [Sebastian Dark]: "I've been travelling around Europe for some time now, but I usually base myself out of this area." [Early Hutz]: "Travelling? Doing what?" [William Hollis]: "and just what is it that you do again?" [Sebastian Dark]: "It just happens I picked the wrong hotel tonight." (Keeper whispered to Allen Speight): You're awakened by a voice in your room. "Dr. Speight." (Keeper whispered to Allen Speight): It's a distinctly upper class English accent (Allen Speight whispered to Keeper): startled, I sit up immediately (Allen Speight whispered to Keeper): look around [Early Hutz]: Does he have a British accent, or American? (or other?) (Keeper whispered to Allen Speight): "I must apologize for the trouble this evening, Dr. Speight. I do not like to involve so many people in my doings." (Keeper whispered to Allen Speight): The room is completely dark. (Keeper whispered to Allen Speight): You can't see a thing [Sebastian Dark]: "I've been seeking out history, mainly that of European superstitions. I picked up an interest in them back at school." (american accent) (Allen Speight whispered to Keeper): Good god, who are you and what right have you to be in my room? (reach for a lamp or the nearest light switch) [Early Hutz]: "Where did you go to school?" (Keeper whispered to Allen Speight): "I will only trouble you with one question and then I will go. Where are your companions from earlier this evening." (Keeper whispered to Allen Speight): You find the lamp that was on the night stand gone as you grope for it [Sebastian Dark]: "Miskatonic. Fine school but it is a bit odd sometimes." (Keeper whispered to Allen Speight): "They have done me a great injustice that I will see rectified. I believe you know where they are. Tell me." (Allen Speight whispered to Keeper): I . . . I don't know. They said they were going to someone's flat, but . . . now see here, you have no right to demand answers from me! (reach around for my cane on the floor) [Early Hutz]: Hmm. Have you heard of a professor Roland (whateverhislastnameis)? [Alexander St. James]: "You're kidding me. You went to Miskatonic U?" (Keeper whispered to Allen Speight): The cane is there since you grabbed it [Early Hutz]: "No, but Roland teaches there. He's our kidnapped companion." (Sebastian Dark whispered to Keeper): have I heard of Roland? (Keeper whispered to Sebastian Dark): Yeah, he was a crazy professor of Egyptology with some whacky theories (Allen Speight whispered to Keeper): (unsheathe the sword cane) I won't say another word until you show yourself and tell me who you are. [Alexander St. James]: "When? We might have had some of the same classes." [Early Hutz]: ooc - oops. You were asking that of Sebastian, not me. Sorry. (Keeper whispered to Allen Speight): "Dr. Speight, you are making this difficult. I would not like being forced to hurt you." [Alexander St. James]: ooc np [Sebastian Dark]: "Yes I did. I got my BA there in european studies. And I do remember Professor Roland." William Hollis takes another drink of the rum (Allen Speight whispered to Keeper): (voice getting a little shrill) I'm telling you, they went to a flat, I didn't stop to hear the directions they gave the cabbie!" [Sebastian Dark]: "He did seem a bit off his rocker though" (Eric Macaulay whispered to Keeper): ok sorry that took so long (Keeper whispered to Allen Speight): "Who's flat, Dr. Speight?" [Sebastian Dark]: "I graduated about 4 years ago." [Early Hutz]: ooc - Windemeer is his last name! (Keeper whispered to Eric Macaulay): They're handing out exposition at Alex's apartment right now [Early Hutz]: "Are you on a trust fund or something? How do you afford to travel Europe?" (Allen Speight whispered to Keeper): Someone, someone who was at the hotel, I don't know his full name . . . I warn you, I am not a novice with a blade, sir! [Alexander St. James]: "Ah. After my time, then." (Allen Speight whispered to Keeper): (swings sword cane from side to side a couple times) . . . starts to inch toward where I think I remember the door was (Keeper whispered to Eric Macaulay): "Hold him, please." Someone grabs your arms. (Keeper whispered to Allen Speight): "Hold him, please." Someone grabs your arms. (Keeper whispered to Eric Macaulay): Sorry (Keeper whispered to Eric Macaulay): Wrong person [Sebastian Dark]: My parents are well off. I'm the only heir, so they have no problem financing my travels. I do believe mother is hoping I find a nice girl over here to settle down with." (Allen Speight whispered to Keeper): I flail and struggle, let out a less-than-masculine yelp (Keeper whispered to Allen Speight): "Dr. Speight, this is your last chance before we are forced to attempt to jog your memory. Who's flat?" [Early Hutz]: "Well, as you can probably tell, we're in some serious shit here. If you want to walk out the door now, I wouldn't blame you." (Keeper whispered to Allen Speight): You can roll to break free (Allen Speight whispered to Keeper): They called him Alex, I don't know his full name DICE for Allen Speight: (1d100) : 1d100=54 = [ 54 ] [Sebastian Dark]: "I told Alexander I'd help him, and I am a man of my word." William Hollis gets up and looks out the window [Early Hutz]: "All right. We made it into the Foundation around back. We didn't bother trying the front way, that would just be foolish, wouldn't it?" ;-) (Keeper whispered to Allen Speight): "Very well then." You feel something cold and metal stick up against your throat. "If I should find you are lying, I will be forced to visit you again." (Keeper whispered to Allen Speight): They push you face down into your bed [William Hollis]: "yeah, i mean who would try something like that?" (Allen Speight whispered to Keeper): I gulp loudly, but don't say anything (Keeper whispered to Allen Speight): "Let's go gentlemen." You hear the door open and then close rapidly [Alexander St. James]: "Say Early, this may sound very strange, but... did you have a rather odd dream about Egypt recently?" [Early Hutz]: "After a nasty encounter with a thug, we found a closet with an old sarcophagus in it." Sebastian Dark blushes slightly William Hollis looks at Early "a thug?" [Keeper]: Everyone in the apartment should roll for me DICE for Alexander St. James: (1d100) : 1d100=43 = [ 43 ] DICE for William Hollis: (1d100) : 1d100=25 = [ 25 ] [Early Hutz]: "Actually, after the thug knocked me out, I did have a dream of Egypt with you, Roland, and Eric." DICE for Sebastian Dark: (1d100) : 1d100=8 = [ 8 ] DICE for Early Hutz: (1d100) : 1d100=38 = [ 38 ] (Allen Speight whispered to Keeper): I grab my cane and dash into the hall to face them in the light William Hollis is glad he wasn't in the dream [Keeper]: That includes Eric DICE for Eric Macaulay: (1d100) : 1d100=43 = [ 43 ] [Early Hutz]: "Yes. A thug." [Alexander St. James]: "Yes, it's rather odd, that we would all have the same dream. But anyway.. continue with your story." (Eric Macaulay whispered to Keeper): sorry about that I was reading (Keeper whispered to Alexander St. James): You feel like you're being watched (Keeper whispered to Sebastian Dark): You feel like you're being watched [Early Hutz]: "Well, I flipped some switch on the sarcophagus, and it revealed a secret passageway" Sebastian Dark Looks out the window (Keeper whispered to Allen Speight): There are three men in the hallway walking away from you. They're at the top of the stairs [Early Hutz]: "We went down there and found a room with glyphs, an altar, some crates, and bookshelves." [Alexander St. James]: "I hope we weren't followed here." [William Hollis]: "that's what these books and scrolls are from..." [Early Hutz]: "The crates had some odd statues in them." (Allen Speight whispered to Keeper): I brandish my cane, but am too terrified to rush at them, when they disappear from view, I try to follow after them, trying to get a glimpse of a face [Early Hutz]: "We knocked over the altar, and found a metal box hidden below it." (Keeper whispered to Allen Speight): They go down the stairs [Early Hutz]: "In there were these." Early Hutz shows the clay vial, the robe, and the silver dagger. (Keeper whispered to Allen Speight): You creep along and spot one of them who stopped to use a phone in the lobby [Sebastian Dark]: "Guys, have you ever had that feeling like your being watched. Maybe it's just paranoia from earlier, but..." (Keeper whispered to Allen Speight): He's an older man with white hair and a business suit William Hollis takes a look out the window again [Early Hutz]: "I wouldn't doubt we were being watched. Can we pull those shades?" (Allen Speight whispered to Keeper): I do all I can to stay concealed . . ., can I get close enough to hear what he's saying? [Early Hutz]: "I wanted Roland to translate some of these scrolls - they're in heiroglyphics." Sebastian Dark checks the front door (Keeper whispered to Allen Speight): Tall forehead, his face appears somewhat flat because of his small nose and chin (Eric Macaulay whispered to Keeper): have I seen everything Early and William saw down in the chamber? (Keeper whispered to Allen Speight): You cannot get that close without going downstairs where they'll see you (Allen Speight whispered to Keeper): alright, I stay up where I won't be seen [Early Hutz]: "Regardless, we can't stay in London much longer. We need to find Roland and get out of here, because the Foundation is going to know we broke in." [Early Hutz]: "Does anyone know anything about "Nyarlathotep"?" [Eric Macaulay]: "We still need to check back with The Scoop as well, before we leave." (Allen Speight whispered to Keeper): when they leave the hotel, I'll slip downstairs and watch them go (Keeper whispered to Allen Speight): Eventually, he hangs up, snaps his fingers and two large men (not the thugs you saw before, they're apparently English) step over to him and they leave the lobby [Alexander St. James]: "Doesn't sound too familiar. Where did you come across that name?" [Early Hutz]: "In one of the books." (Keeper whispered to Allen Speight): They head out of the lobby and turn left to walk down the street. It's almost dawn at this point and the sky is starting to brighten [Sebastian Dark]: "It doesn't sound familiar." [Alexander St. James]: "What are the books about, then?" Eric Macaulay looks at the vial, the robe and the dagger closely (Allen Speight whispered to Keeper): I run to the front desk, and bang on the bell to rouse the manager, night watchman, or whoever [William Hollis]: "didn't get a chance to look at the ones i took yet. you can take a look if you want though..." (Keeper whispered to Allen Speight): The manager comes out to talk to you [Early Hutz]: "They weren't all in English. The one that was mentioned Nyarlathotep, but we didn't have time to read them all." (Allen Speight whispered to Keeper): I tell him to call the police quickly [Keeper]: The robe is black with a silver inverted ankh embroitered in it. The dagger is also apparently silver and is of a very simple style (Allen Speight whispered to Keeper): Scream at him if he doesn't move fast enough for me "Matter of life and death!" [Keeper]: The vial is clay with a wax stopper [Alexander St. James]: "Does that symbol look familiar to any of you?" (Keeper whispered to Allen Speight): He calls the police for you and they arrive in about ten minutes [Early Hutz]: "Yeah. It definitely involves the cult." [Eric Macaulay]: "MIght as well add to the pile, I did pick this up, but it's more of the same." [Early Hutz]: "The ankh was on the altar, too." (Allen Speight whispered to Keeper): I tell them that there is going to be an attack on a man staying at the hotel earlier, someone named "Alex" -- They must find the address of his flat Eric Macaulay puts the neckless he took off the cleaning lady on with the other items William Hollis examines the necklace [Sebastian Dark]: "Any of you guys know what one of them would be doing with a cut up mouse?" (Allen Speight whispered to Keeper): I tell them to check with the cab company, too, find out who picked up a group of men on this street last nigth (Keeper whispered to Allen Speight): They take the report and promise to send someone by as soon as they can identify them [Alexander St. James]: "Ah, yes, perhaps I should explain something of what we went through." [Eric Macaulay]: "Cut up mouse?" [Early Hutz]: "I don't know, but it's better than their usual - cut up people." [William Hollis]: "one of who?" (Allen Speight whispered to Keeper): No, No, no! It must be done now, I tell you! The thugs are on their way! [Keeper]: The necklace is a simple chain with a pendant in the style of the inverted ankh [Keeper]: Dawn is breaking guys [William Hollis]: is it like the one i found on the guy at the party? [Alexander St. James]: "First off, the hotel burned down. There was some strange kind of flame... like a ball of green fire. It seemed to move on its own." (Allen Speight whispered to Keeper): I get the manager to call the cab company for me (Keeper whispered to Allen Speight): The cab company refused to hand out those records, especially over the phone [Keeper]: There's a knock on the door to the apartment [Early Hutz]: "Crap." [Alexander St. James]: "Roland and I escaped, and went to another hotel. Then a few hours ago, three men grabbed him, and that hotel burned down as well." (Allen Speight whispered to Keeper): I call for a cab myself [Keeper]: "Police! Open up!" Early Hutz looks for a hiding spot. Sebastian Dark stands to side of the door that opens and draws his pistol [Sebastian Dark]: "do we trust them?" William Hollis hides (Keeper whispered to Allen Speight): The streets are starting to fill up with people on their way to work. You don't have any trouble getting a taxi Early Hutz whispers, "Put that away! Don't shoot the cops!" Eric Macaulay hides as well Alexander St. James whispers: "Not really. Try to get out the window." Eric Macaulay looks out the window [Alexander St. James]: "If it's clear." William Hollis peeks out the window to see if there are cops outside as well [Keeper]: There's another strong knock on the door [Keeper]: You do see a police car out the window [Alexander St. James]: "Just a minute!" [Keeper]: And another one is pulling up [Eric Macaulay]: "More coming" (Allen Speight whispered to Keeper): I tell the taxi driver if he knows who was on duty in this neighborhood last night . .. and if not, to take me to his central dispatch office [Alexander St. James]: "Damn" [Sebastian Dark]: holsters his pistol. Sebastian Dark holsters his pistol (Keeper whispered to Allen Speight): He says he was. He was just about to get off from his shift [Early Hutz]: "I think we're stuck." [Sebastian Dark]: "maybe you should hide that stuff" (Allen Speight whispered to Keeper): Did you pick anyone up on this street, a group of men? [William Hollis]: "is there another way out of here?" [Alexander St. James]: "Very well then. Hide everything that you can." (Keeper whispered to Allen Speight): I didn't, but a buddy of mine did and they were too much for him so we split the load William Hollis grabs the books and hides them Eric Macaulay hides and pockets what he can [Early Hutz]: "Where? Anywhere secure?" Alexander St. James begins to unlock the door (Allen Speight whispered to Keeper): Do you remember where you took them? [Alexander St. James]: "My trunk." Eric Macaulay helps move the stuff to the trunk Alexander St. James tosses Early the key. (Keeper whispered to Allen Speight): No, but I've got it down here in my book Early Hutz puts stuff in trunk & locks it. (Allen Speight whispered to Keeper): Take me there now Early Hutz puts key in couch cushion. (Keeper whispered to Allen Speight): You got it. [Sebastian Dark]: does the door have a peephole? [Alexander St. James]: "Everyone ready?" Alexander St. James opens the door [Early Hutz]: "As ready as we'll ever be." Eric Macaulay nods (Allen Speight whispered to Keeper): There's an extra half-crown in it for you if you get me there in 5 minutes Sebastian Dark stays off to side of the door and nods [Keeper]: Two policemen enter the flat followed by Edward Gavigan [Early Hutz]: "Edward! So good to see you again." [Keeper]: Gavigan speaks "Those are the men who accosted me earlier and were seen lurking around the foundation officer! I insist you arrest them immediately!" [Alexander St. James]: "What is going on here?" [Early Hutz]: "Accosted you? You've got to be joking." [Keeper]: "The man says that you stole five hundred pounds from his office safe. He says you were in the office and saw it sitting there." [Eric Macaulay]: "We did no such thing" [Early Hutz]: "I wish I had 500 pounds." [Keeper]: Gavigan chimes in, almost gloating; "They were consecutively numbered so we'll know if you have them." [Alexander St. James]: "Officer, nothing could be further from the truth. We visited Mr. Gavigan in his office to discuss business." [Eric Macaulay]: "We've maybe got 200 poinds on us" William Hollis has no clue what he is talking about [Eric Macaulay]: err pounds [Keeper]: The police officer continues. I need you all to empty your pockets. We'll need to see all the ten pound notes you have. [Keeper]: Another police officer comes into the flat. (Keeper whispered to Allen Speight): You're pulling up at this point Alexander St. James takes out his wallet [Keeper]: "We had a report that some one was going to break into here and they sent me by to check." Early Hutz shows his meager stash. (I didn't take his money, did I?) Eric Macaulay shows what he's got William Hollis nods to Eric [Sebastian Dark]: "Really?" [Keeper]: "Sorry, Phil, we're checking to see if these guys have stolen some money." [Keeper]: "Is that all, well I'll just tell them I checked." William Hollis empties his pockets of all cash [Sebastian Dark]: "Where did you get that report from?" [Keeper]: "We'll need to see your money as well, sir." He points at Sebastian Sebastian Dark shows him the money. (Keeper whispered to Allen Speight): The door to one of the flats as you enter the building is open and you pass a police officer descending the steps [Keeper]: "That's it then. None of these men have the stolen funds, Mr. Gavigan." [Early Hutz]: "Sorry, Ed." [Keeper]: "Then I insist you search this apartment." [Early Hutz]: "Please, this is absurd!." [Alexander St. James]: "I protest!" (Allen Speight whispered to Keeper): I walk past it, trying to be nonchalant, but trying also to get a glimpse inside [Keeper]: "We've troubled these good men enough with your accusations. Maybe you should check your own staff before accusing random people." [Early Hutz]: "Thank you, officer." [Keeper]: You see Allen Speight walk past the open door to the flat [Keeper]: Gavigan gives you a final glare and then leaves followed by the police officers Sebastian Dark waits for the officers to leave then goes to grab the doc. (Keeper whispered to Allen Speight): You recognize Gavigan's voice as the one from your hotel room. Eric Macaulay wonders why Allen is here [Early Hutz]: "Doctor?" [Sebastian Dark]: "Hey Doc. What's up?" [Allen Speight]: Ahem, yes, glad to see you're safe [Keeper]: Sebastian looses SAN for that comment [Early Hutz]: ooc - thank you! [Sebastian Dark]: ooc ;) [Alexander St. James]: "Dr. Speight! What a surprise to see you again." Eric Macaulay wonders how Allen knew we were here [Allen Speight]: What did the police want? Sebastian Dark leads Allen into the flat. Keeper notes he's been waiting four weeks for the payoff to that bit... Allen Speight closes the door behind them [Allen Speight]: I was visited last night Sebastian Dark draws pistol and points it at Allen. "How did you find us?" [Early Hutz]: "Christ! This guy's jumpier than me!" [Eric Macaulay]: ooc Early you have two protegés [Allen Speight]: Do any of you know a white-haired gentleman with a rather flat face? Rather arch British accent? William Hollis rolls his eyes [Alexander St. James]: "Sebastian, put down the pistol." [Keeper]: That would be Gavigan who just left [Sebastian Dark]: "Well, I figure we just had word someone was going to break in here, plus this Ed guy showing up, so I'm kind of suspicious." [Allen Speight]: I'm not saying anything more with a gun in my face [Early Hutz]: "Yeah. Eddy was here with the cops." Allen Speight looks put out Sebastian Dark holsters pistol. [Sebastian Dark]: "So, how did you find us?" [Allen Speight]: "That fellow with the police paid me a visit in my hotel last night." [Eric Macaulay]: ooc how long were we here at Alex's place? [Eric Macaulay]: err have we been here [Allen Speight]: "You're lucky I was clever enough to find you." [Keeper]: A few hours [Keeper]: It's early morning now [Eric Macaulay]: "How did he find you?" [Alexander St. James]: "What did Gavigan have to say to you?" (Eric Macaulay whispered to Keeper): Do I have any of the stuff that was lying about on me? [Allen Speight]: I don't know -- he got past my locked door as well. He said you had taken something from him, and when he didn't find what he was looking for from me, he moved on to the flat here [Allen Speight]: He came into my room with two of his thugs, and interrogated me in the dark [Allen Speight]: I'm lucky to be alive [Allen Speight]: Now I want to know what I'm risking my life for. [Sebastian Dark]: "Well, I hate to say I told you so, but..." (Keeper whispered to Allen Speight): Conveniently avoiding the part about getting the location from you. ;) (Allen Speight whispered to Keeper): But of course ;) [Early Hutz]: "Don't worry. Once we find our companion, we'll be gone and you won't have to worry about us." [Allen Speight]: Told me what? That a perfect stranger would pick my lock in an expensive hotel? [Alexander St. James]: "Remember what I told you, about how we suspected the director of the Penhew foundation had something to do with a disappearing expedition?" [Alexander St. James]: "Well, that's the guy." [Sebastian Dark]: "Well, I did say it would be a bad idea to go off by yourself." [Allen Speight]: Yes, of course, much better to be shacked up with you burgling Yanks [Allen Speight]: very safe [Early Hutz]: "You're welcome to head off now, if you'd like, Doctor." [Alexander St. James]: "I wouldn't recommend it, however. The cultists may have marked you already." [Allen Speight]: "Hmf, well, it seems I'm in the thick of it now, might as well find out what I've gotten itno." [Early Hutz]: "Just watch your comments on us, or you might wish you were with the cultists." [Allen Speight]: "I've had enough threats for one day, thank you very much. Yours are a little less impressive." [Eric Macaulay]: "Early calm down, we need to make plans to find Roland" [Early Hutz]: "It's not a threat. It's a statement that I have to trust the people I'm with. I don't trust you." [Allen Speight]: And I don't trust you, now, shall we get down to business? [Allen Speight]: Who is this Roland? [Early Hutz]: "As far as I'm concerned, you're not a part of our business." [Allen Speight]: Your enemies are convinced otherwise [Allen Speight]: And it looks like your short one pair of hands [Allen Speight]: I might as well make up the difference [Allen Speight]: Besides, I am not altogether useless. What have you learned about the Foundation? [Early Hutz]: "If you'll at least stop with your disparaging remarks about a group of people you don't even know, then I'll stop saying we should feed you to the cultists." [Alexander St. James]: "Early, considering our record so far, I think having a doctor along would definitely be an advantage." [Sebastian Dark]: "For some reason that statement doesn't comfort me." [Eric Macaulay]: ooc it's only been that way cause Early's so good with words ;-) (Keeper whispered to Allen Speight): I guess Early doesn't want any medical treatment for his wounds [Alexander St. James]: "It never does. I think, more than anything else right now, we need to figure out how to find Roland." [Keeper]: I can't help but notice Early is theonly wounded member of the group right now [Keeper]: Arguing for the expulsion of a doctor [Early Hutz]: "The doctor wants to make me out to be evil for breaking into the foundation. He doesn't know that this cult killed Jackson, injured others, and that Nick died on his way over." [Eric Macaulay]: ooc I noticed that too [Early Hutz]: "He doesn't know that they've made numerous attempts on our lives." [Early Hutz]: [Early Hutz]: "Yet he wants to label me as the bad guy for trying to find out some information on the foundation." [Allen Speight]: "I'm sorry if I tend to be disparaging toward people who almost get me killed for reasons they refuse to explain to me, but I'm prepared to forgive. And you, Early?" [Early Hutz]: "And as it turns out, while we were seeking that information , the cult burned down two hotels and kidnapped our friend. But I'll put it aside, too." William Hollis fills his glass with more rum and downs it [Allen Speight]: "I'm only here because I tried to help find your friend." [Alexander St. James]: "Which brings us back to Roland." [Sebastian Dark]: "Any idea on where they may have taken him?" [Early Hutz]: "What do we know about the kidnappers?" [Eric Macaulay]: "Do we have any leads at all?" [William Hollis]: "Where do we even begin to know where Roland may be?" [Alexander St. James]: "Three men. Looked Arabic." [Allen Speight]: "There is one thing . . . I almost hesitate to bring up . . ." [Sebastian Dark]: "Sailors maybe?" [Early Hutz]: "Don't hesistate. We need all the information we can get right now." [Alexander St. James]: "There was another man near the hotel. He was carrying a mouse that had been killed in a ritualistic manner." [Allen Speight]: "The mouse from last night, I took another look. It turns out, in fact, that it was the lungs which were removed . . . and you had that asthmatic attack in the alley, Alex?" [Allen Speight]: "It sounds bizarre, but I wonder . . ." [Alexander St. James]: "Yes. You think there's some connection?" Eric Macaulay is definately not comforted by that thought [Allen Speight]: "It almost makes one think of voodoo" [William Hollis]: "i wouldn't doubt it" [Allen Speight]: "And you mentioned cults, and, well, perhaps my imagination . . ." [Sebastian Dark]: "Well, we all saw how the fire seemed to be alive, so I'd say there's a likely connection." [Alexander St. James]: "More than just imagination, I would say." [Sebastian Dark]: "The man you saw probably was responsible for the fire if he could also do what Allen is suggesting." [Allen Speight]: "What was unearthed in the foundation? No further clues there?" [Alexander St. James]: "Why don't we take a look at those books you found, see if they give any hints to the nature of the cult?" Early Hutz relates the info from the foundation (you already caught all that, right?) [Allen Speight]: bits and pieces, half-understood, yes ;) [Keeper]: Half-understood is par for the course around here. ;) [Early Hutz]: I found the crap, and I only 1/4 understand it! William Hollis gets the key from the couch and opens up the trunk to get the books Early Hutz retrieves the key from its hiding place and gets the books from the trunk. William Hollis passes the books to Alexander Sebastian and Eric Sebastian Dark looks over the books he is passed. [Early Hutz]: "I also found this note in an empty scroll box." Shows them the note. [Allen Speight]: "Did someone say they were wounded?" Eric Macaulay looks at the note [Early Hutz]: "I got in a little scuffle." [Keeper]: The note says "Bring for the Promethians [Eric Macaulay]: "Yeah, Early over there, he got beaten up pretty bad" [Alexander St. James]: What languages are the books in? [Eric Macaulay]: "Oh sorry, he fought valiantly" [Allen Speight]: "Here then, let me take a look." Eric Macaulay snickers (Keeper whispered to Sebastian Dark): The book you open is filled with praise to a being called Nyarlathotep. He's also refered to the crawling chaos, the soul of the gods, and other names (Keeper whispered to Sebastian Dark): It also details certain rituals that are particularly awful (Keeper whispered to Sebastian Dark): Roll for your SAN [Keeper]: Allen can roll DICE for Sebastian Dark: (1d100) : 1d100=61 = [ 61 ] DICE for Allen Speight: (1d100) : 1d100=27 = [ 27 ] [Keeper]: Two are in English, one in Latin, one in German DICE for Keeper: (1d6) : 1d6=1 = [ 1 ] [Eric Macaulay]: "Hmm, I know latin a lot better than I know German." [Keeper]: Sebastian loses a SAN and gains 3 points Cthulhu Mythos [Eric Macaulay]: which book is Sebastian reading? [Allen Speight]: "I know some German, let me see." [William Hollis]: "i know a bit of latin as well.....i think... [Keeper]: Sebastian is reading one in English Eric Macaulay picks up the latin book [Alexander St. James]: "I'll take a look at the other English one." William Hollis takes a look at the book in latin that Eric is holding [Sebastian Dark]: "Umm, interesting.... It's pretty graphic." (Eric Macaulay whispered to Keeper): heh heh, time to risk my SAN again Allen Speight takes the German book, and skims Eric Macaulay reads over the book [Keeper]: Everyone who's reading a book, roll for their SAN DICE for Alexander St. James: (1d100) : 1d100=40 = [ 40 ] DICE for Eric Macaulay: (1d100) : 1d100=78 = [ 78 ] DICE for William Hollis: (1d100) : 1d100=74 = [ 74 ] DICE for Allen Speight: (1d100) : 1d100=7 = [ 7 ] [Eric Macaulay]: ooc d'oh [Keeper]: Let's see DICE for Keeper: (1d8) : 1d8=1 = [ 1 ] Sebastian Dark Dark puts down the enlgish book and looks disgusted. (Keeper whispered to Allen Speight): This is Unausprechlichen Kulten, a tome covering the ceremonies of certain cults in medieval Germany. One section on a that worshiped Grendle is well read. [Keeper]: allen loses a SAN and gains 5 points of Cthulhu Mythos just for skimming it [Keeper]: You don't want to know how much he gets for actually reading it (Allen Speight whispered to Keeper): I pay closer attention to that well-thumbed section [Early Hutz]: ooc - that's a good ratio! [Alexander St. James]: ooc If you consider CM a good thing [Keeper]: William, roll for your Latin understanding DICE for William Hollis: (1d100) : 1d100=84 = [ 84 ] [William Hollis]: ooc - what is with my rolls today... [Eric Macaulay]: ooc too bad you weren't there for the dream DICE for Keeper: (1d6) : 1d6=4 = [ 4 ] [William Hollis]: so...how much sanity do i have left? (Keeper whispered to Alexander St. James): This is a book about Atlantis, the odd thing is it details Atlantis being located in the Pacific. It also speaks of the gods of atlantis including one terrible one that was like a squid but also a man called Cthulhu. [Keeper]: William can't translate it [Eric Macaulay]: what about me? [Keeper]: Alex losed 4 SAN and gains 9 points of cthulhu mythos [Keeper]: Just because his book was easier to get into [William Hollis]: ooh, good...no translation, nothing gained nothing lost [Alexander St. James]: "Hmm. Does the name Cthulhu mean anything to you guys?" [Keeper]: Roll Eric [Eric Macaulay]: again? [Keeper]: For your latin check DICE for Eric Macaulay: (1d100) : 1d100=45 = [ 45 ] William Hollis looks at Alexander [Eric Macaulay]: oh [William Hollis]: "what was that name again?" [Sebastian Dark]: "Ca-who?" [Alexander St. James]: "Wait a minute... that idol we saw at the museum... the man with the head of a squid." [Early Hutz]: "There was a statue of that in the secret room at the Foundation." [William Hollis]: "hmm....i remember seeing something like that not too long ago... Eric Macaulay is drawing a blank [William Hollis]: "very repulsive..." [Alexander St. James]: "It's a book about Atlantis. It says one of the gods of Atlantis was named Cthulhu, and it was like a squid but also like a man." (Keeper whispered to Eric Macaulay): This book is called the Liber Ivonis. It is apparently the collected notes of an ancient Wizard named Eibon who lived someplace called "Hyperboria". Lots of details on magic that it will take some time to work through DICE for Keeper: (1d4) : 1d4=4 = [ 4 ] DICE for Keeper: (1d4) : 1d4=2 = [ 2 ] [Alexander St. James]: "But it says that Atlantis was in the Pacific. Most unusual." [Keeper]: Eric loses 6 SAN and gains seven points of Cthulhu Mythos [Sebastian Dark]: "Was this a good god?" [Allen Speight]: Yes, the squid gods are always the best [Alexander St. James]: "Definitely not." [William Hollis]: "i don't think so" [Eric Macaulay]: "Well this book is called the Liber Ivonis. It is apparently the collected notes of an ancient wizard named Eibon who lived in someplace called 'Hyperboria'. There is a lot of detail about magic, but it would take some time to work through it" [Alexander St. James]: "Any mention of whatever it was that man killed the mouse for?" (Allen Speight whispered to Keeper): I take a closer look at the Grendle-cult section [Keeper]: You can dig for it if you want [Eric Macaulay]: "You mean lung?" [Eric Macaulay]: were these the books off the bookshelf? (Keeper whispered to Allen Speight): The book claims they could bring the beast to them, control it, and set it against their foes (Keeper whispered to Allen Speight): It does detail the ceremony they used to do it William Hollis nods to Eric [Sebastian Dark]: "Sounds like this Cthulhu is a relation to Nyarlathotep." (Keeper whispered to Allen Speight): Grendle's motheris also prominately mentioned (Keeper whispered to Allen Speight): It says that she had a thousand children like Grendle [Alexander St. James]: "What is Nyarlathotep?" [Eric Macaulay]: "Does anyone know?" (Keeper whispered to Allen Speight): Yes, these books are off the bookshelf (Allen Speight whispered to Keeper): Any details about the ceremony or description of Grendle that seem familiar in light of last night's events? (Keeper whispered to Allen Speight): Sorry [Sebastian Dark]: "He's talked about in this one book." Sebastian Dark holds up the book he read through. "Quite disgusting stuff." [Eric Macaulay]: "What did it say?" (Keeper whispered to Allen Speight): No. It involves human sacrifice on a certain evening before a steele that has been consecrated [Allen Speight]: Well mine details some rather obscure Germanic cults, but nothing that seems relevant to our current problems [Sebastian Dark]: "It listed rituals and had a lot of praise for him. Referred to him as the crawling chaos and the soul of the gods." [Sebastian Dark]: ooc did Cthulhu come up in that book? [William Hollis]: "I don't think any of this will help us find Roland though..." [Alexander St. James]: "What sort of rituals?" (Keeper whispered to Allen Speight): No. No Cthulhu in that book (Keeper whispered to Allen Speight): Ack! [Keeper]: No, no Cthulhu in that book [Eric Macaulay]: "Was Roland the one who went to the scoop a second time?" [Sebastian Dark]: ooc OK, what were the rituals? [Early Hutz]: "We should talk to the folks at The Scoop. They might now something about these Arabic men walking around." [Allen Speight]: The Scoop? Can someone fill me in? [Alexander St. James]: "I was hoping something here would give us a hint as to what they might have done with Roland." [Keeper]: They're too horrible and sanity blasting for me to describe [Early Hutz]: "It's a newspaper here that we've been sharing information with." [Allen Speight]: Ah, of course, read it every morning ;P [Sebastian Dark]: "The rituals were pretty bad. I can't quite bring myself to talk about them." [Keeper]: It's a weekly [Allen Speight]: Every Sunday morning, I mean [Keeper]: It's also more of a National Enquirer kind of paper [Early Hutz]: ooc - Yeah, but he re-reads it every morning - it's that good! [Allen Speight]: Well, a fellow has to have something to do in the lu [Sebastian Dark]: "Aah, the Scoop. Wasn't that the one that had the Loch Ness monster on it's cover last week? Something about it mating with a local girl?" [Eric Macaulay]: ooc considering the look of their office, I don't think they have many dedicated readers [Allen Speight]: Well then, I can't say I have a very high opinion of this American journalism . . . [Keeper]: They're as british as the Sun. ;) [Early Hutz]: "It's London paper." [Allen Speight]: I know, but influences from you sorts [Allen Speight]: sharing information indeed! [Alexander St. James]: "Well, then. One book on Atlantis, one on Nyarlthotep, one on German cults, and one wizard's diary. Nothing to hint at what's happened to Roland." Keeper notes we don't have page 3 girls [Early Hutz]: "Please. More of these comments?" [Sebastian Dark]: ooc is allen British? [Allen Speight]: ooc allen is a fruit [Allen Speight]: ooc so yes, I guess [Keeper]: Birthplace of vienna according to you.;) [Keeper]: That would make you Austrian [Allen Speight]: ooc yes, but moved when he was young [Allen Speight]: ooc sorry, should have gone over this before -- German only at half [Keeper]: Okay [Allen Speight]: ooc English his first language [Keeper]: Not a problem [Keeper]: So what's your plan then guys? [Keeper]: I need you to have some lead before we quit so I don't have to tell bcr you let him get kidnapped and left him behind [Allen Speight]: "Well, it seems we wanted to track down those swarthy fellows." [Early Hutz]: "I say we hit The Scoop" [Alexander St. James]: "We've got to find Roland, but I'm not sure where to start." [Eric Macaulay]: "I agree with Early" Eric Macaulay looks at his watch [Keeper]: It's nearly noon [Alexander St. James]: "Maybe we should also check the Penhew foundation again." [Keeper]: It takes time to read those tomes of evil [Eric Macaulay]: "Alexander, have you had a chance to look at those scrolls?" [Allen Speight]: "Fair enough, the scoop probably has a better idea where to find ruffians than most" [Alexander St. James]: "Not yet. Any in a recognizable language?" [Early Hutz]: "They might call the cops on us at Penhew. We did kind of break in and steal stuff." [Keeper]: All hieroglyphs [William Hollis]: "I don't think we should go back to the Penhew foundation any time soon" [ BreakMan left the game ] [Sebastian Dark]: "If the Penew Foundation took Roland, maybe we can offer to trade them something in exchangefor them." [Keeper]: Eric's been kidnapped too! [Early Hutz]: By the gods of bad internet connections. [Sebastian Dark]: "Oh no! We're dropping like flies!" [ BreakMan joined the game ] [Eric Macaulay]: sorry [Keeper]: Guess the kidnappers didn't want him [Allen Speight]: "Well we know Roland was taken by some Arabic-looking fellows, rather large ones, perhaps we should ask around in the Egyptian quarter, if London has one . . . The Scoop might help there, too -- might know some rumors of Eqyptian cultists" (Eric Macaulay whispered to Keeper): anything happen while I was gone? (Keeper whispered to Eric Macaulay): Nothing at all [Early Hutz]: "My thoughts exactly. Let's hit The Scoop." (Eric Macaulay whispered to Keeper): Did I ask is Alex looked over those scrolls? [Sebastian Dark]: "The Scoop it is then." [Alexander St. James]: "Very well. The Scoop it is." (Eric Macaulay whispered to Keeper): err if (Keeper whispered to Eric Macaulay): Yes, he can't read them either. They're all hieroglyphic Eric Macaulay nods [Early Hutz]: ooc - I have a feeling we're not going to find Roland today. [Keeper]: I bet I will [Sebastian Dark]: "We should lock this stuff up." [Allen Speight]: "We should burn it." [Allen Speight]: "An abomination, all of it." [Alexander St. James]: "Better yet, we'll hide it." [Early Hutz]: "Haven't you had enough fire?" Eric Macaulay shakes his head, and starts picking up the books to put them away [Allen Speight]: "The green kind, yes." [Alexander St. James]: "We'll simply misfile everything in the library at the Royal Museum." [Sebastian Dark]: "They belong in a museum!" [Early Hutz]: "Let's put them away and get on our way." [Early Hutz]: ooc - thanks, Indy [Allen Speight]: "Yes, lock and Key for now, let's be on our way." [Alexander St. James]: "They know where this place is, though. They're likely to come back when we're not here." [Allen Speight]: "Well it wouldn't be any better to take them with us." [Sebastian Dark]: "Perhaps a bank box then?" [Alexander St. James]: "That would work, also." [Eric Macaulay]: "How are we supposed to take all of it with us, without being noticed" [Allen Speight]: "Let's split up then -- we needn't all go to the Scoop, and a few of us can find safe storage for these things." [Alexander St. James]: "I'll take the books and such and go over to the museum." [Early Hutz]: "Don't leave them at the museum. We don't need people finding this stuff." [Alexander St. James]: "I'll put them on the shelves with something no one ever reads. Crop reports from the 1870's or somesuch." [Allen Speight]: "Are there any things that seem valuable, or that may be especially important to the Foundation?" [Early Hutz]: "Why? We need to keep them." [Alexander St. James]: "We'd know where they were." [Early Hutz]: "I'm not comfotable with it, but if everyone else wants to do it, I'll concede." [Sebastian Dark]: "A bank box is probably the most secure." [Alexander St. James]: "I'm just worried that we might cause a bank to burn down. I doubt cultist's would be so bold as to go after the Royal Museum." [Allen Speight]: "I'm not really sure why we need all the books." [Alexander St. James]: "But you may be right." [Eric Macaulay]: "I rather put them in a bank box" Keeper growls somethign about it being the _British_ Museum [Alexander St. James]: "We'll put them in a bank box, then." [Early Hutz]: "How do we hide the robe and vial at the museum, anyway?" [Allen Speight]: Yes, I think the robe and vial are a special case [Sebastian Dark]: "Is the vial open?" [Alexander St. James]: ooc Err.. British Museum. I knew I'd get that wrong. Keeper chants www.british-museum.ac.uk [Keeper]: No, the vial has not been opened by anyone [Sebastian Dark]: "Anyone want to see whats in it?" [Eric Macaulay]: "I don't think we should" [Allen Speight]: Hmm, I have some knowledge of chemistry . . . perhaps I'd better get to a lab to have it analyzed . . . [Early Hutz]: And I'm not going to be the one who opens it! [Alexander St. James]: "Okay, we'll stop by a bank on our way to the Scoop." Eric Macaulay has lost enough SAN today William Hollis checks to see if there is any rum left [Early Hutz]: Maybe there's rum in the vial? Why don't you check? [Sebastian Dark]: does the vial feel like it has something inside it? Eric Macaulay thinks Early has gotten enough people killed already ;) [Keeper]: It feels solid, so there's probably something inside it [William Hollis]: "there wouldn't be nearly enough rum in that vial to do me any good" Allen Speight rummages around in his medical bag [Keeper]: There is no rum left at this point [Eric Macaulay]: how large is it? William Hollis looks out the window [Sebastian Dark]: "I was just thikning, maybe we should hold onto the vial or find out what's in it before we leave it somewhere." [Keeper]: It's about six inches long, an inch wide Early Hutz points out that he has gotten people severely injured, but never actually killed. [Allen Speight]: "I have some tongs and an eye-dropper in here, perhaps we should take a careful look at the contents." [Sebastian Dark]: :"Let's not bicker and argue about who killed who." Allen Speight pulls on some rubber gloves [Allen Speight]: "Let me see that vial." Early Hutz goes to the other side of the room. Sebastian Dark stands back from Allen. [Eric Macaulay]: "I'm going to hide" Alexander St. James backs off Eric Macaulay walks far away from Allen [Allen Speight]: Is there a sink in here? William Hollis hides behind a chair [Keeper]: There should be Sebastian Dark draws his pistol. Eric Macaulay chuckles Allen Speight goes over to the sink [Sebastian Dark]: "Just in case." [Allen Speight]: "Cork on the vial?" [Keeper]: Wax stopper [Allen Speight]: wax, ok [Alexander St. James]: "Why do I get the feeling I won't be getting my security deposit back?" Sebastian Dark aims pistol in the Docs direction. Eric Macaulay hides behind something large Allen Speight removes the wax stopper with a pen knife [William Hollis]: "hey, at least we aren't throwing molotov cocktails around in here....at least not yet...." Allen Speight holding it away from his face [Early Hutz]: "There's no booze in here for Molotovs" [Eric Macaulay]: "Thanks to William" [Keeper]: There's a gentle pop as the stopper comes out [William Hollis]: "well, not anymore, i drank it all..." William Hollis smiles [William Hollis]: "i did it as a preventive measure, you can all thank me later..." Allen Speight carefully lowers the eye-dropper into the opening to withdraw a sample [Sebastian Dark]: "Well, we could always light Williams breath on fire." [Keeper]: You can't lower the dropper properly. Whatever's in there is solid [Allen Speight]: "Hmm" Allen Speight lowers the vial, and carefully peers into it [Early Hutz]: "What?" [Allen Speight]: It's not liquid, at any rate (Keeper whispered to Allen Speight): Inside is some powder with a light blue tint to it (Keeper whispered to Allen Speight): It's filled nearly to the brim [Sebastian Dark]: "What's it look like?" [Allen Speight]: "Hmm, a light blue powder." [Alexander St. James]: "What is it?" [Allen Speight]: "Someone hand me a small plastic bag from my kit." [Eric Macaulay]: ooc if James or Roland were here they could taste it! : ) [Allen Speight]: "I want to get a small sample analyzed" [Early Hutz]: Or snort it! [Eric Macaulay]: lol [William Hollis]: ooc - where is james anyway? Early Hutz hands him a bag. [Keeper]: Shame you guys didn't think of him until now... [Eric Macaulay]: wasn't James the one who tasted the water? [Keeper]: I know where he is, but I'm not telling [Keeper]: James was the one who tasted the plutonium [William Hollis]: he tasted that silver stuff on the boat [Keeper]: Roland refused to taste the water [Sebastian Dark]: ooc who plays james? Allen Speight works out a pinch of the powder on his penknife, and slips it into the bag, then jams the wax stop back into the vial [Eric Macaulay]: he's not over at your place getting his free food is he? [Keeper]: Okay then [Keeper]: Nope [Eric Macaulay]: ooc driver [Keeper]: But I have to go guys [Allen Speight]: Alrighty [Keeper]: Sorry to end it so abruptly but I've been called on an emergency and I want to wrap it up fast [Sebastian Dark]: nice stopping point [Eric Macaulay]: Say hi to bcr for us tonight [Keeper]: So I can hit dinner [Early Hutz]: Fire! [Keeper]: Anyways, post in the thread on the forum how great I am. [Keeper]: :) [Keeper]: Later [Eric Macaulay]: bye [Early Hutz]: Driver's at Yosemite [Sebastian Dark]: cya
